Gaithersburg Animal Hospital Reviews
I have been going to Gaithersburg Animal Hospital for many years and have always found the staff very personable and caring. In particular I have seen Dr. Debbie and for the last few years Dr. Lynne. Her knowledge and suggestions are always much appreciated!I find that it is normal to be put on hold when you call at a busy time, and only once have I had to hang up and try again.Their office hours are also much appreciated since they stay open until 7pm, after working hours for many people. This last year has been very difficult for them since Dr. Dan retired, as many things have been going on, and I have found them more stressed and not as friendly at appointments as well, undoubtedly due to staffing issues.I think that will be better soon, as my appointment with Dr Lynne yesterday was lovely, and I am looking forward to see her tomorrow with our older dog.
May 19, 2025 · R SierraDr. Lynne has always been so patient and knowledgeable with her patients and us. She always takes care of my moody dogs, provides advice, education to parents, and treats for the dogs. The hospital is very quick when we are expecting calls back. Overall a good experience
Mar 20, 2025 · ana tibaquiraThis is a wonderful vet! They are kind, patient and they listen to you. It’s very “no frills” but delux in knowledge and care.
Apr 13, 2025 · Bruce SundstromThis place has gone downhill since Dr. Dan retired. I’ve been coming here for 17 years and each experience in the past year has been more and more frustrating than the last.Every time I call, I am guaranteed to be put on a brief hold due to understaffing. There is always confusion. Don’t get me wrong, the front desk has amazing people, hence the two stars, for them and them only. The system here is just clearly not efficient. Not their fault. When I’m finally able to speak to someone, the schedule is usually too booked for me to have my fur baby in within a reasonable timeframe. The cherry on top is when my dog is finally seen, we receive cold bedside manner and responses less useful than a fortune cookie. I might as well try chatGPT. At least it would acknowledge my concerns instead of brushing past them. When I brought Mila in initially for a lack of appetite a few weeks ago, I expected specific instructions tailored to her breed or at least some recommendations of any sort. Nothing. Just testing and results saying “she’s fine.” No further assistance such as maybe telling me to add certain foods or anything like that to her diet. I did not expect to pay so much just to be told “she’s fine” with no additional care or insights or at least some sort of empathy…Fast forward to this week. I bring Mila in to VRA on Tuesday, March 25th at 4 AM due to a paw laceration. This is not a complaint about VRA by any means. They were professional and friendly through and through. Despite having a separate code blue crisis on their hands, they did their best to give us the best care possible. Unfortunately, there was some confusion with discharge instructions due to an emergency code blue situation so we left without clear communication (again, not faulting them, because I’d hope they’d focus on Mila if she was having a code blue too!). They advise I follow up with Mila’s primary vet (Gaithersburg Animal Hospital) within 1-2 days of bandaging her paw. I was under the impression her paw could wait to be stitched on Friday, and that her paw can be checked on prior to that.Last night, I get the most condescending phone call from Dr. Prikti, starting with, “let me get this straight. You want us to check on her bandaged paw?” I said yes. She rudely continues that there is nothing to check if she hasn’t gotten stitches. Oh! Well maybe if I KNEW that, I wouldn’t be wasting anyone’s time. She continues to finally explain that Mila urgently needs stitches and cannot wait until Friday. I explain to her that I cannot afford the VRA’s fees to have it done immediately, as I’ve been a repeat client at gburg animal hospital this month for different issues with Mila. Instead of professionally responding to this, or trying to help in any way with perhaps some suggestions or ideas, she immediately jumps to guilt-tripping me, saying, “just think of Mila! Do it for Mila.” Ma’am. I just told you I will, once I find an option within my range… at this point, I’m so frustrated because I clearly care about Mila. If not, I wouldn’t be bringing her into Gburg animal hospital every other week to make sure everything's ok. The last thing I needed during this ordeal was a vet I’ve only met once (who also was a disorganized mess during Zoey’s final appointment) assuming and accusing me of being a bad owner. The only incompetence here was HER.I consult with the amazing staff at VRA, who ACTUALLY help me. I transfer Mila to Bennett Creek for stitches the same night, and decide this is our new vet clinic, despite being a lot further from our house. From start to finish, this place handled us with the upmost level of compassion, consideration, and respect. Something that’s been missing from Gaithersburg animal hospital for some time. Mila’s first time meeting Dr. Kelly was vastly different from the cold shoulder Dr. Debbie greeted her with. Just glad to be done with this place. Last thing I needed during a stressful animal emergency was the headache of dealing with this clinic.
Mar 26, 2025 · Setareh JanatkhahI have been going to Gaithersburg Animal Hospital for over 10 years. The staff is fantastic. Everyone at the front desk do a great job helping the patients. The doctors care about my pets health and always recommend what they believe is best for my dog. I would definitely recommend them to family and friends.
