Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) Tampa distinguishes itself through several groundbreaking features and a unique approach to emergency veterinary care that truly sets it apart for Florida pet owners.
- Pet Parent Participation: A revolutionary aspect of VEG is its "stay together" philosophy. Unlike many emergency vets where pets are taken to the back, VEG operates with an open-floor plan hospital. This means pet parents can stay by their pet's side throughout the entire treatment process, from initial examination to diagnostics, surgery (often viewable through windows), and even overnight stays in dedicated rooms with pull-out beds. This reduces stress for both pet and owner, fostering a sense of involvement and transparency. One review passionately states, "We were at the clinic all night, and they went above and above—they made us a bed to sleep on so we could stay close and comfort our dog. That level of compassion is rare and unforgettable."
- Immediate Attention, No Appointments Needed: VEG operates on a walk-in basis 24/7. When you arrive, you immediately speak with a veterinarian, and your pet begins receiving care without delay. This "see a vet now" model is critical in emergency situations.
- Exceptional Team & Compassion: The staff at VEG Tampa, from front desk to doctors and nurses, consistently receive praise for their kindness, empathy, and professionalism. Dr. Reber is highlighted as "not only a brilliant surgeon, but also one of the kindest, most compassionate people I’ve ever met." Nurse Angelica is described as "phenomenal—gentle, attentive, and so clearly passionate," and Haley at the front desk as "a ray of sunshine in a very dark moment—warm, helpful, and on top of every detail." This compassionate approach is vital during highly stressful emergencies.
- Clear and Consistent Communication: The team excels at keeping pet owners informed at every step, explaining complex medical information with "patience and care," even when delivering "bad news... in the most comforting way." This commitment to transparent and empathetic communication builds immense trust.
- Pet-Centered Philosophy: Every aspect of VEG's operation is designed to reduce stress for the pet. From vets sitting on the floor with animals to allowing owners to be present, the focus is on creating a calm and comforting environment during a crisis.
- Fighting for Your Pet: Reviewers emphasize VEG's dedication to "fight for your pet like they’re their own." This reflects a deep commitment to exploring every possible avenue to save and heal pets, providing hope in dire situations.

May 19, 2025 · Talia WillinghamI want to start by saying I hardly EVER write reviews, but i feel that i have to take the time for this one. The entire staff was incredibly kind, attentive, and quick to act when my dog Max was brought in for a STAT emergency. I’ve never been to an ER vet where you’re allowed to stay with your pet throughout the entire process—it made a world of difference during such a stressful time. Dr. Schwartz was outstanding—compassionate, clear, and thorough in explaining every step of Max’s care. I want to extend a special thank you to Jon, whose patience and dedication were unmatched. He stayed by Max’s side the entire time, treating him as if he were his own. As well as the nurse that was by his side. The whole team went above and beyond, helping us feel supported and reassured while Max was being treated for heat stroke. I’m deeply grateful for the exceptional care we received.
Apr 30, 2025 · Daniella PerdomoI have had to go to VEG multiple times since I have a diabetic cat. Everyone treats my cat like he's their own. You can just tell how much the staff cares about each and every patient they treat. Also, I love that they offer "VEG Hotel" so I can stay with my cat in the hospital overnight. Buddy loves it there! 10/10 would recommend.
Mar 19, 2025 · Makayla LongThis was the best experience we have ever had when needing to take our fur baby to be seen in an emergency! We walked in and they immediately welcomed us with open arms, brought us straight to the back in the ER and allowed us to stay with our baby throughout the process. Everyone worked together very quickly as a team which we loved to see❤️! They were very thorough with us from beginning to end and in the process they comfort us with a beverage or coffee of choice if we would like. I love the fact that they offer a room for you to stay there with a bed if your fur baby has to stay overnight for observation so you don't have to feel you need to leave them behind. I highly recommend their service to anyone 10 out of 10!! 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
