Easy Aquariums - Portsmouth Reviews
Easily the best aquarium shop around. It is very evident that they put a lot of care and attention towards their fish, which look healthy and happy. The bettas are not in small containers which is great to see. Also the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. 10/10
Feb 01, 2025 · MuteCaseA shame they're closing but their Westbrook location is fantastic too, super friendly folks and a great selection of healthy fish. The betta and rosy loach in the pictures came from their store and have been doing so well in my tank.
Jun 09, 2025 · Sophie WakitaBefore I say anything I want to say they were getting ready to close down a couple of weeks before I went in. So I was on the hunt trying to find a trust worthy place were I could find something for my tank to fill the missing holes . I was looking for something different but larger and knew it would be a hard task at hand. I searched every fish store in a 2 hour parameter and I arrived here. I met with an employee that seemed not so knowledgeable about fish but was kind and helpful. I quickly found an upside cat fish but couldn’t find what I was really after. This gentlemen said well I have a bala shark outback. He is healthy but bigger and didn’t have a tank to really house it . So I checked it out. Clearly this fish was in a very small tank for being 11 inches I felt terrible. I asked many questions and he always said it was healthy but I could see an abrasion on its nose but really couldn’t inspect the fish. I have a huge heart and even though it’s not the fish I was looking I couldn’t leave it in such a small tank so I purchased the fish.I brought it home and let is adjust to its smaller tank mates but something seemed off . It appeared very stressed and never really settled down. Acting very weird I was suspicious. Ensuring I treat the tank for his previous injury little did I know it was far too late . Unfortunately this fish had ich a common illness in the fish world. Treatable if found. Unfortunately the fish died before it was even possible to fix and infected the rest of my tank. Something I wish was better was the communication and honestly from this store. Be upfront and honest and let people know. Stop housing fish in small tanks and generally just do better. I have since visited your other location that does seem much more knowledgeable and fish look very happy. Maybe it was because of the closing of the other location but highly disappointed in this Interaction!
May 24, 2025 · Dan BlanchetteSadly I can’t give more than 3 stars on this. Honestly it’s borderline 2. I’ll start with the good. The staff are very friendly and ready and willing to help. The freshwater aquatic section is great. It’s clean and stocked with some really cool specimens. I go to a lot, and I mean a lot of aquatic stores all over New England. This review rating more applies to the saltwater section than really any other part of the store. The tanks are dirty. I’ve been a couple times before I decided to write this due it possibly being close to a cleaning cycle or maybe a missed cleaning. You can’t ignore the diatoms on the sand and most of the tanks have aiptasia in them. The larger coral display tanks have brown hair algae growing all over the racks and onto the coral. Some of the sps are bleaching out. I’d be super hesitant to put anything from these tanks into my system. There’s plenty of good in the store but the salt section rings it way down sadly.
Mar 26, 2025 · shawn richerI went to the Portsmouth location. I’m setting up a new shrimp tank. I needed some plants and decor. Their selection was a bit lower after the holidays and the person I talked to was very open about that and gave info on when more would be in. I still found some very nice driftwood and a live plant. The person I spoke to was extremely intelligent, well educated on the animals they had and well spoken. They helped me select plants and gave me a ton of information on them. They also have a reptile room and all of their reptiles come from rescues that don’t have the space to care for them. A great experience and I will be back. Impeccably clean, well cared for and great selection even when running low. Their bettas were in actual tanks with live plants and filters and heaters. Not cups. It was wonderful.
