Reef and Reptile Company Introduce
For California's vibrant community of exotic pet enthusiasts, particularly those with a passion for the mesmerizing worlds of reptiles, amphibians, and marine aquariums, finding a specialized store that truly understands these unique environments is paramount. In Chula Vista, Reef and Reptile Company emerges as a dedicated destination for those seeking a diverse selection of animals and the essential knowledge to ensure their well-being. This local business carves out a niche by focusing on captive-bred reptiles and aquacultured corals and marine fish, aiming to provide a responsible and informed approach to exotic pet ownership. Reef and Reptile Company endeavors to be a valuable resource for Californians looking to expand their collections or embark on new aquatic and herpetological adventures, offering a blend of fascinating creatures and specialized supplies.
The pursuit of exotic pets in California often leads enthusiasts to seek out stores that go beyond the typical offerings of a general pet shop. Reef and Reptile Company fills this void by specializing in a range of less common, yet equally captivating, animals. Their commitment to offering mostly captive-bred animals, many of which are in-house, is a significant advantage for environmentally conscious Californians. This practice not only supports sustainable pet trade but also often results in healthier, more adaptable animals better suited for home environments. Whether a local resident is interested in the intricate patterns of a ball python, the vibrant colors of a crested gecko, or the serene beauty of an aquacultured coral, Reef and Reptile Company strives to provide a curated selection that meets the specific desires and demands of the Californian exotic pet community.
However, it is crucial for potential customers in California to approach any significant pet purchase with thorough research and clear communication, as highlighted by varied customer experiences. While one customer expressed concern over advice regarding a sea cucumber's tank requirements, stating they felt misled, another customer's review paints a picture of "very amazing service." This positive feedback specifically lauded the gentleman who provided a tour, offered detailed facts and information about the reptiles, and helped choose the right pet, even building a beautiful enclosure. This illustrates that while experiences can vary, the store does aim to provide an informative and helpful environment, especially for those seeking guidance on selecting and setting up their exotic pet's habitat. This duality in customer feedback underscores the importance of customers articulating their needs and existing setups clearly to the staff, and also performing their own verification, to ensure a successful and informed purchase for their unique pet. The store's focus on education, as demonstrated by the positive review, can be a significant asset for new and existing pet owners in California.

Reef and Reptile Company Reviews
I do not recommend this company at all he lied to me just to make a sale he sold me a tiger tail sea cucumber, and I told him that I have less than a 20 gallon tank and he told me that’s fine online I checked today. It says they need a 50 gallon tank or more and it also says they need an established tank he never asked me if I had an established tank. I told him that my tank is less than a year old. They lie in order to make sales
Jul 03, 2025 · Lawrence MandweeVery amazing service the gentleman there gave us a tour and facts, information about all theirs reptile and help us choose the right one, built her enclosure which came out beautiful definitely recommend them
May 22, 2025 · William MendozaSo this shop has lots of varieties of reptiles, some a lil too pricey…. On another note, however, the older gentleman who seemed to be the owner or manager of the shop was really rude to his employees, Regardless, if it’s possibly his son or family member, it’s very belittling and demeaning to talk to an employee in front of customers the way he was it was extremely awkward and uncomfortable, And felt a heaviness of darkness in that shop. I felt terribly bad for that young man, His employee was very helpful, respectful and polite, As for the manager “ Good Sir, I highly encourage you that you treat your employees with respect for 1, as a man and 2 as a human being and as an employee! Do not ever belittle your employee in front of customers it does not look good on you or your shop” Take or leave The advice. May the good Lord have mercy on you God bless 🙏🏼 Also clean up your shop it smells bad 😬
May 15, 2025 · Jazmine BarriosDespite the poor cleanliness in the back and concerning animal enclosures, I’ve continued coming here over a year for the frozen feeders, past workers, and PAST consistency. The last time I’ve gotten them was before their deep freezer along with most of their electricity in the building went out some months ago. Now their worker (I didn’t start seeing until recent visits) Hispanic with the ponytail, says they have “NEVER” sold frozen rats before and to call ahead for them. I understand if they stopped selling them after what happened with the freezer, but asking me “am I sure this is the right place” when I’ve been coming here over a year is a tad condescending. Especially since for the first year I’ve been going I never saw him there before. How am I supposed to call ahead when your phone doesn’t work sometimes or goes straight to vmail all the time now?? And for him to call the shops phone and show it’s ringing now, as if I was lying, is crazy..I KNOW factually they used to sell frozen bc the many times I have bought them there. AND it’s literally in their reviews that ppl have bought frozen here before! So bc of this new guy ignorantly passing inaccurate information, I will no longer be giving them my business and will find a new place
Jun 14, 2025 · Stoney TPretty appalled at the care of the animals. Super small cages/tanks with multiple animals. Tanks looked dirty with no lights whatsoever led or uvb and really just all in the dark in the first room. Tanks Wayyy to small for the almost adult sized cresties and some cohabbing in smaller than recommended tanks for just 1 gecko let alone multiple. Also very expensive feeders compared to other shops. Only positive is they had some unique species and good animal selection. Just not worth the quantity over the quality of care.
