★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I am writing this a year later but that just goes to show how much of a positive FIRST experience I had here. Unfortunately me and my boyfriend had to make a hard, heart breaking decision with our dog but with being new to the area at the time just walking in the staff was having a very busy morning but acknowledged the stress we and my dog were in and was able to see us, the staff was very nice and the doctor went beyond and above even contacting past vets to get correct history to this day I am so thankful for this wonderful staff and how much thoughtfulness and extra effort despite having a busy morning and despite us being there for the first time. Thank you!
August 26 · Alina LundDr. Nicole Carey is the best! She truly cares about her “fur” patients and their families. I highly recommend Smithfield Animal Hospital. I have 3 dogs, 2 adult cats and 2 kittens that are under their care.
December 30 · Darlene PipherVery knowledgeable, professional and friendly staff. Highly recommend to anyone in the area that is looking for a replacement or new vet. They were able to fit my puppy Ellie in same day and fixed her right up. They were very detailed with instructions. I can't speak highly enough about the entire staff.
August 05 · Jenn McQuaitI recently had an upsetting experience with Dr. Forgeng during a follow-up visit for my elderly pug, who had received her first Leptospirosis vaccine 48 hours earlier. Shortly after the vaccination (administered during a vet tech appointment), my dog began refusing to put any weight on the leg where the shot was given. At the appointment with Dr. Forgeng, I shared my concerns and suggested the issue might be a reaction to the vaccine. Instead of engaging in a thoughtful discussion or acknowledging the possibility, Dr. Forgeng was quick to dismiss the idea. She prescribed medication and recommended a 72 hour observation period, stating that if my dog improved she would then consider it having been a vaccine reaction.Well, 72 hours later, my dog was indeed better, walking normally again without any issues. I had asked Dr. Forgeng during the appointment how she preferred to be updated, and I followed through by emailing the office on July 21st to share the good news and confirm the resolution. Unfortunately, I never received a response, not even a brief acknowledgment. This experience left me feeling frustrated and unheard. It's concerning when a veterinarian seems unwilling to consider valid, evidence-supported vaccine reactions, especially with elderly pets. Dismissing pet owners' observations and not following up after a clear recovery is not only unprofessional but also deeply disappointing. Pet owners deserve a care team that listens, remains open minded, and communicates, especially when the health of a beloved companion is involved.
July 30 · Shannon HolmThese people are truly a godsend! We were able to bring our dog in on very short notice and be seen quickly. After making a very hard decision we were treated with all the care in the world , we couldn’t have asked for a better experience under the circumstances. The staff is amazing and Dr. Redmond was professional, caring, and great at what she does. She truly cares for her patients and accommodated us in every way possible to help us and our pet be comfortable and calm. I highly recommend her to anyone. Thank you guys so much !!
