- Exceptional Staff Knowledge: A consistently praised highlight is the deep expertise of the staff. Another noted, "The worker seemed really knowledgeable and took the time to answer our question, even though he was super busy." This ensures customers receive valuable, informed advice.

- Abundant Aquascaping Options: The store is appreciated for having "tons of aquascapes to check out and they had tons of supplies," providing ample inspiration and materials for creating beautiful underwater environments.
- Quality Over Quantity (for some items): While pricing can vary, one reviewer found their "piece of wood was a little more expensive than other places but it was also of better quality," suggesting a commitment to product quality, especially for hard goods.
- Potential for Great Value: Despite some items being higher priced, customers generally found their "prices seemed good" for the wide selection of fish and supplies.
- Specialized Focus: Unlike larger general pet chains, The Fish Store's sole focus on aquatic life means a more in-depth inventory and higher level of specialized expertise, making it a preferred destination for serious hobbyists. As one customer wished, "There really should be more of these shops, and less petcos."
However, it's also important to acknowledge areas noted for improvement:
- Tank Cleanliness Concerns: One customer expressed sadness regarding the "dirty or covered in algae" tanks and a "sad" axolotl in a small area, leading them to "decided to not purchase our fish here." This suggests an inconsistency in tank maintenance which could impact customer perception of animal welfare and health.

The Fish Store Reviews
There really should be more of these shops, and less petcos the owner was extremely knowledgeable and helped us pick out a few new companions for our tank. Their piece of wood was a little more expensive than other places but it was also of better quality. Over all I would shop here for all my future needs .
May 17, 2025 · Michael SavageWe are looking to add a specific type of fish to our family so we came to check this place out. They had tons of variety and their prices seemed good. I loved that they had tons of aquascapes to check out and they had tons of supplies. A lot of the tanks seemed to be dirty or covered in algae and then the axolotl they had just looked really sad as he was squeezed into a small area where they had Bettas. This made me sad, as I’ve seen them kept in better environments elsewhere. The worker seemed really knowledgeable and took the time to answer our question, even though he was super busy. I’m sure their fish are great, just the cleanliness/appearance was a factor for me and we decided to not purchase our fish here. I did find it awesome they had some fish I haven’t seen in person or heard of.
Feb 09, 2025 · Rowdy KiloNinerGreat selection of fishes than any fish store i have seen in seattle. I was shopping for some guppies, amanos and algae eaters. I was surprised to see some fishes that are usually hard to find. I wouldn't agree with other reviews that prices are fair. The fish prices are high compared to other stores. The fluval filters were insanely expensive compared to any other place. Fluval 407 was priced at $339 while it was selling for $229 everywhere. You cannot justify this markup. When the store is busy, it can take sometime for them to address your needs. The staff seems knowledgeable and friendly.

Jun 20, 2025 · Nicolas KhamphilomBest site in Seattle for salt water species. I've never had any issues with any of my fish or corals. They are very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend them to anyone.
