I brought my Saint to this clinic on a Sunday with an intestinal blockage. He wouldn’t eat and even water came back up within an hour. Every other vet was closed for the weekend. VES quoted me $7,000 for surgery and $3,000 for overnight care, which I couldn’t afford as a college student. I paid $860 for fluids and meds to stabilize him, and was told he should make it through the night so I could transfer him to Anicira in the morning, where they could treat him for a lot less ($2,000).In the afternoon on that same day, he stopped breathing. I called begging for CPR instructions, and was told “They’re usually too far gone”. I tried everything, but he didn’t make it. The woman on the end of the line hung up without a second thought once I started crying. The next morning, someone from Anicira called to schedule his surgery. I was gutted. He could’ve made it. I lost my sweet boy because of the outrageous prices charged by the VES. Saint deserved better than to be treated like a financial decision. I have never been more devastated. I loved him more than anything in this world and I would’ve done anything to save him. But NO ONE has that kind of money lying around. You people are sick. - Ezra Jenkins
