These routine visits are crucial for early disease detection and maintaining your pet's overall health.

Smithfield Road Veterinary Hospital Reviews
My 10 Year old boxer Memphis had dental surgery here 2 weeks and another surgery this past Tuesday for a spider bite. They took such good care of my boy and were the sweetest and keep me updated during the process. Love this place, the vets and the staff! Memphis is our sweet baby and they treated him so well!
Jun 26, 2025 · Flora HightI Took my Yorkie in today for a routine check up and I cannot say enough about how my Pet and I were treated. The lady at the front desk, I’m sorry I don’t know her name, was exceptional, friendly and informative. The vet tech that updated our chart and took all the information was wonderful. Very caring and Had patience with my dog. The veterinarian,Dr palkowetz was great. That was the first time meeting her and I could not have asked for a more caring, and compassionate Doctor. I used to be Bring all my Animals to Smithfield Road animal Hospital until they sold it. I then took my animals to Banfield and I was not happy with the corporate nature of the business. I feel that Banfield is all about the money and less about the care. I decided recently to switch back to Smithfield and I could not be more happy. The kindness and caring staff means so much to a pet owner. Thank you, Smithfield Rd., Animal Hospital for being there to care for my animals.
Jun 09, 2025 · cindyI was ready to switch vets a couple months back but when I called a couple weeks ago I talked to the new office mgr she said almost all the vets are new. The other ones there while they were good just acted like they were there for the money and not your pets. They never petted our dog talked to her nothing . But I took a chance and went there a week or so ago and they were all new that I saw and were so friendly and so nice .
Jan 23, 2025 · Mary WaltersWe used this hospital since we moved to NC as my son took his three puppies there and believed it was a good hospital. Dr. Freels operated on Itsy Bitsy (3 lbs) and removed a bladder stone. After our move here we brought our Maltese, Sherlock, to Dr Freels who took care of two UTI's. On our last couple of visits Dr. Freels was gone and on two separate visits saw two different Vets. One was pregnant and a few weeks later saw another new Vet. She asked if we wanted a Senior Exam and we said yes. She came and got me and asked me to look at an ex ray. She said it should a cancerous tumor in his prostrate because on examination his rectum felt rough. I asked if she was sure and she said "yes". I asked if there was any "HOPE" and she said "no". She sent his records to NC Veterinary hospital in Raleigh. Great hospital but expensive. Before they examined Sherlock they explained the cost of chemo and radiation. My husband, a Vietnam, Vet put his head in hands as Sherlock is his comfort dog. We left Sherlock there for a scan and when we returned they told us "good news" it is a bladder stone and could be removed. Sherlock had it removed at another hospital and he is doing well. I wrote this because I hope that anyone who gets a bad diagnosis here goes for a second opinion. I wouldn't give them any stars but I had to give one to Post.
Apr 30, 2025 · Maureen MasoneFebruary 2nd 2025 2:33pmI just had an extremely disappointing experience with the receptionist at Smithfield Veterinarian. I called to make a simple check-up appointment for my dog, but the staff member I spoke to was shockingly rude and unprofessional. After clearing my throat, she aggressively snapped at me, asking if I had an issue. I calmly explained that I recently lost a dog and that my voice was affected, but instead of listening, she continued to be dismissive and confrontational. When I asked if she had a problem with me, she stuttered and then doubled down on her hostility, making nonsensical statements rather than assisting me.Despite my patience in explaining my situation, she told me I needed to “change the way I sound” and then abruptly hung up on me. This level of insensitivity—especially toward someone grieving the loss of a pet—is absolutely unacceptable.I was simply trying to schedule an appointment for my other dog, and instead, I was met with unnecessary aggression and complete disregard for basic customer service. If this is how they treat pet owners during vulnerable times, I can’t imagine how they handle animals with care.I will be taking my business elsewhere and strongly advise others to do the same. No one deserves to be spoken to that way, especially when dealing with something as emotional as pet care.
