Worst place to take an animal! They cancelled our boarding with less then 24 hours notice! Costing us thousands of dollars. Every concern we had with our dog they told us was because he is overweight! Constantly told us to limit his food. We cut him back to 1 cup of food 3 times a day. Then they told us "oh he's fat because of a medical problem but we have to bring him in to see if the medication is ok. So we scheduled the appointment and showed up for them to tell us "oh you never got our email? We don't have a vet today and have to reschedule". It is a constant run around and just a money grab! There excuse for cancelling our kenneling is because he has never been brought in to play with other animals. Which they never told us we had to do! He has even been boarded with them in the past but they don't remember how he did! I'm assuming if there was issues they would have noted this and it would have been brought to our attention months ago when we scheduled the boarding. When our other dog got sick we brought him in for testing and there was nothing they could find until it was too late and we had to bring him to an emergency vet. Don't waste your time with this place! After reading their reply I would like to add that we have had contact at least 4 times in the past month regarding the boarding...making sure he was up to date on everything. Getting checked and even last week dropping off a stool sample because it is required to kennel. That is 4 times in the last month they pulled our paperwork and told us we were all set again waiting until less then 24 hours to tell us they couldn't accept him. They claim they don't feel safe. Note WAS his vet for years! And has been boarded in the past with no issues! They decided last minute to add a bunch of fees (the vet felt our dog needs one on one playtime that we have to pay for and other unexpected expenses) again not cancelling as of Yesterday. We decide to cancel an upcoming re-check appointment he had scheduled to cover these new expenses. We weren't cancelled for boarding until after we cancelled the appointment ( they claim it has nothing to do with that). If it has nothing to do with that then how incompetent do you have to be to pull paperwork 4 different times, tell us we are all set an only catch it after we cancel. They claim we didn't have a backup. It is noted we did list an emergency contact but he 90 minutes away. That was unacceptable to them. She claims I threatened them, I did not. I notified them I would have to take them to court for all nonrefundable travel expenses. She claims to have the dogs best interest in mind. Explain to me how being at a vet that is familiar THAT HAS PREVIOUSLY KENNELED HIM WITH NO ISSUES is too stressful to him, but putting him in Doggy Daycare (keeping in mind he has only ever socialized with our other dog never in a group and to a place he's never been before) is more beneficial to him?! I feel that puts my dog and other dogs at risk because we have no idea how he will react. As for being aggressive and rude...yes she knew I was frustrated and evertime I started to say something she would speak over me! That is when I got rude back! After reading multiple reviews I see this is a tactic they repeatedly use. They are rude to you then when you are rude back they tell you they can no longer accept your animal. Wasted tactic in this case. When I told you I would need to go to court to recover unrefundable travel expenses I knew my dog would never be going back. You admitted you cancelled with less then 24 hours due to a "mistake" on intake paperwork. But never caught it in the 4 times we checked in to make sure everything was ok. When you told me it was the vets decision to not board i did make comments about him being a bad vet...see above where you tell me repeatedly my dog is "just fat" and not listening to any of our concerns. Same vet who cancelled our appointment with an email INSTEAD OF A PHONE CALL and then acted surprised we never got the message

Jun 12, 2025 · KathyMy son’s dog was previously diagnosed with congestive heart failure by this vet several months ago. As a result, they prescribed 3 different medications as a precaution treatment. Recently, my son ran out of pills for couple of days of 1 of the 3 meds. He called the hospital to get a refill and they only would give him 5 pills. After the dog took those pills she was doing well. I had her the day, my son took the dog back for bloodwork in order to get the remaining meds. The dog walked in with a leash and when they brought the dog back to his car, she was lethargic and couldn’t walk. Obviously something happened within the hospital. Then he requested the vet to come out and was told either bring her home or to the ER. As a result they had to put the dog down due to her new condition. If they didn’t insist on bloodwork , I believe the dog would have been able to go home. I believe the dogs heart was stressed at this visit and she collapsed. My son didn’t want the bloodwork it was forced. The dog had a cough prior to this visit and was always happy to see me with a playful manner, even on the day they put her down . You be the judge, coincidental?. I’m so saddened by these sequence of events.

The vet spoke dismissively, did not answer questions, seemed to love recommending pricey tests, and rushed through appointments. Overall vibe is cold, unwelcoming and dismissive.

They were able to get him vaccinated and had him back in moments!!! The prices are reasonable and the staff is very professional, I highly recommend Dewitt Animal Hospital 🏥!
