As noted by one local client, the veterinarians, such as **Dr. Bennett**, are easy to talk to, genuinely listen to concerns, and focus on providing necessary care without unnecessary 'upselling.' They are committed to providing advice and information about general animal husbandry and specific conditions, empowering California pet owners to be active partners in their pet’s well-being. The hospital's mission is to treat every pet with the same care and compassion as they would their own, a value reflected in their friendly, welcoming staff and clinical approach.
The hospital is led by **Dr. Jason Bennett, DVM**, who took over the practice in August 2019. His extensive experience with various animal species translates into a broad and informed perspective on animal health care. He was drawn to the Ventura area for its consistent surf and mountain access, but his dedication to providing the community with quality veterinary medicine without sacrificing the feel of a small-town, intimate clinic is what defines the practice today.
The hospital has been a fixture in Southern California for over 50 years, and their dedication to service is reflected in their inclusive and welcoming atmosphere, proudly noted as an **LGBTQ+ friendly** establishment. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- I recently came to Mission Animal Hospital for my new kitten's very first appointment. I adopted him from someone who wasn't forthcoming about his medical history so I asked Dr. Bennett to give my kitten everything he would recommend, I also asked for a nail trim (he has some crazy sharp kitten nails).I have been here before with my 7 year old cat Rocko. We were new to the area last year, tried the vet on base at Port Hueneme and did not like how they handled Rocko's care and found our way to Mission.Dr. Bennett is wonderful, he is really easy to talk to, really listens to your concerns about your pet, and seems to give his genuine opinion; not like other vets who are always trying to upsell certain heartworm meds or flea medication.I was a little worried about how my new kitten Echo would respond to being at the vet for the first time. He was VERY comfortable. He was trying to explore everything, grooming himself and trying to climb on Dr. Bennett- who was so kind and gentle to him.Echo received his first two vaccines, a nail trim, a blood test, and I was given flea medication as well as a canister to take home to collect a stool sample which I brought back the next day. I was given the results of the FELV/FIV test within 10 minutes and the results from the stool sample within a day.All of the staff I have interacted with have been wonderful. The front desk employees are always so welcoming and make me feel great every time I interact with them in person or over the phone. The photographs of animals throughout the office are adorable. Parking is easy, there is a shared parking lot and street parking.I can't recommend Mission Animal Hospital enough. June 28 · Kristin Jung

- Finding the right vet is really hard, especially as they've become very busy in the area over the last few years. Mission Animal Hospital, specifically Dr. Bennett, have come highly recommended by multiple sources. I've brought my two year old blue heeler for a few things now, and I always have a great experience. I recently got another blue heeler and brought her in as well. I really appreciate the time Dr. Bennett spends with the dogs, and discussing the issue they're in for, and answering any and all questions. He really takes the time with each patient, and I really like that. I feel like I really can go do the doctor with any concern I have about Meeko or Lilo and he will be willing to offer any help he can.On top of the great service from Dr. Bennett and all the staff at the clinic, their prices are incredibly reasonable. Prescriptions are competivie with any pet pharmacy online, and his fees are more than reasonable.I'd absolutely recommend Mission Animal Hospital and Dr. Bennett to anyone looking for a good, trustworthy vet in Ventura. - As a dog *mom*, I have been so happy with the care my sweet pup has received at Mission Animal Hospital. I am pretty much always able to get an appointment in a reasonable manner of time, and when we are there it never feels rushed. Dr. Bennett is very thoughtful, thorough, and seems to take a holistic approach to any issues we’ve dealt with — which I appreciate immensely. He even did spay surgery on my sweet (3 year old) girl and did a lovely job. She has never been crate trained, so it was important to me that she would be comfortable and well looked after. It went really well. The bedside manner here is absolutely wonderful, we couldn’t be happier. It also seems like everyone that works there is happy and appears to get along, which is pleasant to see. I also appreciate that I have never once felt upsold. Thank you, Mission Animal team, for such wonderful care! July 15 · Loren Johnson
