Petland Largo is strategically located at 10289 Ulmerton Rd, Largo, FL 33771, USA. Ulmerton Road is a major and highly trafficked east-west artery in Pinellas County, which makes this Petland store exceptionally accessible for residents throughout Largo and surrounding communities. Its central position within the county ensures that it's a convenient destination for Floridians from Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Pinellas Park, Seminole, and other neighboring areas.
The address suggests that Petland Largo is situated within a commercial area or a large retail plaza, which typically provides ample parking. This is a significant convenience for customers, especially when visiting a pet store where they may spend a considerable amount of time interacting with puppies, selecting necessary supplies, or picking up a new family member. The ease of access from major roadways contributes to its suitability as a local shopping destination for pet supplies and puppy purchases.
For Florida residents planning a visit to Petland Largo, the prominent location on Ulmerton Road ensures straightforward navigation. A quick search using a GPS or mapping application will provide the most efficient route from any specific starting point in Florida directly to the store.
Petland Largo focuses on the sale of puppies and provides a range of associated services and programs designed to support new pet owners in Florida. Based on their general corporate offerings and customer reviews, here's a comprehensive overview of what they typically provide:
- Puppy Sales: Petland offers a wide variety of puppy breeds. Customers come to choose from available puppies on-site.
- Health Guarantees: Petland locations generally provide various health warranties. These often include:
- A 14-day Viral/Bacterial Warranty.
- A 1-Year Hereditary and Congenital Warranty.
- An extended 10-year Hereditary/Congenital Warranty, often contingent upon purchasing specific food and supplements from Petland.
- In-Store Veterinary Consultations/Services: Some Petland locations, including potentially Largo, operate with an "in-house" or "their" vet for initial examinations and follow-up care for puppies sold. Customers are usually required to take their new puppy to this vet within a few days of purchase for a health check.
- Puppy Wellness Programs: These programs often involve regular de-worming and vaccination schedules for puppies while at the store.
- Training Programs: Petland typically offers resources for puppy training, which may include in-store sessions or access to a toll-free training hotline.
- Microchipping: Puppies generally go home microchipped for identification with services like AKC Reunite.
- Lifetime Membership/Discounts: Petland may offer a "Lifetime Membership" to their store, providing various discounts on products.
- Initial Supply Kits: Puppies often come with a "welcome home kit" or initial supplies, which may be included in the overall purchase price.
- Financing Options: Petland commonly offers financing options for puppy purchases to make them more accessible to customers.
- Spay/Neuter Program: Some Petland locations provide a free spay or neuter for every puppy, emphasizing responsible pet ownership.
It's important for Floridian customers to thoroughly review the specific terms and conditions of all guarantees and programs directly with Petland Largo, as details can vary and often have requirements to remain valid.
Petland Largo's operations, as perceived by customers, come with a mix of highlighted features, both positive aspects and areas of concern, which Floridians should consider:
- Wide Selection of Puppies: A key draw is the ability to see and choose from a variety of puppy breeds in one location. This offers convenience for Floridians looking for a specific type of companion.
- Initial Staff Interaction: Some customers report positive experiences with staff during the initial puppy selection process, finding them helpful and attentive.
- Extensive Health Guarantees (with caveats): Petland promotes comprehensive health warranties, including short-term viral/bacterial coverage and longer-term hereditary/congenital guarantees (up to 10 years). However, customer reviews indicate that qualifying for and utilizing these guarantees can be complex and may require strict adherence to purchasing specific Petland-recommended foods and supplements.
- In-House Veterinary Process: The requirement to visit "their vet" for initial health checks offers a structured process for verifying a puppy's health post-purchase. However, a customer review indicates frustration with the responsiveness and perceived effectiveness of this veterinary support when a puppy remained sick.
- Financing Options: The availability of financing can make puppy ownership more accessible for some Florida families, as puppies at Petland often have high price points.
- Welcome Home Kit and Supplies: The provision of initial supplies is a convenience, although customer reviews suggest these "kits" are often significantly marked up compared to external retailers.
- Cleanliness of Display Areas (Disputed): While some Petland locations aim for clean display areas, a customer review specifically describes the store as "freezing cold" and puppies "shaking all the time," with claims of unsanitary conditions like "diarrhea with blood and parasites, urine and feces in the cages." This is a serious area of concern for Floridians focused on animal welfare.
