Catoosa Small Animal Hospital Introduce
For over four decades, **Catoosa Small Animal Hospital (CSAH)** has stood as a cornerstone of quality veterinary medicine and surgery for the Catoosa, Oklahoma community and surrounding areas. Established in 1980 by Dr. Steve Weir, this practice has grown into a highly respected **Small Animal Hospital** known for its unwavering commitment to providing the highest standard of care at reasonable prices. The clinic’s philosophy is simple yet powerful: focus exclusively on small animals—including dogs, cats, birds, ferrets, and rabbits—to ensure their team is always available, knowledgeable, and ready to provide the best possible treatment.
With a large, dedicated veterinary team of nine doctors, Catoosa Small Animal Hospital ensures depth of expertise across all facets of small animal health, from **Preventative Services** to complex **Orthopedic Surgery**. The facility is designed to meet virtually every medical need your beloved companion may encounter, equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic tools like **Digital Radiology** and **Sonography**. This investment in both experienced personnel and advanced technology allows CSAH to offer a level of comprehensive medical and surgical services often associated with larger metropolitan hospitals, all within the convenient, caring environment of a trusted local clinic.
The practice successfully blends technical excellence with **Compassionate Care**, fostering strong, long-lasting relationships with clients and their pets. The staff understands the critical role pets play in an Oklahoma family’s life, striving to provide thorough, empathetic attention whether the pet is coming in for routine vaccines, emergency surgery, or compassionate end-of-life support. This dedication to excellence in both the science and the heart of veterinary medicine is what makes Catoosa Small Animal Hospital a preferred choice for pet owners in the region.
The facility ensures that care is accessible to everyone in the community. CSAH provides a clearly designated **Wheelchair accessible parking lot** for easy maneuvering. Entering the building is made simple via a **Wheelchair accessible entrance**, and the facility includes a well-maintained **Wheelchair accessible restroom** and general **Restroom**. While the practice is dedicated to being available for urgent needs and even welcomes “drop-ins” to minimize waiting, the staff generally suggests that **Appointments are recommended** to ensure they can dedicate the necessary time and attention to your pet without delay. The hospital is fully equipped to handle **Onsite services**, ensuring pets receive comprehensive care without needing external referrals for most diagnostic or surgical needs.
- **Advanced Diagnostics and Internal Medicine:** The clinic uses cutting-edge technology to diagnose conditions swiftly. Services include **Digital Radiology** (for organs, bones, and joints), **Sonography** (Ultrasound) for deeper investigation, a fully equipped **In-House Lab** for **Lab Tests**, **Blood Chemistry Profiles**, **Fecal Analysis**, and extensive **Disease Screening** (Canine Heartworm, Feline Leukemia/FIV). The team specializes in **Internal Medicine** to manage complex, non-surgical conditions.
- **Comprehensive Surgical Procedures:** The hospital is a full surgical center performing both routine and specialized operations. They regularly perform **Routine Surgeries** (spay/neuter), **General Surgery**, **Emergency Surgeries**, and complex **Orthopedic Surgery** to help pets recover from trauma and congenital issues.
- **Preventative Care and Wellness:** The core of their practice, these services ensure long-term health. They include **Pet Vaccinations** and preventative medication, **Canine Heartworm** prevention, and management of **Reproductive Services** and breeding cycles. The clinic also offers the convenience of an **Online Pharmacy** for easy medication access.
- **Dental Health:** To address the common problem of oral disease, CSAH offers comprehensive dental care, including routine **Dental Cleaning** (scaling and polishing), **Dental Procedures**, and advanced **Extractions And Oral Surgery**. They also utilize protective applications like OraVet sealant.
- **Boarding and Comfort Services:** For clients who travel, the **Boarding Facilities** offer a supervised stay where dogs are walked three to four times daily. Grooming services are also provided, including **Canine Bathing**, **Anal Sac Expression**, **Ear Cleaning**, and **Nail Trim** services, ensuring pets look and feel their best upon return.
