- Health Guarantees and Coverage: The "one year guarantee program" and "14-day sickness coverage" provide a layer of security for new puppy owners, addressing common anxieties about a puppy's initial health. The requirement of a vet visit within 5 days is also part of this health protocol.
- Knowledgeable and Patient Staff: Positive reviews highlight staff members like Annette, Alex, and Andrew who are described as "very helpful and nice," "super helpful and friendly," "very patient," and capable of answering "all my questions." For Floridians considering adding a puppy to their family, Sunshine Puppies in Largo offers a distinct pathway to pet ownership that may appeal to those seeking a specific breed and immediate availability. Its suitability for local residents stems from several factors, balanced with important considerations for prospective buyers.
The primary appeal for locals is the convenience of finding a wide variety of puppies in one location. For families in Largo and the surrounding areas of Pinellas County, being able to visit a physical store to interact with different breeds and choose a puppy in person is a significant advantage over online searches or traveling to various breeders. The readily available staff, praised for their helpfulness and patience, provides a tangible resource for questions and guidance during the selection process. This personalized interaction can be invaluable for first-time puppy owners in Florida.
Furthermore, the advertised "one year guarantee program and a 14-day sickness coverage" offers a layer of reassurance for new owners. While individual experiences with these guarantees can vary, the provision of such programs is designed to mitigate some of the initial anxieties associated with a new puppy's health. The requirement for a vet visit within five days encourages new owners to establish veterinary care early, a crucial step for responsible pet ownership in Florida.
However, it is important for Floridians to approach any puppy purchase with careful consideration and thorough research, especially when dealing with live animal sales. While one customer had a very positive experience with a healthy puppy and excellent staff support, another detailed a challenging experience with a sick puppy and unresolved reimbursement issues. These contrasting reviews highlight the importance of individual due diligence, including thoroughly understanding all terms of health guarantees and proactively seeking independent veterinary verification.
Ultimately, Sunshine Puppies provides a readily accessible option for Floridians seeking to purchase a puppy with the benefit of in-person selection and initial health coverages. For local residents who value convenience and immediate access to a variety of breeds, a visit to Sunshine Puppies could be a starting point in their journey to find a new canine family member, provided they conduct their own comprehensive research and maintain open communication regarding any health concerns.

Nov 16, 2024 · Jose NegronI purchased my puppy mid February. I took him home and he was pooping blood. Called within 16 hours of purchase. Brought him to the vet and he had hookworm and Giardia. Got him the medicine needed. I sent over the invoice and test results and then never got reimbursed. What's worse, I let my young child play with the puppy cause I assumed the health guarantee was legit, and the Giardia spread to her as well. Missed work, had to throw out tons of animal bedding, and had to fight with insurance just to get the medicine for my daughter.I've called dozens of times, resent the info to multiple numbers and emails as requested and nearly 2 months later STILL no reimbursement. I paid in full for my puppy so no amount due to cause reason for holding my money. I love my puppy just expected better from the company. Be cautiousUpdate: 7/2/25 Still no refund. I think they have blocked my number cause I never get anything except voicemail. I would think twice before going to any of their locations
Jul 02, 2025 · BrittanyAnother update : cause I just read the long reply … how is it that so many of us have bad reviews and all spread out in time? the reply also says if you visit them you will see the reviews are a lie … you guys … now i encourage you to visit them so you can see the lack of energy from these puppies. It’s like they are in jail!!! It is terrible. I hope they shut this place down.I am not an activist. I’m just a normal person that walked in to see the dogs and they were just so sad and lacked energy. Anyone looking for dogs can see all these bad reviews from different people and notice the owner replies the same thing to the negative comments. If you’re reading this save your time and do not come in.. simply. It’s not a happy place. This is my original review :The puppies are so sad… compared to the other stores around everyone is inside and playing with the dogs but this place the dogs are just laying there slouching not jumpy no energy so sad. The guy in there was not personable. After I mentioned to my husband how different this place was compared to the others the guy in there passive aggressively kicked us out and showed a scissor while smiling. Super creepy. Going to other places, everyone had something not good to say about this place and it shows .. I mean you walk in and walk right back out. I feel so sad for those doggies :(
Jun 30, 2025 · Jessica LizbethI stumbled across this place on my way to a cat shelter lol, not even planning to get a dog, let alone from a puppy store, but it was the best decision I made. Shy has grown into the most beautiful, happy and sweetest boy imaginable, zero health problems so far, he’s a dream. At almost 11 months old he is double the size/weight I was told lol but that’s not an issue.
Aug 28, 2024 · C WThey have puppies by the road on Ulmerton battling the hot FL heat. Person in there is not even interacting with the puppies, they are just standing there on their phone. This is cruel way to advertise puppies for sale. If this is how they look outside imagine how they are treated inside. Do not support these puppy mill businesses!***Edit - I am not an animal rights activist just someone who drives down Ulmerton Rd everyday. Next time I will take pictures or go see for yourself I’m sure tons of people have. It’s absolutely sad and horrifying.