- High Pricing and Additional Costs: A recurring highlight (often negative) from customer reviews is the significantly higher price of puppies compared to other sources, alongside mandatory "add-on" packages for supplies, microchipping, and warranty activation, which dramatically increase the overall cost. Customers report feeling "robbed" and that the business is "a complete rip off" due to these practices.
- Customer Service Post-Sale Challenges: Several reviews express severe frustration with the "Solutions" department or corporate communication regarding sick puppies and warranty claims, with customers feeling "completely brushed off" and experiencing "no response." This highlights a significant challenge for Floridians seeking support after their purchase.
- Controversy over Puppy Sourcing: Broader concerns about Petland's sourcing from "puppy mills" are frequently mentioned in public reviews, which is a serious ethical consideration for many Floridian pet buyers.
These features underscore that while Petland Largo offers convenience and extensive guarantees, potential Floridian customers should conduct thorough research and exercise caution regarding pricing, additional costs, and the practical application of health warranties, as well as considering broader ethical concerns related to puppy sourcing.
For Floridians interested in contacting Petland Largo, here is their direct information:
- Address: 10289 Ulmerton Rd, Largo, FL 33771, USA
- Phone: (727) 288-0777
- Mobile Phone: +1 727-288-0777
If considering a puppy purchase, it is strongly advised to call ahead to inquire about specific puppy availability, understand their full pricing structure (including all mandatory add-ons), and thoroughly discuss the terms and conditions of all health guarantees and return policies, paying close attention to the details and requirements. Given the varied customer experiences, careful and comprehensive inquiry before visiting is recommended.
For Floridians considering Petland Largo as a source for a new puppy, its suitability largely hinges on specific preferences and a willingness to navigate its unique operational model. On the surface, the store offers the convenience of seeing a variety of puppies in one location, a clear advantage for those who prefer an in-person selection process over searching for individual breeders. The initial staff interactions can be positive, and the availability of financing can make high-priced puppies seem more accessible to some local families.
However, Floridians considering Petland Largo must also weigh significant concerns raised by previous customers. While Petland advertises extensive health guarantees, reviews strongly suggest that the practical application of these warranties can be challenging, often requiring strict adherence to purchasing specific, often expensive, additional products from the store. The reported difficulties in getting resolution for sick puppies, coupled with claims of being "brushed off" by their "Solutions" department, indicate potential frustrations for local customers seeking post-sale support.
Perhaps the most critical factor for Floridians is the pricing structure. Numerous reviews emphatically warn that puppies at Petland Largo are significantly more expensive than those found at other reputable sources. The added costs for "welcome home kits," microchipping, and "warranty-activating" supplements contribute to a final price that customers often describe as a "rip off." For value-conscious Floridians, thorough research into alternative local puppy sources like reputable breeders or rescue organizations is highly advised to avoid paying "double or more for the exact same puppy."
Furthermore, concerns regarding the conditions of the puppies and allegations of sourcing from "puppy mills" are serious ethical considerations that many Floridians prioritize. Descriptions of cold environments and sick puppies, if accurate, should prompt deep reflection about the welfare of the animals and align with one's personal values regarding responsible pet acquisition.
In summary, while Petland Largo offers the immediate gratification of selecting a puppy from a wide array of breeds, Floridians should proceed with extreme caution. The decision to purchase from this establishment should be made only after extensive personal research, a clear understanding of all financial commitments and health guarantee stipulations, and a careful consideration of the contrasting customer experiences regarding animal welfare and post-sale support. For many locals, exploring other avenues for puppy adoption may prove to be a more cost-effective and ethically aligned choice.

