When choosing a veterinary provider, it is crucial to consider all available information, including the experiences of other pet owners. Banfield Pet Hospital in Rockville presents a convenient option for many people, especially those who are new to pet ownership or those who prefer the structured budgeting that their wellness plans provide. For instance, the clinic’s model might be a good fit for a new pet owner who needs a clear, step-by-step guide on what to expect. The availability of in-house diagnostics and common surgical procedures also adds to the convenience of the practice.
However, it is essential to be aware that not all experiences are positive, and the quality of care and client interaction can vary. The reviews provided highlight significant concerns regarding customer service and medical quality. One reviewer noted a lack of professional demeanor from staff, particularly at the front desk, and a lack of helpful information for a first-time pet owner. A more concerning review detailed a distressing experience with a broken leg bandage that was applied improperly multiple times, leading to financial frustration and a lack of accountability from the hospital. The reviewer's sense of "frustration and expense" highlights a serious gap between the expected quality of care and the actual service provided.
This information suggests that while Banfield Pet Hospital can be a convenient choice for basic, routine care like vaccinations and general check-ups, pet owners should be prepared for a corporate environment where individual experiences can be inconsistent. The decision to bring your pet here should be made with a clear understanding of both the potential benefits, such as accessibility and structured wellness plans, and the potential drawbacks related to customer service and the handling of more serious or complex medical issues.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Most Banfields are not good so I was not surprised by my experience. I am a first time pet owner and I have an 8 week old puppy. They offered little information and just handed me a packet on the first visit. Second visit was a little better only because the doctor seemed to be in a better mood and there were different technicians this time. Most of the staff lacks a pleasant demeanor and professionalism especially the lady Carla at the front desk. She did not greet me or the other customers and when I asked her a question, she was rude and disrespectful in her response. She should not be working front desk or in any customer facing role. I am rethinking if I should continue to bring my puppy here.
July 23 · Diamond GrayMy dog has a broken leg and Banfield has been changing his bandage weekly. Each time it costs around $350. The problem is the bandage is often applied too loosely and comes off within hours. When I raised the concern, they did not accept responsibility for the improper bandage work and instead charged me another $350 for a repeat bandage change and anesthesia. This has been extremely frustrating and expensive, and I feel the quality of care has not matched the cost.
August 17 · Masoud RostamiThe staff at this Banfield location are very sweet and caring. Dr. Pollard has always taken great care of my dog and I know I can trust him and his staff to help with any concerns I may be having.
July 09 · Keaton SunchildI felt compelled to write this review specifically to give a shout out to Dr. Vito DelVento. I’ve previously had a bad experience with our dogs dental cleaning and Dr. DelVento made me feel like my dogs were actually children (because they are! 🤪) and listened to all of my concerns. He didn’t brush me off and even followed up with us to make sure that I had a better experience this time. Which I did!He truly cares about his patients as if they were his dogs. And I couldn’t ask for more.P.S. Sarah the vet tech is also awesome. You can tell that she cares about her job and the pets she comes across.
February 19 · Sumanee GosakwattanaThe girl at the front desk name Carla is so sweet and helpful every time I come.Convenient location not too bad.
