This specialization often translates into a deeper understanding of the unique challenges military families face, such as Permanent Change of Station (PCS) moves and the associated pet travel requirements. The clinic excels in providing the necessary documentation and health assessments to facilitate smooth transitions for pets accompanying their owners on new assignments. With a focus on preventative care and comprehensive diagnostics, the Joint Base MDL Veterinary Clinic is a vital resource for maintaining the health of the pets that bring so much joy to military households in New Jersey.
The Joint Base MDL Veterinary Clinic is conveniently located at 3259 Gettysburg Ave, Fort Dix, NJ 08640, USA. This address places it directly within the sprawling Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, making it an incredibly accessible option for military personnel and authorized beneficiaries living on or near the base. For those residing off-base but with access privileges, the clinic is straightforward to locate once you've entered the base premises. Clear signage typically guides visitors to medical and veterinary facilities within military installations.
Accessibility to a military base facility naturally comes with certain access requirements. Visitors without military ID must adhere to base entry procedures, which usually involve presenting valid identification and potentially undergoing a background check at the gate. However, for those with base access, the clinic's location within the base offers unparalleled convenience, eliminating the need to navigate off-base traffic or search for parking in crowded civilian areas. The clinic's dedicated parking, often available right outside the facility, ensures a hassle-free arrival, which is especially beneficial when transporting pets. This integrated location underscores its role as a key service provider for the Joint Base MDL community, offering a secure and familiar environment for pet care.
---The Joint Base MDL Veterinary Clinic offers a comprehensive range of veterinary services designed to meet the essential health needs of pets belonging to authorized patrons. While a "small facility" as noted by a reviewer, its services are mighty in impact and scope, ensuring thorough care for your beloved companions. Here’s an overview of the key services provided:
- Routine Wellness Exams: Fundamental to preventative care, these examinations help catch potential health issues early, ensuring your pet remains healthy and happy. They include a thorough physical assessment from nose to tail.
- Vaccinations: The clinic provides all necessary vaccinations tailored to your pet's age, species, and lifestyle, protecting them from common and serious diseases. This includes core vaccines as well as those recommended based on exposure risk.
- Parasite Prevention and Control: Offering solutions for fleas, ticks, heartworm, and intestinal parasites, they provide testing, preventative medications, and advice to keep your pet free from these common health threats.
- Microchipping: A vital service for pet identification and reunification, microchipping ensures that if your pet ever gets lost, they can be easily identified and returned to you.
- Health Certificates for Travel (PCS): This is a crucial service for military families undergoing a Permanent Change of Station (PCS). The clinic is well-versed in the specific requirements for pet travel, including international and domestic regulations, ensuring all necessary paperwork and health assessments are completed accurately and on time. This includes thorough examinations to fulfill destination country requirements, which can be complex and vary greatly.
- Minor Illness and Injury Care: While not an emergency room, the clinic can address common pet ailments, minor injuries, and acute conditions, providing diagnostics and treatment plans.
- Basic Laboratory Services: For quick diagnostics, the clinic likely offers in-house blood work, urinalysis, and fecal exams to aid in diagnosing conditions efficiently.
- Education and Counseling: The staff and veterinarians provide valuable information and advice on pet nutrition, behavior, preventative care, and managing specific health conditions, empowering owners to make informed decisions.
- Ear Examination and Explanation: As highlighted by a customer review, their vets are highly observant and thorough, capable of noticing and explaining issues (like ear problems) that may have been overlooked by other veterinary professionals. This speaks to their detailed approach to diagnostics.
The Joint Base MDL Veterinary Clinic distinguishes itself through several notable features and highlights that consistently earn it high praise from its patrons. These aspects underscore its commitment to exceptional animal care and customer service within the military community:
- Highly Knowledgeable Veterinary Staff: A consistent highlight from reviews is the profound knowledge possessed by the veterinarians. This compassionate approach is particularly beneficial for rescue animals or pets that may be anxious during vet visits, creating a calmer and more positive experience.

This commitment to clear and thorough communication ensures pet owners are fully informed about their pet's condition, treatment options, and preventative measures, fostering trust and enabling informed decision-making.

We never knew this was a gem.The employees have been extremely kind and patient towards our rescue, from the desk employees to the vet; she never cried once and all staff gave precise and complete information. The vet also noticed her ear and gave an explanation, that several vets before him (2 vet at different veterinary ERs and 3 local vets) have NEVER noticed. This says a lot.Recommended!

Apr 20, 2024 · Nippon FraserWhat an absolutely horrible experience. I went there with my two dogs to get health certificates for our move to Japan. We were given short notice of our itinerary for the flight so I only had a couple of days before the flight to get our HHG shipping, POV storage, and our dogs health certificates completed. And deal with the clinic's limited schedule. Keep in mind this is our very first PCS, and we're traveling to another country. When I went there the first time, everything was fine. Dr. Sahol and his assistant were great and very patient and understanding despite how anxious my dogs were (and how stressed I was). However, when I got home my wife noticed some minor discrepancies on the health certificates, no big deal. Except for one major one. One of my dogs was listed as a cat on their health certificate. That had to be fixed. They were already closed by the time we discovered this so my wife emailed them to let them know and I called the next morning and (after many, many attempts) finally got someone to answer the phone and made the 2 hour drive to the clinic to pick up the corrected health certificates. We understand that mistakes happen. We're all human. We weren't mad, we weren't rude, we were just stressed because we were on such a crunch with time and had to squeeze this extra task in when I had other appointments that day and just needed this fixed. When I got there to pick up what I needed, that's when everything went downhill. I had to deal with that nasty receptionist, Joanna. I simply asked her something unrelated to the health certificates and her response was "I don't know, but this is all your fault because you gave us the wrong information!" Seriously? Are you taking his personally, Joanna? Then she couldn't figure out how (or was just purposely refusing) to send me an emailed copy of the health certificates and tried to get me to leave by telling me I would get the email faster outside. Finally she emailed my wife with the certificates and I was able to leave. But since Joanna wanted to be petty and point out that this was all my fault for providing the wrong information, I can be petty too and pull up the email I sent with my dogs information with the original attachments. AND ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE did I have one of my dogs listed as a CAT! I would absolutely love it if you could show me where I provided you with THAT information!Normally I would have called her out on all of this, but I had much more important things to take care of and not much time to get done what I needed. Bottom line, nobody should have to deal with this kind of unprofessionalism. Especially a family who is going through such a stressful experience.I would appreciate it if someone from this clinic would reach out to me regarding this. Thank you.
