When a pet owner in Indiana is choosing a veterinary hospital, they are looking for a blend of medical expertise, compassionate care, and reliability. Brown Veterinary Hospital's promotional material suggests a full-service facility that can handle a wide range of medical needs, from routine check-ups and vaccinations to more serious surgical and emergency care. The ability to manage care for a variety of pets, including exotics, is a significant selling point that sets them apart.
However, potential clients should also be aware of a few reported experiences that highlight areas for consideration. Some past customer feedback has raised concerns about communication and the handling of emergencies, as well as the conditions of the boarding services. For instance, a review mentions a situation where a pet's emergency status was allegedly misunderstood, leading to a delay in care. Another review raised concerns about the cleanliness and care of a dog during a boarding stay, citing urine saturation and cuts on the animal. While these are isolated accounts and may not reflect the standard experience, they are a reminder for potential clients to ask specific questions about emergency protocols, vet on-call policies, and boarding procedures before entrusting their pet to the facility.
The hospital's provided information on services and accessibility, such as its wheelchair-friendly facilities and online pharmacy, are positive aspects that contribute to a convenient experience. For pet owners, it is worth a detailed discussion with the staff about their specific needs, especially for emergency protocols and boarding. The presence of a hospital tour, as advertised, is a good opportunity for owners to see the facilities for themselves. Ultimately, the choice of a vet is a personal one, and being informed about all aspects of a practice is the best way to ensure your pet gets the care it deserves.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Do not take your pets to Brown Veterinarians. This is just the straw on the camels back after my last rude encounter with one of their vets.I came home after a 10 day vacation to find one of my baby cats(4mnth) skin and bones lethargic cold and white gums.Well since it was noon and they take their lunch break for an hr no one would see her( even though I was paying for an emergency visit) so I drop her off and I wait. Two hrs go by no call. I drive over there. They bring her out. No bloodwork no xrays nothing. They seen goop in her eyes and fleas on her and flea shamed me. Gave me antibiotics and flea meds and sent home. Next day she is worse and her gums are somehow whiter than her teeth and she is seizing. I call Brown again. I tell them what happened the day before how I felt and the receptionist told me there was a mix up and the vet thought she was just doing a routine check up!!!!! I paid for emergency service cuz my cat is on brink of death and you tell me a receptionist made a mistake! No your vet did! There was no way a vet ACTUALLY looked at my cat or blood work and xrays would have been ordered. I then was informed there were no doctors in now and I couldn't be helped to try someplace with 24 hr emergency service. The last time I did that I was told give them 1200 now we can save her or give us 300 to put her down your choice....we'll I didnt have 1200 and they weren't going to let me take my dog so I was forced to kill her....so that's a no.... they didnt even offer to make her an appointment or to see her for free to fix the mistake. Just sorry your cat is dying.
July 30 · Jessica NevillGreat Vet! Great with both my dog and cat. DO NOT board your animal there! I picked up my shepherd on Monday morning she was saturated in urine. Her bed was saturated in urine. She has cuts on her nose (I'm assuming from attempting to get out of her cage to go outside). My shepherd is a house pet and has been left for greater than 12 hours with no accidents. I guarantee she was not checked on Saturday or Sunday!
August 14 · wendy bakerA place that use to feel like family, our pets were their pets. It was the best damn vet in town. Now I can’t even get a call back. People will go where they feel welcome. DR ROODE GETS 5 STARS THOUGH THANK YOU FOR BEING THERE WITH MY KANE WHEN HE PASSED ❤️
August 28 · CamDr. Rood and the tech (I think his name was Jacob) were extremely patient and caring when i unexpectedly had to put my kitten down. They allowed me to take the time i needed and were very kind when explaining everything. My other cat and I miss our Stella girl so much but we are lucky she was in good hands in her final moments and is no longer suffering.
April 11 · Mallory PineWe had our 1st visit there today and I was very pleased with Dr Rood and our technician, Jacob. They were very nice to our girl, who was trembling when we went in.Her nails were cut and filed very nicely. We have a total of 5 dogs (3 miniature schnauzers and 2 American pitbull terriers). We plan on taking all 5 there.Today’s cost was not bad for rabies vac and nails. We are definitely going to stagger spay and neutering. They are not priced higher than other places I have gotten quotes from but with 5 dogs, my pockets says to do so lol. They do require 1/2 down towards the highest quote, so that does brake up the cost for me to budget doing them all.