Petland Largo Reviews
I purchased my adorable morkie (Bruno) 14 days ago. Of course I have become so attached to him! I took him into THEIR vet within the 3 day time window given on my paperwork. He had the sniffles and was refusing to eat so the veterinarian prescribed antibiotics for him. Approximately 5 days later I returned to THEIR veterinarian because he still wasn’t eating and didn’t seem like he was getting any better. I expressed my concerns that I am upset that he is sick and not eating and felt completely brushed off by the Veterinary. They again sent me home with antibiotics and a bottle of rebound. Also a can of “special dog food” Although I have tried feeding him literally everything. The amount of puppy food is so minimal. As of yesterday he is sounding even worse after all these Antibiotics.I was praying my little Bruno would get better. I’m pretty sure he either has Kennel Cough or upper respiratory issues. I finally gave in and called Petland as tomorrow is my last day under the Florida State Law and well as their 14 day puppy guarantee. I explained to them that I wanted to return my little Bruno as he is not getting better. They told me “We don’t do returns “ I am completely heartbroken about my Bruno. I offered to return him to the store and they told me NO! I will update my review as soon as I receive more information. UPDATE!!! Bruno is on his 3rd round of Antibiotics and is still very sick. I have emailed and called their “Solutions “ department with absolutely no response! If Petland cared about their animals someone would of reached out to me by now. This is unacceptable!
May 22, 2025 · christie lambrechtDO NOT AND I REPEAT DO NOT BUY A PUPPY FROM HERE! you are being robbed! You can Google 10 other places that sell the exact same puppy for more than half the price. They claim the puppies have a10yr warranty and they send you home with all this stuff. Well pay close attention they do not! You pay for it ALL! A welcome home kit for$200 is $60 on Amazon that's a $140 profit! Microchip is $25-$35 they charge you $199 that's a $175 profit. They claim a 10yr warranty that's ONLY if you feed your puppy all the vitamins and extras they try to get you to buy for another $150. This place is a complete rip off! You will pay double when more for the exact same puppy other places sell. Google and do your research which i did not. Blue Sky, All about puppies, st puppies sell for reasonable prices and don't try to sell you the stars and rip you off. Pet land is a factory of puppies. It's freezing cold in there the puppies are shaking all the time and the only thing they care about is making money. Please research before you buy or look! It will benefit you in everyday possible. If you want to spend $5000-$7000 then that's what you will get here but if you genuinely want a healthy puppy at a reasonable price this is not the place! I bought this lahsa apso for over $5000 they normally cost anywhere from$1000 to $1300 In sick to my stomach that they got me its all a big gimmick and lies! rREAD ALL THE REVIEWS I WAS IGNORANT AND DID NOT! the truth is in the reviews yet pet land constantly says im sorry for your bad experience. #BUYERBEWARE #DONOTFALLFORTHEIRLIESANDBS
Apr 14, 2025 · KjhI love this pet store! The staff is always incredibly helpful and knowledgeable — no matter what questions I have, they take the time to answer and offer great advice. They often introduce me to new products that end up being perfect for my pets. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and they really make you feel like part of the family. It’s clear they truly care about animals and their customers. Highly recommend!
May 13, 2025 · Anneleen Burgos R (Anne B)I was interested in a mini schnauzer I saw online. I live an hour away and wanted to know of the price was worth the drive over. Your store refused to tell me due to "policy." Guess you dont want those puppies sold.
Jun 22, 2025 · B WPlease don’t support this place. First off I came to pet land to purchase 2 fancy rats to keep as pets this place is a little far from me so I called a few times in advance to confirm they had at least 2 female rats available long story short my female rats have balls! When I was asking the manager and employees questions about the rats I was given conflicted answers they clearly didn’t know what they were talking about and just said anything so I would leave with the animals. I called the pet store to let them know they got the sex of my rats wrong and they were incredibly rude to me all the manager said was “so what do you want us to do” I understand there’s not much they could do to correct their mistake but I didn’t get even an apology. When I walked in the pet store i immediately noticed the sketchy amount of puppies in glass enclosures. According to the reviews on yelp this place gets their puppies from puppy mills and several people have had their puppies get incredibly sick and die almost immediately after bringing them home! I also noticed this beautiful bird being kept in a inhumane glass cage with absolutely no enrichment. These are ANIMALS they’re alive!! They shouldn’t be treated like this :( birds are social creatures they need entertainment and interaction to keep from getting depressed. Everyone who works here should feel ashamed of themselves I wish more people had a heart big enough to give every animal the care they deserve. And now I will have to spend $600 to get two male rats neutered! Male rats are more territorial they pee everywhere and they’re harder to train I planned on getting females for a reason. The employees here know they’re running a scam and continue it everyday.
