I can’t say enough good things about Virginia Veterinary Centers — Fredericksburg. Last Wednesday morning our almost 14 year old Bichon started trembling and had labored breathing. He was literally fine a minute before. Our regular vet didn’t have any vets on staff for the next hour and a half. Not wanting to wait, I called VVC, and they said to bring him in. The ladies at the front desk were wonderful getting us settled and ensuring we filled out the paperwork. They took Nico back right away to check his vitals and take blood. He was stable, and we didn’t have to wait long to see Dr Robinson. She was very thorough and since the results of the bloodwork were fairly unremarkable we decided on X-rays. We left to run some errands, and Dr Robinson kept us updated via text. When we returned, we found out he had a mass on his spleen. We decided on surgery, and since he had fluid in his abdomen it needed to be done soon. He was prepped for a splenectomy surgery right away. We went home and waited for a phone call. The surgeon, Dr Ericksen, called later that afternoon to update us. Nico had a mass rupture on his spleen, plus they took biopsies from his liver and stomach. He was in recovery and doing very well. We were able to pick him up the next day and given thorough instructions and meds. Unfortunately we won’t know Nico’s future until we receive his biopsy results, but Dr Robinson and Dr Eriksen saved his life that day. Nico has been feeling better each day, and we just want to do what’s best for him. Thank you again to all of the staff at VVC from the front desk, to the vet techs, to the vets. I’ve included photos of Nico right after we brought him home and today, four days later with his little sister, Gianna and brother, Jackson. ❤️ - Linda P
