While Petland Miami presents itself as a leader in animal care and customer support, it is crucial to present features and highlights directly from actual customer reviews, which paint a mixed picture:
- Availability of Puppy Breeds: The store typically has various puppy breeds available for sale, allowing prospective owners to view different options.
- Initial Customer Service (Pre-Purchase): Some reviews for Petland locations generally indicate that sales staff can be helpful and make the initial purchasing experience enjoyable.
However, significant concerns have been raised by direct customer experiences at this specific Petland Miami location:
- Questionable Animal Welfare Standards: Reviews explicitly state seeing "urine and stool inside their cages," puppies "forced to sit and lay on it," and a lack of "beds, blankets, nothing to keep them warm." Some breeds were observed "visibly shaking."
- Lack of Comfort and Stimulation for Puppies: Customers reported "no toys, no comfort, no supervision," indicating a potential deficiency in environmental enrichment and basic care for the puppies while at the store.
- Concerns about Puppy Health: Multiple reviews directly link observations of poor hygiene and neglect to the potential for diseases. One highly negative review details a puppy falling seriously ill and dying shortly after purchase, with another puppy also showing signs of sickness. Concerns about pre-existing conditions (e.g., hip dysplasia) and common illnesses like kennel cough and giardia were also reported at Petland locations.
- Post-Purchase Support Issues: Customers reported extreme difficulty in getting assistance or refunds for sick animals. One reviewer described a lengthy and unhelpful process, including being transferred multiple times and refused a refund for a deceased puppy, with claims that the store "overcharge on all their dogs."
- Allegations of Puppy Mill Sourcing: While Petland states it uses USDA-licensed breeders, public forums and former employee accounts often raise concerns about the ethical sourcing of puppies, suggesting connections to large-scale breeding operations (puppy mills) and allegations of falsifying medical histories.
- Issues with Puppy Behavior and Training: One review detailed a severe case of a 7-month-old German Shepherd purchased from the store exhibiting significant behavioral issues, including fear, refusal to listen to commands, and being poorly trained, which led to the pet being surrendered. The reviewer attributed these issues to the store's neglect and improper feeding.
- High Prices for Puppies: Customers consistently mention that puppies from Petland are "overpriced," with significant costs ($4000-$6000) that often do not reflect the health or background of the animal, leading to financial strain when combined with vet bills.

In conclusion, while Petland Miami at 8236 Mills Dr presents itself as a convenient option for Floridians looking for puppies and pet supplies, prospective customers should approach with significant caution. Its accessible location in Miami aims to serve a wide range of residents. However, the recurring themes in direct customer reviews raise serious concerns about animal welfare and post-purchase support. Reports of unsanitary conditions, lack of basic comfort for puppies, and instances of severe illness and even death shortly after purchase are deeply troubling. Furthermore, challenges with obtaining refunds or adequate support for sick animals, and allegations of high prices for potentially unhealthy puppies, are major points of concern.
For locals in Florida, it is imperative to conduct thorough research, ask detailed questions about a puppy's background and health, and ideally consult with an independent veterinarian before committing to a purchase from this establishment. While the store offers stated services like health warranties and microchipping, the customer experiences suggest that these protocols may not always provide the expected peace of mind. Those prioritizing the ethical treatment of animals and comprehensive long-term support for a new pet may wish to consider local shelters, reputable breed-specific rescues, or small, transparent breeders as alternative avenues for bringing a healthy and well-adjusted companion into their Florida home.

Petland Miami Reviews
I’m very disappointed with what I saw at Petland Miami. The puppies were clearly not being properly cared for. There was urine and stool inside their cages, and the puppies were forced to sit and lay on it.Some of the breeds they had — breeds that tend to get cold more easily — were visibly shaking because they had no beds, no blankets, nothing to keep them warm. There were no toys, no comfort, no supervision. These are puppies, not products. They deserve care, attention, and dignity. Petland needs to be more humane with how they treat these animals. Before buying a puppy from here, please take this into consideration. Many diseases puppies get come from poor hygiene and neglect — exactly what I saw here. These puppies deserve better. Blankets, beds, clean spaces, warmth, and love — that’s the minimum. Do better.
Jun 21, 2025 · Ana MartinezDO NOT trust this place. They treat the animals horribly and any animal older than 3 months is going to have trauma and fear for the rest of his/her life. I know, I got a 7 month old German Shepherd from there that I had to give to a shelter because he refused to listen to any commands because he's spoiled. They never trained him, never took him on walks, or fed him properly. He had liquid fecal matter for days because they fed him nothing but cheap soft treats. He doesn't know how to walk properly and gets tired and scared VERY easily. I had to sit there with him at the park calling him into the car until someone came and called animal rescue because I told them I'm a absolutely done with him. I've had many dogs and I've never seen one this bad. I'm tired of carrying him everywhere like a baby. He's almost mature. Most dogs are ready to breed at 6 months, he's not. I talked to multiple trainers who all agreed he's special needs. It's their fault he's like this. I even called and tried to explain but the LADY (same lady who admitted to giving him only "treats") at the shelter refused to listen or even offer a refund. It took 20 minutes just for her to transfer me to someone else so they could tell me there's no returns. 6k down the drain.
May 26, 2025 · Dexter MorganToday I went to play with the dogs and I felt so happy knowing the puppies were placed in such caring hands. I was attended by Brianna, she was very kind to me and checked up often to see if I needed anything. The puppies couldn’t have been placed in better hands.
