Long Island Veterinary Acupuncture

1924 Wantagh Ave, Wantagh, NY 11793, USA

4.0
Danger fell off our bed and landed on his head and while he seemed to have fully recovered, we felt he was still joy 100 percent and decided to seek Accupuncture treatment with Dr Malik about a month after his fall. We have been so incredibly impressed. Dr Malik is compassionate, thorough and possibly the loveliest veterinarian we have ever met! Best of all, Danger had dramatic improvement in his movement after his first treatment and showed no signs of his previous gait abnormalities. Fortunately we had taken video of Danger's movement immediately after his fall and again two weeks later so she was able to see exactly where he was moving badly which helped our treatment plan dramatically. I cannot recommend Dr Malik and her staff highly enough and recommend her wholeheartedly. Danger loves his visits there! - Carleen Menkes

Services Offered

**Long Island Veterinary Acupuncture** specializes in providing a range of complementary and alternative therapies, with a primary focus on veterinary acupuncture. Their services are designed to address various conditions, particularly those involving pain, mobility, and neurological issues. The core services offered typically include:

  • Veterinary Acupuncture: This is the cornerstone of their practice. Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine needles into specific points on the animal's body to stimulate energy flow (Qi), reduce pain and inflammation, promote circulation, and encourage the body's natural healing mechanisms. It is commonly used for musculoskeletal problems (arthritis, disc disease, hip dysplasia), neurological disorders (seizures, paralysis), chronic pain, and some internal medicine conditions.

  • Herbal Medicine: Often used in conjunction with acupuncture, traditional Chinese veterinary herbal medicine utilizes specific plant formulations to support organ function, reduce inflammation, strengthen the immune system, and address underlying imbalances contributing to a pet's illness. Herbal remedies are tailored to individual pet needs.

  • Pain Management: A key focus of the clinic, providing comprehensive strategies to alleviate acute and chronic pain in pets. This can involve a combination of acupuncture, herbal medicine, and potentially recommendations for conventional pain medications or other modalities.

  • Rehabilitation Support: While not a full-scale rehabilitation center, acupuncture plays a crucial role in supporting rehabilitation efforts for pets recovering from injuries, surgeries, or those with degenerative conditions. It helps improve muscle function, nerve regeneration, and overall mobility.

  • Wellness and Preventative Care (Holistic Approach): While not a general practice for routine vaccinations, a holistic clinic often provides advice on nutrition, lifestyle adjustments, and preventative measures from a complementary medicine perspective to support overall well-being and disease prevention.

  • Geriatric Support: Acupuncture and herbal medicine are particularly beneficial for senior pets experiencing age-related conditions such as arthritis, cognitive dysfunction, and general decline in energy or mobility, helping to improve their quality of life.

  • Consultations and Assessment: Thorough initial consultations are essential to assess the pet's condition, review their medical history, and develop a personalized treatment plan that integrates complementary therapies with any ongoing conventional veterinary care.

The clinic's specialization means they offer a unique and valuable set of tools for pet owners seeking alternative or supplementary treatments for their animals' health challenges.
