Astoria Veterinary Group Reviews
New and improved interior is super clean and spacious. I love how airy and plenty of sunlight coming in the waiting area. Not cramped and depressing like most vet clinics I've been to. Plenty of room means less crowded when waiting for service.Examination room also clean and well equipped. My doctor is highly attentive and responsive to calls and e-mails. Also, she is great on following up on the progress of treatment and recommendations. I'm satisfied with the service. I highly recommend Astoria Veterinary Group to any pets owner.
Nov 12, 2024 · A.C. LambertI’ve been taking my cat here for years and honestly, I’m not sure why other than the fact that he’s been there before. The bedside manner is very hit or miss and I’ve yet to see the same vet twice so there’s not been any feeling of consistency w my pet. Fortunately, he doesn’t get sick very often.I recently traveled w my cat and he experienced motion sickness and when I called for help/advice/hopefully a prescription to alleviate his distress on the return trip, I was rushed off the phone by the receptionist after being told there was nothing they would/could do remotely. Such a bummer.
Jul 02, 2025 · Sarah LauxI want to start to this review by saying I definitely recommend anyone who has a pet in Astoria should bring their animal here. The office staff are all kind, quick, and knowledgeable, and I always have a pleasant interaction with them when I take my dog in. They’re very organized and always give my insurance the proper documentation to process claims quickly. The doctors are awesome as well. I’ve seen two and they were both great at explaining medical science at a level of rigor that’s neither overly complex nor overly simplistic/patronizing. I leave feeling more knowledgeable about my dog and how to care for him every time I go in.The nurses (vet techs?) are great too—kind and gentle with my dog, and very helpful when I have questions. My one criticism (which I won’t take a star off for because I think the rest of their service is great) is that when I was in the waiting room, a gentleman who works in the back came out and tried to convince me to sign up for some kind of insurance (which he kept insisting wasn’t insurance—it’s just a monthly fee you pay some company to cover emergency medical expenses 🤔). No one goes to the vet looking to be solicited and subjected to some time share pitch. It felt kind of predatory, insulting to my intelligence, and just sort of inappropriate for the setting. I don’t know if he makes money off commissions for getting people to sign up or something. It left a bad taste in my mouth.Still, I’m throwing AVG that 5 star rating because my pet gets great care there, which is what’s important.
May 08, 2025 · Evan Bowen-GaddyVery professional and attentive. Don’t know who was more nervous - my cat or me. They very quickly did their testing. In and out pretty quickly for a non-emergency matter. Got back to me with test results within 48 hours. I will take her back for her shots as well as her sibling for his wellness visit and subsequent vaccinations. I do recommend the practice.
Jun 05, 2025 · Steffill (Steffill)I have been a client of AVG since I moved to Queens in 1994. In all that time, I have never wanted to change vets, as the level of care and concern shown by both the doctors and the staff of AVG has always been first class.I have seen a few generations of AVG vets retire and/or relocate. Life goes on. But, there has always been continuity. Every vet knew my pets. Every vet showed my pets respect and partnered with me in the caring of my pets. I am a cat owner and over the years, AVG has cared for 12 of my cats.Dr. Song is my vet these days. I remember Dr. Song when she was in vet school and was starting her career at AVG. We are now caring for Pattie Cat, a 15 year old senior who is starting to experience those inevitable end of life issues. Dr. Song is patient with me and my many questions. She is very knowledgeable and experienced in dealing with senior kitties and looks for a reasonable plan of care to insure their health and comfort.Over the years, Sorel, one of the long time business managers, has helped make the running of the office more efficient. Scheduled appointment times are kept, invoicing is accurate, things move along nicely. A very much top notch front of the house, as well.
