The Cat Hospital distinguishes itself with several key features that make it an exceptional choice for feline care in California:
Exclusively Feline Focus: This is arguably their most significant highlight. Being a "cat-only" clinic means the entire environment, from the waiting room to the exam rooms, is designed to minimize stress for cats. As one reviewer noted, their cat "came home like nothing even happened" after a visit, unlike previous experiences at vets with dogs. The "exceptionally quiet" waiting room is a direct benefit of this specialization, providing a calm atmosphere that anxious cats (and their owners) truly appreciate.
Compassionate and Knowledgeable Staff: Customers consistently praise the staff for being "very caring and friendly," as well as "professional and insightful." Dr. Shanker, specifically, was lauded for listening to all questions and answering them thoroughly. This dedication ensures that both pets and their owners feel understood and supported.
Efficient and Flexible Service: The ability to accommodate "drop-off" appointments, even when busy, and have a cat ready to go home in just two hours, demonstrates remarkable efficiency and consideration for client convenience. This is a crucial feature for busy pet owners.
Reasonable and Transparent Pricing: A standout highlight is the affordability, with one client expressing surprise at a total bill (including medications) being "less than $200," a rarity in veterinary care. This commitment to reasonable pricing makes high-quality feline care accessible.
Exceptional Follow-up and Client Education: The clinic's dedication to client support is exemplary. A client who had previously spent over $15,000 on cat medical expenses had "never even had a single follow-up call" until visiting The Cat Hospital, where the doctor called twice to ensure understanding of prescriptions and even offered training on inhaler use. This proactive communication builds immense trust and ensures optimal pet care at home.
Community Involvement and Care Beyond Scheduled Appointments: The touching story of the lost neighborhood cat being swiftly microchip-scanned and reunited with its owner by the caring staff, even without an official appointment, showcases the clinic's genuine commitment to animal welfare and its community. This act of kindness speaks volumes about their mission.

The Cat Hospital Reviews
I had an amazing experience taking my cat Munki here for a second opinion—and now this will be her primary care team. First of all, they were pretty booked, but they still allowed me to do a drop-off. She was ready to come home just two hours later!I’ve never left the vet with a bill under $200, and after not only the visit but also the prescribed medications, it was less than that. On top of it all, the doctor called me twice once to make sure I understood the prescription and again to explain to me about training on an inhaler. Let me just say, I’ve spent over $15,000 in medical expenses for my two cats, and I’ve never even had a single follow-up call!Another great thing: my cat usually comes home super stressed after going to the vet, especially if she’s encountered dogs. This time, she came home like nothing even happened.I would highly recommend taking your cat here!
May 15, 2025 · Stacie PeaseWe brought our cat here for a checkup and he received great care from Dr. Shanker. He was very professional and insightful, listened to all our questions and answered all of them. The pricing was reasonable, and the waiting room was exceptionally quiet since it's cat-only.On the very next day, we found a friendly but shaken kitty meowing outside our door, who appeared to be an indoor cat. We were able to grab the kitty and started looking for a place to have her microchip scanned — and the first place that comes to mind is The Cat Hospital. The staff were very caring and friendly; she swiftly had the microchip scanned, called the microchip company and got in touch with the owner, who came to pick up the kitty shortly. As it happens it was our upstairs neighbor's cat! We are just so happy that the kitty got home safe and sound. We didn't have the time to express our gratitude that day — thank you so much for helping the sweet kitty!
May 15, 2025 · JasonAbsolutely unacceptable experience — avoid this place at all costs.I brought my cat here after waiting nearly a month for a grooming appointment I booked over the phone (haircut, wash, nail trim, etc.). On the day of the appointment, I dropped off my cat and heard nothing for 8 hours. I finally went in to check what was happening, and they casually told me it would be another 30 minutes. When they finally returned my cat, they had only done a nail trim and a basic wash — nothing else, even though the main reason I came was for her hair issue. No explanation, no apology, just a rushed response. To make things worse, the receptionist — I believe her name was Fatima — was shockingly rude and unprofessional. I simply asked for clarification, and she responded with sarcasm and a terrible attitude, as if I was bothering her by asking about my own pet.Apparently, my cat was kept in a cage for 8 hours, with no food, no updates, and basically no care provided. This is not how any animal — or customer — should be treated. This place is disorganized, careless, and disrespectful. Never trust them with your pet again.
Jun 07, 2025 · Mehmet YilmazUpdate 02/17/2025My cat started vomiting since 3-4 days and I called the hospital and when I told this they were very helpful to find a cancelled appointment and Dr shanker looked at my cat and provided the necessary treatment and suggested tests if my cat still continues to show the same symptoms.Despite being super busy the front desk staff were super nice . Gave info clearly.Thank you Cat hospital.Date 02/11/2025My cat wanted a checkup as I did not get an appointment had to drop off my cat here. Dropped off at 9 and picked up by 330.Dr Shanker and the Staff here are very good. And polite. They told me that my cat was doing fine and suggested eye drops for the infectionThey did not suggest any fancy checkups or high markup items. This is good. BTW I forgot to take back cat bed and they managed to keep it with them safely with them and returned it during pickup. Thank you.My cat is generally good with people BUT for some reason that day they said he seemed scared seeing other cats and was not cooperative and hence had to sedate him(after I gave consent … did not know I would be charged but anyways) . Would have been nice if they find ways to skip this step in the future.Overall very good hospital. Will rate 4.5/5.I will go here again for his general checkup later with appointment and update my appointment experience.
