Bonefly Introduce
For pet owners across New York City, finding the right accessories for their beloved companions is often a blend of seeking style, durability, and functionality. From daily walks through city parks to special occasions, the collars, leashes, and other gear our pets wear are more than just practical items; they're expressions of their unique personalities and an extension of our care. In a bustling metropolis like New York, where trends and quality often go hand-in-hand, businesses catering to these specific needs attract a discerning clientele. Bonefly, located in the prominent Hudson Yards development, aims to be a part of this vibrant pet accessory landscape, offering a range of products designed to outfit our furry friends.
As locals, we appreciate establishments that cater to the specific demands of city living, where products need to withstand the urban environment while also reflecting the contemporary tastes of New Yorkers. Bonefly's presence in a high-profile location like Hudson Yards suggests a focus on providing accessories that align with a modern, upscale lifestyle. While a traditional "pet store" might offer everything from food to grooming services, Bonefly appears to specialize in a more focused selection, particularly collars and leashes, aiming to provide distinct options for New York's diverse canine population. Understanding what makes a product suitable for city dogs—those who navigate crowded sidewalks, endure varied weather, and often lead active lives—is key for any pet accessory provider in our area.
Bonefly is conveniently located at 20 Hudson Yards RU 216, New York, NY 10001, USA. This address places it squarely within the dynamic and modern Hudson Yards development on Manhattan's West Side, a hub known for its retail, dining, and public spaces. For New Yorkers, this location offers significant accessibility through various transportation options.
The most direct way to reach Hudson Yards is via the 7 train subway line, which extends to the 34th Street–Hudson Yards station, placing you directly beneath The Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards. This makes it highly convenient for residents commuting from Queens, Midtown, or even further uptown. Additionally, numerous bus lines serve the area, providing connectivity from various parts of Manhattan. For those who prefer to drive, while parking can be a challenge in NYC, Hudson Yards does offer an underground parking garage, though it comes with urban parking rates. Its proximity to the West Side Highway also makes it relatively accessible for those driving in from other boroughs or New Jersey. The location within a modern shopping complex means it's generally well-maintained, safe, and part of a larger destination where visitors can combine their pet accessory shopping with other errands or leisure activities. Navigating within Hudson Yards to find unit RU 216 should be straightforward given the clear signage and directory within the complex.
Based on the provided information, Bonefly appears to specialize in a specific range of pet accessories, particularly those related to canine outfitting. While details on the full breadth of their services are limited, the customer reviews point to their primary offerings revolving around:
- Dog Collars: A core product offered, often featuring decorative elements such as "bone jewels" or unique coatings. These collars are designed to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing for everyday wear.
- Dog Leashes: Complementing their collars, Bonefly provides leashes. Customers indicate that leashes are part of their product line, used in conjunction with their collars for walks and control.
- Designer or Fashion-Oriented Pet Accessories: The emphasis on "bone jewels" and "coating" suggests that Bonefly aims to provide more fashion-forward or unique accessories compared to standard utilitarian options. This caters to pet owners looking for distinctive styles for their dogs.
It's important for potential customers to note that while they offer these accessories, the customer feedback primarily discusses the products themselves rather than extensive services like grooming, training, or pet-sitting. Therefore, Bonefly should be considered a retail establishment focused on collars and leashes rather than a full-service pet store offering a wide array of supplies or animal care services.
Based on the provided customer feedback, here are some key features and highlights that characterize Bonefly:
- Located in Hudson Yards: Its prime location within the upscale Hudson Yards development suggests a modern retail environment and targets customers who frequent such high-end shopping destinations. This offers a convenient shopping experience as part of a larger outing.
- Focus on Specific Pet Accessories: Bonefly primarily offers dog collars and leashes, indicating a specialized focus rather than a broad range of pet supplies. This specialization might appeal to customers looking for specific items rather than a general pet store.
- Aesthetic-Oriented Design: The mention of "bone jewels" and "coating" on collars suggests an emphasis on the visual appeal and design of their products. This could be a draw for pet owners prioritizing stylish and unique accessories for their dogs.
- New York City Presence: Being located in Manhattan, Bonefly caters directly to the New York City pet market, offering a local option for city residents seeking pet accessories.
