★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- I am impressed by the Banfield Pet Hospital on Chippewa. My dachshund woke up in the morning unable to move, and my regular vet no longer has Saturday Hours and does not have Sunday hours and since Monday is a holiday, I knew that I would not reach them until Monday. So I decided to see if Banfield would see us. Sure enough, they could. We had a great vet, and he was thorough in his explanations. My pup had an x-ray, and they sent it off to be reviewed, and then followed up with a phone call later that day. I was especially impressed that I received a follow-up call the day after checking on how my dog is doing. I was very happy with the experience. They also have a clean space. There are wheelchair accessible parking spaces and the bathrooms are built to be accessible. May 25 · Suzanne Chisum
- I love this vet. Been going here for about 15 years. At one point I didn't have dogs then when I brought my new dog in to see them Dr. Sita saw my name and came out and greeted me. It had been years since I had a dog and he remembered me immediately. He and the other staff are so friendly and attentive. I will always go here as long as I live in the St. Louis area. - I move around frequently so I have been to a lot of vets, and this was my worst experience. I would NOT recommend Banfield hospitals unless you have an old/sickly pet who requires frequent visits, then perhaps their “wellness plan” would be beneficial. In my experience, they push their “plan”, unnecessary testing and vaccines in order to get as much $$$ out of an appointment as possible. I was required to do heart worm testing ($50) to receive a heart worm medication prescription. My dog has been on this medication for 5 years and I have never been required to do this, as long as she was on the medication consistently. I have taken her to 4 other vets that did not require this testing. When I questioned the staff regarding this policy, I was provided a very condescending explanation which I could have done without. I simply do not see the point in unnecessary pain and stress on my dog for their dollar. Additionally, I was encouraged to do vaccinations that I can see are not due for over a year (6/26). They insist these vaccines should be done by June 2025. So overall, my experience was bad in comparison with the 4 previous vet hospitals I have used. Bansfield advised that these previous facilities were “not using best practices”, but I find this unlikely as bansfield is 1 out of 5 that insists upon these practices. All that to say, the vet herself was very pleasant and knowledgeable, and the vet tech was also pleasant. However, I would advise checking out other facilities and potentially saving some $$$. - My dog fell very sick one night when I was visiting my family in St. Louis. Knowing I had to get him to a vet quickly, it was recommended I call Banfield Pet Hospital. And I am so glad I did!! From the first person I spoke to on the phone, throughout my dog Bear’s entire care, I was treated with professionalism, respect and kindness. They worked him in with a veterinarian within 30 minutes. Dr Buchi (sp?) was amazing. She and her associates kept me informed with sincere compassion throughout our whole visit. It was scary to see my dog so sick, and they all were very understanding. Knowing it might be expensive, they kept me informed of the cost at every turn, which I appreciated very much. Meghan was amazing with payment options and I was able to get on Banfield’s health payment plan, which helped my budget. Again, I am SO thankful for their entire staff. And my dog is back to his normal self. I highly recommend the Chippewa street location of Banfield pet hospital and we will be back. July 12 · JoLynn Winkels
- We've been bringing our dogs to Banfield since we first brought them home. The staff treats them like their own, from the front desk to the vets. The care and compassion, especially during emergency or difficult situations, cannot be understated. Absolutely happy we chose Banfield. August 09 · Amber Buck
