Choosing a veterinary hospital is a deeply personal decision, and I-20 Animal Hospital presents a mix of professional capabilities and emotional support that can be highly valuable to Texas pet owners. The hospital's dual role as both a general practitioner and an emergency service provides a significant convenience. For a pet owner, having a single location that can handle routine check-ups as well as unexpected emergencies can simplify care and provide continuity, as the staff may already be familiar with your pet's medical history. This is particularly important in a state like Texas, where access to specialized or emergency-only facilities might require significant travel.
The availability of an in-house laboratory and X-ray equipment is a major asset. This allows veterinarians to get a clear picture of your pet's condition quickly, which is critical in emergency situations. While some clients have expressed concerns about the cost and necessity of certain tests, the presence of these diagnostic tools means the staff has the means to perform a thorough examination and reach a precise diagnosis. It is always wise for pet owners to have an open conversation with the vet about recommended tests and their costs to ensure they are comfortable with the proposed plan of action.
Furthermore, the compassionate care provided by the I-20 Animal Hospital team during difficult times, such as end-of-life care, is a powerful testament to their dedication. One client’s heartfelt review about the care their pet Millie received during her final moments speaks volumes. The kindness, patience, and support shown to both the pet and the family can be an invaluable comfort during a time of immense grief. This side of the practice highlights a deep-seated care for animals and their families, which is a quality every pet owner seeks. For those in the Texas area looking for a veterinary hospital that can address a wide spectrum of health needs, from routine to urgent, and offers both technical capability and genuine care, I-20 Animal Hospital is a choice worth considering.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I want to share my experience with I-20 Animal Hospital. When I brought my cat in with a fever over 105, an abscess, and trouble having a bowel movement, I clearly explained the situation and asked them to treat the obvious issue. However, they insisted on running multiple expensive tests that I didn’t want or think were necessary. They refused to provide any care for my cat—including doing nothing to stabilize his dangerously high fever—unless I agreed to these tests. Despite my objections, I felt pressured to comply and was charged nearly $1,400. After all the tests came back negative, my cat was only given an antibiotic, painkiller, and a small amount of fluids after they drained his abscess.Unfortunately, his condition worsened after this. The next day, I took him to another clinic where he received proper care—fluids, steroid and antibiotic shots, and nutrient gel—for a fraction of the cost. He’s now doing much better. Throughout my experience, I found the staff at I-20 Animal Hospital lacked any sense of urgency or genuine care for my cat’s wellbeing. I cannot recommend them due to their focus on unnecessary testing over compassionate treatment.Pictures below to see how this progressed due to the negligence of I-20 Animal Hospital
April 20 · Richard HanleyI can’t thank the team at I-20 Animal Hospital enough for the compassion and care they showed during one of the hardest moments of my life. From the moment we walked in with our sweet Millie to the final goodbye and beyond, every person we interacted with was kind, patient, and incredibly supportive. It was clear they truly cared about her and our family. I’ll always be grateful for the gentle way they guided us through our worst day. Thank you for the great care y’all provided not only to my sweet Millie but me and my family as well!
July 27 · Miranda MorrisWe love Rebecca Lengel (nee Thornton)! She’s so pleasant and really takes her time with you. You can tell she’s a true animal lover and so gentle with our little dogs. Great vet! Wouldn’t take our babies to anyone else. ❤️❤️
April 12 · Kathy LingleUnder the worst circumstances of needing an emergency vet for our sweet girl, this practice assisted us in the most compassionate and caring manner. Our girl needed to stay overnight for a few nights, but we were updated over the phone or in person (during our visits) every day.The staff was so kind and so accommodating to allow us to spend time with our sweet girl at any time, day or night. Aria on night shift was especially helpful and kind.Dr. Covington was very thorough and compassionate during the diagnostic, treatment, and end-of-life processes. His bedside manner is so kind and supportive. At one point he sat on the floor with us because that’s just where we were sitting at the time with our pup.I highly recommend this clinic for any loved pet. Even though our sweet girl’s condition was terminal, we could not have received better treatment and care for her— and for that I am forever grateful.
May 20 · Erin WeidmanI’m at a loss of words, my Dalmatian Pongo isn’t a dog to me he’s another child of mine. He always so excited to see me every day, and content to just lay in bed and chill. Just knowing you are there when in need makes it easier to get through the day