However, it's crucial for prospective customers to be aware of certain aspects highlighted in the customer reviews:
- Concerns Regarding Product Quality and Durability: Multiple reviews express significant dissatisfaction with the quality and durability of the products, particularly the collars. Issues cited include components breaking quickly, decorative elements scratching off or falling out, and general lack of resilience for "a dog that does dog things."
- Safety Concerns: One particularly alarming review describes a leash holder and collar breaking, leading to a dog running into traffic. This raises serious safety concerns about the reliability of the products under real-world conditions.
- Perceived High Price Point: Customers mention that the products are "so expensive" and that a "substantial amount of money" was spent, suggesting that the pricing is on the higher side, which, combined with quality issues, leads to dissatisfaction.
- Allegations of "False Marketing" and "Insecurity": Customers feel that the products do not live up to perceived claims or safety standards, leading to strong negative reactions regarding product integrity and marketing.
These highlights suggest that while Bonefly has a presence in a desirable location and offers aesthetically designed products, potential customers should thoroughly evaluate the products for quality and safety before making a purchase, especially given the feedback concerning durability and safety implications.

For pet owners in New York, navigating the vast array of options for pet supplies and accessories can be a task. When considering a visit to Bonefly at Hudson Yards, it's important to weigh its suitability for your specific needs, particularly in light of what makes a local business valuable to the community. Its location in the modern and easily accessible Hudson Yards makes it a convenient stop for those already in the area for shopping, dining, or leisure. If you're looking for a physical store that offers a selection of pet accessories beyond the typical large chain pet stores, Bonefly could be on your radar for its unique offerings within a prominent retail complex.
However, for local New Yorkers who prioritize durability, absolute safety, and long-term value in their pet's gear, especially given the active and sometimes unpredictable nature of city life with a dog, it's crucial to approach Bonefly with careful consideration. The reviews provided highlight significant concerns regarding the quality and reliability of their products, particularly collars and leashes, which are fundamental safety items. Instances of products breaking, leading to potentially dangerous situations, are a serious warning for any pet owner. While the aesthetic appeal of the products might be a draw, the practical implications of low durability and potential safety risks are paramount for responsible pet ownership in a high-traffic environment like New York City.
Therefore, while Bonefly is physically accessible and offers a specific niche in pet accessories within a notable NYC landmark, it's essential for locals to conduct thorough personal inspection of products and consider the long-term wear and tear, especially for active dogs. For many New Yorkers, a reliable, safe, and durable product is a non-negotiable, and it would be wise to factor in the experiences of other customers before making a significant investment in accessories from this particular establishment.

Apr 28, 2025 · Emre AndicSpent a substantial amount of money on a collar and leash. Leash is fine as we do not use it much but the collar is a wreck after a very short time. It is not made for a dog that does dog things. We have a Dane/lab mix and unfortunately any scratching will scratch the coating off of the bone jewels on the collar and pull them out, causing the holes to rip. Save your money unless you carry your dog in a purse.
Sep 14, 2024 · Marc ContradyWe purchased two collars and two harnesses at the NYC store last spring. One harness was not in store but they said there was one in the warehouse and it would ship. We never received it. I emailed and they again said it would ship. It never arrived and they stopped responding to emails. The harness we had would not stay tight. It would loosen and my dog would escape. One collar broke in half from a 20lb. Dog after just a couple months of use. We have one collar that still works for my 14 year old dog. These overpriced items are a huge waste of money and the customer service is terrible. I never write reviews but this time it was necessary. My older dog wandered off and the person who found her did not realize her contact information was on the backside of the leash. Makes no sense to put it there if people don’t know to look there.
Feb 01, 2025 · Cindy ReardonThis is a beautiful pet store with very nice displays and a wide selection of collars, harnesses, and leashes for our four-legged friends. The harnesses I looked at were made out of a rubberized material that I wasn't sure of, so I didn't buy anything this time, maybe on the next visit!
Jan 28, 2023 · A RGorgeous harness and leash I totally brought into the sales pitch of it being indestructible, safe and all. Less than 24 hours and it was broken - my husky darted towards a squirrel and it ripped. This could’ve been so dangerous. Luckily I noticed right away and was able to secure her. When I returned it I was offered a new one and was told this never happened before. Not with the risk. I was super disappointed.
