★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- Some of the most best Staff here. I've been going here for a while for my ferrets and every time they have been very attentive and caring for my babies and very affordable for what they do. Also the bird (Jasper I think) in the front is a great receptionist. Some of the best here thank you for what you do!10/10 May 14 · Adorninq “ImAPerson”
- Let me start with the fact that i am extremely picky on who i let care for my animals as they are my babies. With that being said James River Animal Hospital has went above and beyond for my Old Skinny Pig (hairless guinea pig.) He did an amazing job with anesthetizing my old guinea pig, and treating the large abscess he had. they are extremely affordable which makes it even better for a lot of us who don’t have the finances to afford $500+ vet visits (which is most places.) - This animal hospital is awesome. I travel from Carterville, 74 miles away, BECAUSE of the great Dr. Hardy and an amazing staff who are friendly, sweet, knowledgeable, and make me feel comfortable. They treat birds, exotics (rabbits, ferrets, rats, among others), reptiles (lizards, turtles, snakes, etc...), cats, and dogs. Their prices are great too. I couldn't imagine taking my fur babies to any other Veterinarian Hospital. April 09 · Glenn
- First off let me say that when I made the appointment I was treated very well by receptionist. I explained my situation and why I needed an emergency visit for my dog. They did not have anything available for same day but we made an APPOINTMENT for the next morning. I live 2 hours away. I made the appointment because exam rate was fair priced compared to my county and close surrounding counties.....and the availability. What has gotten them a 1 star rating is the fact that we were 20 minutes away (of our 2 hour journey) when we got a call canceling our APPOINTMENT due to other emergencies coming in. My dogs appointment was an emergency. We were told to go to the emergency hospital in Springfield. The SAME thing they COULD'VE told the people that had walk in emergencies. I am not taking away from other animals emergencies but they knew that my dogs emergency was time sensitive. My dog had cut her leg open down to the bone the night before I made the appointment. Open wounds down to the bone run the risk of Osteomyelitis (bone infection) which, if left untreated for too long increases the risk of turning septic and then it becomes harder and more difficult to treat. I honestly feel like they canceled because I let them know that this happened during a hard financial time and was told that the Vet could possibly work with us for prices on what needed to be done.I dont know how they treat animals and how they usually are. I just know I am extremely upset and disappointed with how things went today. I am upset that I was told to go somewhere else when walk ins could have been told the same thing. August 09 · Dana M
- I typically don’t do stuff like this, but after what happened this morning I can’t not say anything.I took Bruno in for a bad limp this morning, and while waiting in the exam room for only 5 or so minutes, Dr Hardy began yelling at his front desk receptionist. He was waiting on my paperwork so he could see Bruno but was incredibly impatient. I began recording as I could hear him from inside an exam room with a closed door. His yelling got worse and he then started cussing her out. I had a 5 and 2 year old with me and was appalled that anyone would be so inappropriate like this. As I opened the door he was standing there and I told him we were leaving. He then began to blame it on his front desk receptionist and I made it very clear I was leaving because of how he was speaking to his staff. I told him I would be reporting him and was given a “good luck.”He was being verbally abusive and had narcissisticbehavior as he couldn’t, as a grown man, take responsibility for his outrageous behavior. This was my first and last time going to JRAHDO NOT GO TO JAMES RIVER ANIMAL HOSPITAL!!!I will be reporting Dr Hardy to every possible organization and truly hope the staff took my advice and walked out. Horrible, horrible, horrible! March 04 · Sarah
