Being situated on a main road like New York Avenue means high visibility and straightforward navigation for those traveling by car. This is a significant advantage for pet owners, as it helps minimize travel time and stress, especially when bringing in an anxious or unwell pet. These thorough physical assessments, which include checking for ear infections, heart murmurs, growths, and more, are crucial for early detection of illnesses, especially since pets age more quickly than humans.

- In-House Laboratory: Most lab results are ready within 20 to 30 minutes, allowing for quicker diagnoses and treatment decisions, ensuring your pet receives timely care.
- Dentistry: Recognizing that many pets develop periodontal disease early, Harborside emphasizes routine dental care, including professional cleanings, for overall pet health.
- Digital Radiology (X-rays): State-of-the-art digital radiography provides quicker, more efficient, and detailed imaging compared to traditional X-ray systems, aiding in accurate diagnoses.

- Positive Community Impact: Clients feel "so lucky to have such a great Vet organization so close and operated by such great humans," underscoring their positive reputation and integration within the local community.
Please Note: While many positive attributes are highlighted, one review indicated a negative experience with a specific breed (Shiba Inu), citing a lack of breed-specific understanding, rough handling, and missed underlying health issues, leading to a recommendation against this clinic for Shiba Inu owners. This particular feedback suggests that while the hospital provides excellent general care and handles anxious pets well, owners of breeds with unique temperaments or known sensitivities may wish to discuss breed-specific concerns with the veterinary team beforehand to ensure a tailored approach.

Harborside Veterinary Hospital Reviews
My wife and I have a rescue dog, Winston, who suffers from severe anxiety during normal day to day events like walks, groomers, vet appointments, and strangers. Ensuring he has proper health care is important and all the people at Harborside are truly fantastic, from the receptionists to the tech supports to the vets themselves. We have been bringing Winston in to Harborside for nearly 3 years since we adopted him and every visit they treat him with the utmost care and concern. They routinely go above and beyond for not only his comfort, but for ours as parents as well. Most recently this week we required some specialized health certificates for international travel & once again Harborside proved to be a great resource. Not only following up multiple times to get us the right answers, but also making systematic changes to ensure our paperwork met requirements for travel and safety. We are so lucky to have such a great Vet organization so close and operated by such great humans. Thank you!
Jan 14, 2025 · Bob HigginsShiba Inus are known for being sensitive and independent, and Jethro is no exception. Sadly, Harborside Vet clearly doesn't understand the unique needs of this breed. From the moment we walked in, it was chaos. The waiting room was packed, and the noise and commotion clearly stressed Jethro out. He was shaking and trying to hide under the chairs. When we finally saw the vet (Tyler Barrett), he didn't seem to have any experience with Shibas. They tried to handle Jethro roughly, which only made him more anxious and fearful. They didn't take the time to earn his trust or make him feel comfortable. To make matters worse, they completely missed his underlying health issue. They dismissed his symptoms as "typical Shiba behavior" and sent us home with nothing but a generic anxiety medication.Thankfully, we found a vet who specializes in Shibas and was able to properly diagnose and treat him.Harborside Vet's lack of breed-specific knowledge and their complete disregard for Jethro's well-being is unacceptable. I would never recommend this clinic to any Shiba Inu owner.
