What is worth choosing Animal Eye Medical & Surgical Specialists?
When your pet is facing a serious eye condition, the decision of where to seek care can be overwhelming. Choosing Animal Eye Medical & Surgical Specialists is a decision to prioritize specialized, expert care. Unlike a general veterinary clinic, this facility has a singular focus on ophthalmology, meaning their veterinarians and staff have extensive experience and specialized training in diagnosing and treating a wide array of eye diseases, from common corneal ulcers to more complex conditions requiring surgical intervention. The positive review from a satisfied customer highlights this very benefit, noting that Dr. Rainbow and his staff were able to quickly and effectively treat a persistent eye issue that a regular vet couldn't resolve, restoring their dog's health and comfort.
The clinic's access to advanced medical technology, such as CT scans and other imaging, allows for a level of diagnostic accuracy that is essential for effective treatment. Their ability to handle both medical and surgical cases in-house provides a seamless continuum of care, without the need for multiple referrals. While one review points to a heartbreaking and unfortunate outcome, it is important to remember that some conditions, especially those involving complex medical issues in older pets, can have unpredictable results despite the best efforts of medical professionals. The emotional support provided during such difficult times, as implied by the staff's dedication, is also a critical part of their service. For any pet owner in the Texas area who has a pet with a chronic or serious eye condition, choosing Animal Eye Medical & Surgical Specialists means entrusting your pet to a team with the specialized knowledge, technology, and commitment to compassion required to give them the best possible chance at preserving their vision and quality of life.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Dr Rainbow and his staff are wonderful. After over a month of trying to treat my dog's eye with no improvement. My regular Vet recommended we see Dr Rainbow. With his expertise he helped my girl quickly and she has healed up nicely. Recently it appeared she started squinting in the other eye. I didn't even hesitate, just called the office and they were able to fit us in right away. I trust Dr Rainbow and his staff completely with my dog's eye health. I would recommend them to anyone!
June 20 · Dana BennetI’m very disappointed in this animal facility. The staff was good, but the doctor was to sure of himself. When Veterinarian says we like to think age is not a disease, it is! My baby had one eye taken out the other was grafted. I was told she will be walking and eating and having 87% eye site back. After surgery she could not walk, she was very wobbly, and would only eat out of my hand since she couldn’t see. I took my dog back to her doctor. He told me during surgeries doctors have to manipulate the body and could be why she couldn’t walk yet. Well she stopped eating and five days later I had to help her over the rainbow bridge. Very sad!!!
August 19 · Monica knezThe staff was wonderful and Dr Rainbow was so professional and he did an excellent job removing the dead tissue from my cats eye and then covering the area with a graft. You can see before and after here on the right eye.If you look close, you can see the graft In the photo on the right. This was done in 2021 I believe and Milo is still doing great healthy and no issues with the eye
July 12 · Lisa WilsonThere’s an older lady at the front desk who was never friendly to me on several visits. She made me feel uncomfortable and unwanted. She even over charged me $700 and the other worker said she owes me a refund and the older lady insisted several times that nothing was owed. A third lady came out and did the math to see that I was over charged $700. I was refunded because the two ladys stood up for me. I paid about $1,500 for the ulcer in my dogs eye and the old lady at the front told me it would take 3 hours. I returned in 3 hours to see my dog without the e-cone on that I brought him wearing. The lady who brought him said he doesn’t need the cone after the $1,500 procedure. I immediately put his e-cone on so he wouldn’t rub his eye. I was scheduled for a follow up in 7 days and was told he had an eye ulcer again in the same eye. Even though I had my dog wear his cone 24/7 and applied all medications as instructed. The only time his cone was off was in the care of the staff for those 3 hours. So on the follow up dr rainbow told me an example of my dogs eye ulcer is the discomfort that I would feel if I had a gun shot wound to my stomach. Oh and I forgot to mention that every visit I would greet dr rainbow with a hello how are you today and not once did he respond. He made me feel unimportant. He had no personality and care for anything. He always looks miserable and he just says the dog has an ulcer and walks out.. I also paid $1,500 for my dogs other eye that he said had an ulcer. Then another time they sent me home with someone’s else’s medication. Then I found a friend who told me about this place called eye care for animals. And they treat my dog with happiness love and attention and they say hello back to me and they are happy and relaxed and patient and answer my questions happily without rushing me out the door rudely. And the procedure with medicine was only $1,128. Much more affordable. Dr rainbow told me my dog doesn’t need the e-cone after the procedure anymore because he said he doesn’t recommend it. Oh and at the eye care for animals they specifically have on the post procedure instructions to make sure my dog wears his e-cone 24/7 to prevent animal from rubbing his eye so the eye can heal properly! They even had his cone on after the procedure. I’ll let you decide what’s best for your animal. I’m sharing with you my blessing so your loved one is in good hands. August 07 · David VAs the founder of a rescue, we had a sweet male cat who had an issue with his eye. His third eyelid was covering half of his eye. We were worried it was bothering him, but it wasn't. We wanted to make sure he was healthy and adoptable. Our vet asked us to reach out to Dr. Rainbow. They did a surgery on him, and his eye looks amazing. Look at the before and after pics. First 2 are the before, next 2 are the after. Thank you so much!!!
