Apr 19, 2025 · Bill HoppeTerrible. Dr. Denise Zeichner did awful things to my cat, Dory and myself, the owner. I'll start with the most egregious. Dr. Zeichner deliberately did not humanely euthanize my dying, seizure-stricken cat but rather had my poor cat endure a shameful steroid shot and exhausting slow death at Huntington Village Animal Hospital. An evil thing to do to an animal on the part of Denise Zeichner. She cruelly forced my limp, stretched-out cat into a propped up position to endure this for 1.5 hours. Unacceptable and brutal. And did she feel badly about it? Not at all. How do I know? Because after my cat died, I told Dr. Zeichner that I regretted not being able to bring Dory in two days earlier (since Dr. Z irresponsibly took the day off). Dr. Zeichner then shook her head, smiled brightly and exclaimed "She would have never survived the steroid shot!!" So Dr. Zeichner knew what she did was wrong and let me know. Truly sadistic. The steroid was listed on both the report and invoice. Later in the conversation, she said "Oh well, maybe you'll adopt another kitty from a shelter!" This was 15 min. after my cat died. Rude and a complete disregard for my precious pet and myself. Let me be clear: after hydration therapy didn't work for Dory that fateful morning, Dr. Z had a duty to explain the situation and euthanize my cat. But Dr. Z didn't want to do this for Dory. Dr. Zeichner betrayed the trust I placed in her as a licensed veterinarian. Dr. Zeichner's deliberate cruelty began when she chose not to help Dory when she desperately needed her treatment two days before her death. Dr. Zeichner suspiciously took the day off and wouldn't come in just to give my cat her expired hydration therapy and anti-vomit shot. So my poor cat couldn't eat because she couldn't retain food. And Dr. Zeichner knew this full well. Predictably, my cat suffered and declined rapidly while Dr. Z was enjoying her day off. Cruel and selfish. Worse, Dr. Zeichner still wouldn't come in that day and the next day despite my distressed phone calls and emails to her. Very Cruel. So, Dr. Zeichner didn't come into the office for two days but rather misled me in the last 48 hrs and got me to hold out taking my cat to the ER. After she got me to wait and schedule Dory for an appt the following day, she happily emailed me that night "Great!" and "We'll work out a food plan for her!" Wait...Dr. Zeichner knew that Dory was an elder critically ill cat who now had not been treated for two whole days by her, Dr. Zeichner. She deliberately delayed treating my cat, downplayed a growing emergency and then lied and insanely assured me by email that my elder sick cat "will be fine" after two days of no food (and vomiting)! Guilty. Further, I later researched that cats can suffer awful extracranial seizures due to vomiting and dehydration. These were the exact symptoms Dory had which Dr, Zeichner refused to treat in the last two days. This is all unacceptable and the lowest quality veterinary care. Dr. Zeichner had even said my cat was "critical" three weeks earlier and yet Dr. Z wouldn't even IV feed my emaciated cat then or ever. Instead, Dr. Zeichner gave minimal treatment for my "critical" ill cat (hydration and anti-vomit shots) while running expensive tests which brought the total bill to over $3,000. in just 3 weeks. Dr. Zeichner showed no compassion towards my beloved cat. Dr. Zeichner also had a sign in her lobby (when I was a client) which offered a 15% discount off of a customer's visit provided the customer gave her hospital a 5 Star review online. This is an unethical business practice; there should never be a $$ incentive given for a favorable review. It also violated Google's Review Policy.
