It suggests that while the intention might be to provide care, the execution can have profound impacts on pet owners.
Conversely, other reviews indicate positive experiences, particularly regarding the helpfulness and thoroughness of the staff for routine visits. For instance, a client shared a positive first-time annual visit experience, stating, "The front desk was friendly and personable. Our doctor (wish we caught his name) took the time to educate us on dog food, pet insurances, and more. As first time dog owners, we were very appreciative of his words. The staff was also transparent about the costs of each service! We were happy with their care!" This illustrates that for general consultations and education, the practice can offer valuable service, with transparency regarding costs and a willingness to educate new pet owners. These varied experiences underscore the importance of individual interactions and the diverse needs of pet owners when evaluating veterinary care. It also highlights that Dr. Pet MD, like any medical practice, can have varying outcomes and service perceptions.

Dr Pet MD Reviews
On April 22we took our cat Mia to the vet(Dr. Pet M.D . 25-63 Steinway St, Astoria, NY 11103) because she wasn’t pooping. This was the first time that we took Mia to this vet. The vet’s name was Jennifer Monaco. She examined my cat Mia and told me that she has hair balls. The vet asked me if I wanted to leave my cat for the day at her office, so she can try to remove the hair balls. The vet explained to me that she was going to give my cat Enemas and IV to help her to get rid of the hair balls. So I said OK. I wanted my cat to feel better and have her come home with us. They called me around 6 PM to go get my Mia. I saw my cat, very tired and weak. I asked the doctor if that was normal, the vet said yes and that she would not be eating anything tonight, but tomorrow she will feel OK. The vet also told me if in two days she’s not pooping bring her back. Two days passed and my cat still wasn’t pooping, so I took her back to the vet. The vet told me she was going to do the same thing she did before. The was when the vet also told me that she was using her finger to pull out the hairball from my cats rectum. The vet took some x-rays both the first time and second time I took my cat to her office. She also gave her some medication for the first time to take home and Iv but it didn’t work. When I went back to the office for my cat, for the second time - I saw my cat looking worst than the first time. She wasn’t meowing nor was she moving at all. Again, I asked the vet if she would be OK, my cat doesn’t look OK to me. The vet told me yes she will be fine. She’s like that because we had to give her a bath, because she poop all over herself. I took my cat home, I put her in a crate so I can monitor if she was pooping. All what my cat wanted to do that night was just sleep she was not eating nor moving at all. The next day in the morning, I saw her sleeping, we called her by her name she didn’t move at all. Then I told myself I am taking her to the emergency. She doesn’t look OK that all. I picked up my cat from the crate I was hugging her, at the same time I was trying to make an appointment to the ASPCA in the city. She opened her eyes. She meowed twice while looking at me like asking for help. I was on the phone with the ASPCA operator and she was telling me to bring your cat now. My cat took two deep breaths, she pooped herself and passed away in my arms. This was one of the worst experiences I have in my life seeing my cat gone and I couldn’t do anything to save her. Mia was such a wonderful cat. She was like another kid in my house. She was very playful, she used to sit with us for hours to watch TV, she used to go to the toy room with my daughter Sophia and spent so much time with her playing. My daughter used to say Mia was her best friend she never left her side. She was a seven year old healthy cat. We never had to take her to the doctor because she was sick just, only for her follow visits every year. I had a feeling the doctor knew what she did, because when she gave me Mia the last time, she was looking at Mia all the time, it was strange to me but I thought everything was OK. Afterwards, when I told the vet, she didn’t seem to care about what happened to my cat, only worrying about if I was going to sue her because what happened to Mia.
Jan 07, 2025 · Family FirstWe came for an annual visit for the first time. The front desk was friendly and personable. Our doctor (wish we caught his name) took the time to educate us on dog food, pet insurances, and more. As first time dog owners, we were very appreciative of his words. The staff was also transparent about the costs of each service! We were happy with their care!
Jan 12, 2025 · Rebecca AWe made an appointment for our kitten a month ago for 5 pm today for a booster vaccine. We walked by several times this week, noticed it was closed, and thought it was odd. We called and emailed and received no response. Yesterday, we received a confirmation text and confirmation link for the appointment. We confirmed and arrived at our appointment time. It’s completely shuttered down and closed. Not only did this vet disappear without informing clients, they continued to confirm appointments while being closed. Now I have no way to contact them for my kitten’s records, and by the time we have a new appt at a new vet, he might be out of range for the booster and require restarting the regimen. Unbelievably negligent and irresponsible.
Feb 06, 2025 · Kelsey ArensonTo Current and Future clients: please be cautious with this location as the new management is incredibly unresponsive and disorganized. We had attempted to get in contact with them multiple times last week for a prescription we have been receiving regularly for the last year or so. We had multiple missed calls, and email threads until we were able to get in contact with them. Finally after hearing back from them I had notified them that I would be coming to pick up the prescription and they had confirmed.I showed up only to be told that they were unable to fill the prescription at this location and had to go to their other location to get their prescription pad. At this point the uber was outside waiting as it was going to take me to the pharmacy that closed early that day. Unfortunately I did not have time to wait around which is why I confirmed that morning. When my fiance called apparently the staff was also not only extremely rude, but extremely petty as well. From the time I left and she had called they decided that the physical we got 3 months ago wasn’t acceptable to provide the prescription and in order to get the prescription that they were supposed to provide that day, instead we would have to pay them an additional $80 for a physical. They claimed it was legal reasons but obviously the vet had become hot headed and decided to go this route instead. Which is not a problem, considering we are caring for an elderly dog, we spend to much money to have to deal with unorganized, incompetent, and nasty people who care more about making a quick buck then taking accountability. To the new vet taking over: whenever you let your disorganization lead to a client being unable to receive their prescription you are putting the pet in unnecessary risk. I hope you learn to do better, unfortunately I will not be there to see it as I will no longer be a customer.
Dec 16, 2024 · Paul BisonoFront manager was rude and unhelpful. Make it seem like all they want is money. They demand i bring my cat in who was there in November for the same evaluation fir prescribed meds just prescribed. They want $80 for nothing. The manager wouldn't have the vet call me back. They didn't even know about the new app they sent me. Asking me what the name was. Now I'm here during buisness hours and it looks like it's closed down. Where is my med prescription?