- **Extraordinary Compassionate End-of-Life Care:** The dedication of the team, especially Associate Veterinarian **Dr. Laura Embry** (a long-time staff member since 2005), is a defining feature. One client shared the profoundly comforting experience of losing their dog, Gwennie, noting that Dr. Laura **“stayed late with us to make sure she was comfortable and feeling love before she was gone.”** This level of kindness during the hardest moments is invaluable to Oklahoma families.
- **Deep-Rooted Stability and Experience:** The hospital’s long history, established in 1980, and the presence of nine DVMs, including the founder **Dr. Steve Weir** and his son **Dr. Caleb Weir**, demonstrate deep institutional knowledge and stability. This extensive staff ensures that expert care is always available, and pets can be seen quickly, even on short notice, especially for **Urgent Care**.
- **High-Tech and Specialized Capabilities:** CSAH is a fully equipped modern facility capable of handling serious medical issues in-house. They offer specialized procedures like **Orthopedic Surgery** and advanced diagnostic imaging like **Sonography** (Ultrasound), offering a complete picture of your pet’s health without multiple referrals.
- **Commitment to Incredible Results:** The clinic is known for its ability to achieve positive, transformative outcomes for pets. One client noted the results were so positive their pet essentially “graduated from ‘adorable companion’ to ‘tax-paying citizen with a 401k,’” using humor to highlight the **incredible results** and superior health they achieved for their pet. Another review noted that complex procedures like TPLO surgery were offered at **“half the price of the other vets in the area,”** highlighting both expertise and affordability.
- **Dedicated Small Animal Focus:** By choosing to limit their practice to small animals (dogs, cats, birds, ferrets, rabbits, and other small pets), the doctors ensure specialized, up-to-date knowledge in those species and maintain greater availability for appointments and emergencies during office hours.

For Oklahoma pet owners, the value lies in the confidence that comes with trusting a hospital that has been successfully operating since 1980, is staffed by a large team of doctors with diverse expertise (like **Orthopedic Surgery** and **Sonography**), and is committed to quality medicine at reasonable prices. The availability of comprehensive services—from **Dental Cleaning** and **Pet Vaccinations** to **Emergency Surgeries**—means this is truly an all-in-one resource. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- What a great group. They will get you in on short notice and are so attuned to your pets needs. Particularly Dr. Laura. She is a phenomenal vet! I lost my Gwennie to aggressive cancer but Dr Laura stayed late with us to make sure she was comfortable and feeling love before she was gone. I will never forget her kindness. - Brought my pet iguana here for an oil change. Staff said, “Sir… this is an animal hospital.” I said, “Exactly. Check his tire pressure while you’re at it.” They looked confused, but ten minutes later he rolled out with fresh synthetic oil, rotated tires, and a little pine tree air freshener dangling from his tail. The iguana is now thriving. He’s driving a Honda Civic with better mileage than mine, hasn’t missed a green light since, and just joined a carpool. Word on the street is he’s studying tort law (because of course he is) and already arguing with pigeons in the parking lot about zoning regulations. If you want your pets to graduate from “adorable companion” to “tax-paying citizen with a 401k,” this is the place. Incredible results. Highly recommend. August 22 · Joshua Males
- Amazing, caring staff. Unfortunately we reached the end of life for my sweet girl, as heartbreaking as that morning was, the people here were so patient yet urgent at the same time. They brought her rainbow cake and cheese, and let us spend all the time we needed with her, to grieve, and say goodbye. One of the worst days of our lives made easier by Catoosa Small Animal Hospital, and the people that work there. Thanks, guys, it meant a lot! July 30 · Alana Galpin
- I really like this place. Dr Shelby is a great vet. They helped my Odie boy get well after he, for days, wouldn't eat (not even bacon). Here he was before and after he came back from Catoosa. March 19 · H L Frazier
- I love this place and the staff. They've helped me with two animals when my local vet was unable. They are very caring and empathetic. This vet also had great pricing. One vet hospital was going to charge over $1,000 for a possible procedure that my cat would need. This place? Less than $400. I don't plan on using any other animal hospital except for this place in the future. August 22 · AWil
