Powers Veterinary Hospital Reviews
My dog, Grits, is deaf, vision impaired, and has anxiety. The Vet is extremely stressful for him. Our previous Vet retired. When I called to ask questions Tina stayed on the phone with me for 15 minutes. She answered all my questions, and was so kind and informative. For Grits' first appointment we saw Dr. Powers and Michelle. They got a history on Grits, and we scheduled a dental and mass removal today. During the dental Dr. Powers discovered something on his tongue that needed to be biopsied. When he woke up from anesthesia he unexpectedly bit his tongue and hit an artery, but Michelle and Dr. Powers quickly repaired it. Everyone at the office could not be more kind and empathetic. My dog is truly a special case. Not many people want to take the time or make the accommodations he needs to feel comfortable, and they did it with absolutely no issues. They also handled an emergency situation so calmly and professionally. I feel like they truly care about Grits, and they want what's best for him. We're just not another number or a way they make their income. I'm so glad we found them, and could not recommend them highly enough.
Oct 03, 2024 · Megan MastersI use Pet Assure insurance and this veterinarian is one of only 2 in my area that accepts it so we started going here immediately after getting our new puppy.(My wife had previously gone here w her cats with no issue).December of 2022 the staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We had appointments for shots/check ups on and off for the first 6 months. Up to this point, I’d never encountered the name sake of the building. At his 1 year check up I went to acquire about what his adult weight should be, and to have him neutered, as well as other shots he needed. I dropped him off and nervously waited for my dog.I got a call 2 hours later from the owner. Saying my dog is extremely underweight, and then started listing qualities my dog has that he should not. After seeing him once.He weighed 14.5 pounds that day. She says she refuses to do surgery bc he should be atleast 16 pounds. Then she and her employees begin to imply neglect.I was highly offended, ( but did not show it at all, bc I felt my dog was underweight, that’s why I asked about in the first place) BUT, was confident once I left, she would see I am someone who has paid my dog insurance all year, have never missed an appointment and always arrives early. My dog is brushed twice a week, walked twice a day, and spoiled with love.So when I returned (25 min drive btw) for a wellness check. To now finally be able to get service for my dog. I get there and my dog has gained 2 pounds. He now weighs the weight she said he should as an adult. She says bring him back in 2 weeks after he gains 2 more pounds and we will see.All the while moving and speaking as if my dog is abused.I’m a 40 black man with a designer Pomsky. I do well to provide for myself and family, and that is NOT how I was made to feel each time I entered Powers Veterinary after meeting the business owner. The vet had issue with my dogs diet, so I took him to have blood work done. Perfectly healthy.I will not be returning and do not recommend. When I called to let them know I would be seeing a new vet due to the odd/bad vibes I receive, I was told “good luck”.So I wish anyone that goes here the same. Good luck
Jan 03, 2024 · Vonzell LuckeyToday I say this with a heavy heart --- I met Dr. Powers when I had to put my 16 year old baby down. I wanted to make sure I was making the right choice, she sat with me, explained everything. The love and genuine compassion is unmatched. ALL the staff --- . Tina was so kind too from the minute she answered the phone, and through my tears she worked it all out. I have a Lab who is allergic to himself and I will be moving him over to Dr. Powers as well. Thank you guys for making a horrible thing manageable.
Jan 18, 2025 · Danielle FarmerPOOR VETERINARY COMMUNICATION!(Mostly I was only able to relay messages back and forth to front desk representatives, rarely did I get to speak to the vet). This built up to me being OUTRIGHT denied medical treatment for my pets at this facility over un-warranted claims! Be aware!(See attached pictures) I don't like to say too much that's negative about anyone so I will only try to give a brief summary about my experience.Pictures I've attached are of doctor Powers response to me via email, without calling me back herself or speaking to me directly on this day whatsoever and my follow up response back to her via email is attached as well...POOR COMMUNICATION FROM VET!Recently this week, making scheduled appointments with specific services I wanted done, I specifically requested for a cost analysis up front each time I had made an appointment.I recieved multiple estimates back from doctor powers that were missing the total cost analysis that I previously discussed with a front desk representative when making the appointment prior (hence how I had known the total of the amount that was missing). When I followed up to try to relate any messages to doctor powers, there was a struggle to be able to reach her directly, the only form of communication I recieved was messages being relayed to me through a front desk representative.Eventually I demanded to speak to Doctor Powers directly and finally I was able to recieve a call back from her near the end of her office hours on 2/26 (the day prior to her email response).I spent over around $700 in the past two days on services for my pets, one pet on 2/26/25 and one pet on 2/27/25.Each day I had to call back to follow up to make sure that a specific service be added to my pets appointment because recently each time it was discussed, requested and mentioned with a front desk representative, they had failed to make any note of the requested service(other than the services they did manage to write down that went through successfully).Granted, there were multiple services requested for my pets but each time one of the service I had requested was left out... regardless of the others that were corresponded correctly.I tried to relay this notion to doctor powers and I was given the answer from a representative that "she's busy on the phone and will call me back afterwards".I asked the representative if they knew the name of the specific representative who took the notes for the appointment(that had a missing service I previously requested). The representative replied "yes, I know who took those notes but there is no note added about the service you are talking about" I said "Great, who was it that took the notes so I can relay this information to doctor powers, that's exactly what the issue is, that there should of been notes added about that specific service, since it was requested" and they actually scoffed before they replied and said "I have no reason to give you that information" which I then replied "The reason is so I can relay this information directly to doctor powers" and the representative replied"I'm not comfortable giving you that information" then they proceeded to ask "why do I need that information" (after I already addressed why).Admittedly I did hang up on them mid sentence before they could repeat themselves again to me.I then drove directly to the facility myself to try to speak to doctor powers directly in person since there was a buffer between us with the front desk representative.Upon arriving, the representative at the front desk told me "doctor powers left the office early and she sent me an email".This was the response I recieved back from the veterinarian Docotor Powers herself directly via email.(see attached pictures).NEVER ONCE DID I EVER USE ANY FOUL LANGUAGE OR PROFANITY!!(I'm very polite, I've worked in hospitality)My tone may have been stern on the phone but beyond that these claims against me are asinine. I had no reason to use foul language in this situation and I would never use foul language un-warranted.
Feb 28, 2025 · Lou SpagzBeing a first time pet owner, I had a million and one questions once I rescued a 4month old black lab. I took her to Powers Vet from the beginning and not only did they answer all of my questions with amazing service, they also made everything easy on my puppers as well. Fast forward 4-5 months, they continue to love and care for Korra and give her the best care every single time!
