★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I’m absolutely shocked at how inconsiderate and careless this vet is. I’ve been taking my dogs here since the first dog I ever owned which was actually put down by Dr. Barbier. I’m now starting to question and regret not getting a 2nd option.Fast forward to NOW I brought my baby boy in to check out his ear hematoma. They told me it could possibly be from allergies and convinced me to give him a cytopoint shot for allergies without doing any tests or knowing 100% that we’re not just giving him a shot for no reason. Dr. Barbier examined his ear and told me NO INFECTION , she’s going to prescribe a steroid and it should help drain by itself. Ok cool. I asked her if physically draining it was an option she told me she doesn’t like draining when there’s this steroid. So she sent us home with the medicine. Almost 2 weeks later I bring him back in bc NO progress was made whatsoever. They took my dog back and did a blood test without letting me know which I let slide because I wanted his blood done anyways & told me that surgery was the only next step. They started trying to book appointments for surgery and I’m talking about in a hurry! The next day Mikayla calls with his blood results and tells me my dog has HIGH liver enzymes!!! ( my dog has never had any issues with his liver.) I asked her what could the cause be? She couldn’t answer any of my questions without having to go ask the doctor. I mean why have her call if she’s clueless about what’s going on?? When she came back she told me it could be from the medicine he was taking that they prescribed. I asked so stop giving him the medicine correct?” Once again she had to go ask the doctor and told me she’d call me back. Four hours later she calls back however I didn’t answer because at this point I need another vet’s opinion. She left me a message still talking about surgery and told me to stop giving him the medicine. I knew I didn’t want surgery done bc it will ruin my dogs ear and he’ll lose sensitivity in his ear! I brought him to another vet and he gave me COMPLETELY different advice and options. He told me he in fact DOES have a infection and that’s the cause of the hematoma! Went ahead and cleaned his ears and drained the hematoma with no problems… I think it’s extremely disrespectful and careless to not have someone’s pet’s best interest but rather be money hungry instead. That’s not RIGHT! I’ll never take my pets here again. I can’t even imagine what would’ve happened if I continued to put my trust in these ppl.
May 12 · Vanessa CWe've been taking our dog here since we adopted her 3 years ago. Recently, she has been experiencing urinary incontinence and we took her to get checked a month ago. During the visit, I was seen by a tech and was told that they would be taking a urine sample to rule out UTI. After requiring to put a muzzle on my dog (like every visit) the staff brought her to the back I was given the info that the results came back negative and got prescribed tablets to "see if it'll work". I never got to see the Vet that day, but I had a few questions about the medication. All I got in response was, "Let me ask her". I ended up leaving with a bill over $300 with added expenses like an ultrasound on top of other fees. Of course, I will pay for the medical bill because I want to make sure that my dog gets better because it makes me sad seeing her pee herself throughout the day. After a few days, our dog was still experiencing leaking and called the clinic to state the pills weren't working. I talked to the vet and she said over the phone, "Well, you were only in just a few days ago. Give the pills a longer time to work" with a condescending voice. All I wanted were answers and I'm not very well versed in how animal medication works so I took the response with a grain of salt and left it at that.Last week, my husband received a missed call from the clinic. He called back and nobody picked up and left a voicemail. We waited a few days but we never received a call. We thought this was very unprofessional and decided to transfer our dog to another clinic. We gave them another call informing them we never received a call back from the Vet and that we would like to have our dog's files transferred over to the new clinic. The receptionist told my husband that she would leave a note to the Vet and she will email it to us. We continued to wait, but no email of our dog files. We contacted the new Vet twice and they said they tried contacting Magnolia and never received any files. Today, I ended up calling Magnolia and said I was coming in person and expected to have my dog files. Of course, they had all the files ready for me and the Vet also came out of her office and said she sent over the files. Why did it have to be where I finally lost my cool and where they started getting stuff done? She even had the nerve to say, "I'm sorry the tablets didn't work" and after doing research I countered with, "It's okay we'll do the next step with Proin". The Vet said, "Yes, we have that in stock if you'd like to continue with us" and I said, "No thank you". Like the audacity to get more money out of me after not apologizing for taking so long? No.Ironically, the new Vet we decided to take our dog to was someone I know from high school over 12 years ago. The vibes were completely different. She didn't want to use a muzzle on my dog and when they took her to the back and said she did a great job without one. She came back and said that our dog's bladder has a lot of urine in it and recommended doing a Urine Culture. They printed out an estimate BEFORE doing any procedures with a verified signature which was something Magnolia NEVER did for us. I asked the new Vet her honest opinion and she said she would have just gone straight to the urine culture and prescribed Proin.I researched and found that "A urinalysis only identifies if bacteria is present or not. It does not identify the quantity of bacteria, the name of the bacteria, or which antibiotics the bacteria is sensitive to. Without a culture, the vet is just making their best-educated guess at which antibiotic will work at correcting the UTI."It's unfortunate, that some Vets make educated guesses and quote, "see if it'll work" as if people just have money lying around for trial and error. Also, to do all these unnecessary added procedures. I love my dog and would do anything for her so I'm pleased to have her at this new clinic.
March 12 · AJ PainterThis place is awesome! Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming! We live on the north side of town and it is definitely worth the drive coming down here for us. Everyone there made us feel like they really cared for our puppy and we are beyond appreciative of that. Ironically our puppy’s litter mate was there the same time we were and they brought him in so got to play for a little. I thought that that was really thoughtful of the staff! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone looking for a vet, groomer, boarder! Thanks again guys!!
October 07 · Anthony BrooksWe have been going to Dr. Barbier for some time until yesterday when I had an altercation with Stacy at the front desk for the second time since becoming a patient. The first time I let it slide thinking perhaps she had a bad day. I called yesterday frantic requesting an urgent appointment as I believe my dog ingesting chocolate is an urgent matter, Stacy made me aware the doctor was not in the office, I requested to speak to one of the techs as a matter of fact I insisted to speak to one of the techs in case I needed to follow any protocols prior to rushing her to an urgent facility to which she reluctantly responded they are all busy and you won’t be able to be seeing regardless, she proceeded to ask my pets name only to follow with I can’t interrupt the techs take your pet to the Animal Hospital, to which I inquire which one, her respond was cold ANY. Stacy allow me to remind you, YOU represent Magnolia wellness pet center and Dr Barbier, your lack of empathy, compassion and costumer service had me shaken. We will no longer continue to be patients at this facility.
February 27 · Sandra HerreraThe staff at Magnolia Pet Wellness are so kind and gentle with my fur babies! And Dr. Christina Barbier has given my Squeaky another 6 months to her senior life! And she is helping us deal with Foxy’s issues also. I drive over 15 miles to help my dog with her arthritis via acupuncture treatments! Highly recommend!
