Puppygram Louisville Introduce
For Kentucky residents considering bringing a new furry family member into their home, it is crucial to be well-informed about potential sources for pets. This article aims to provide a factual overview of Puppygram Louisville, located in Louisville, KY, drawing directly from available public information and customer experiences. Our goal is to help you, as a local user, make the most informed decision possible when it comes to pet acquisition.
The journey to finding a new pet is often filled with excitement and anticipation. However, it's also a process that requires careful consideration and due diligence to ensure the health and well-being of the animal, as well as a positive experience for your family. Understanding the background and operational practices of any pet provider is a critical step in this process. This overview will present publicly available data regarding Puppygram Louisville to empower Kentucky pet owners with the knowledge they need.
---Puppygram Louisville is located at 2056 S Hurstbourne Pkwy, Louisville, KY 40220, USA. This address places the establishment within a commercial area of Louisville, easily accessible from various parts of the city and surrounding Kentucky communities via major roads like Hurstbourne Parkway. As a prominent parkway, it offers good connectivity for those traveling by car.
The location within a retail corridor typically means there is available parking, which is a common convenience for customers visiting businesses in such areas. For Kentucky residents in the eastern parts of Louisville and nearby counties, the S Hurstbourne Parkway address is a familiar route, making the store relatively straightforward to locate. However, as of recent reports in June 2025, the Louisville location of Puppygram has been ordered to halt the sale of dogs and cats due to a city ordinance that went into effect in October 2024. Reports indicate the business lights were dimmed and the front door locked, with a message stating "Currently closed! Sorry for the inconvenience." This means that while the physical address exists, its operational status for pet sales to the public is currently impacted by local regulations.
---Based on historical operations and general business models for establishments of this type, Puppygram Louisville's primary service revolved around the retail sale of puppies. Before the implementation of the Louisville ordinance banning the retail sale of dogs and cats from pet stores, their typical offerings would have included:
- Sale of Puppies: The business aimed to connect customers with various breeds of puppies, as indicated by customer accounts of purchasing puppies like a Havanese. These puppies would generally come with paperwork detailing their health status and vaccination history at the time of sale.
- Provision of Basic Pet Information: Staff would typically provide information regarding the care of the purchased puppies, including initial feeding instructions and basic health advice.
- Accessories and Initial Supplies: While not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews, pet stores often offer a selection of initial supplies such as food, bowls, and basic care items that new pet owners might need immediately after bringing a puppy home.
It is important for Kentucky residents to be aware that, as of recent judicial rulings in June 2025, Puppygram Louisville is prohibited from selling dogs and cats at retail due to a city ordinance. Any current operational offerings would need to comply with this ban, potentially shifting towards other pet-related services or products not involving the direct sale of live dogs and cats.
---Based on the provided customer reviews and public information, there are critical points for Kentucky residents to consider regarding Puppygram Louisville:
- Reported Health Issues in Puppies: Multiple severe negative reviews describe puppies purchased from Puppygram Louisville developing significant health problems shortly after being brought home. Examples include a Havanese puppy experiencing vomiting, bloody diarrhea, dehydration, and being "absolutely COVERED in live fleas," requiring immediate and costly veterinary intervention. Another customer reported buying two puppies, a small Corgi and a Golden Retriever, both of whom were severely ill and required extensive veterinary care, with one being so ill the vet suggested returning him. These accounts directly contradict claims of puppies being "up to date" on vaccines and in good health at the time of sale.
- Allegations of "Puppy Mill" Sourcing: Several reviewers explicitly state, "This place is a puppy mill, plain and simple," or allege that the store sources puppies from "puppy mills." Public news reports and investigations have also linked Puppygram to broader concerns about sourcing from large-scale breeding facilities, sometimes across state lines, rather than reputable local breeders.
- Lack of Accountability and Customer Service Concerns: Customers reported difficulties in contacting the store after their puppies became ill, with calls not being returned and managers allegedly indicating they were "not sure what I wanted them to do." Requests for financial assistance with vet bills were reportedly denied, with the response "that is not something we do." This points to a significant concern regarding post-sale customer support and accountability for the health of the animals sold.
- Legal Challenges and Ordinance Violation: Puppygram Louisville has been the subject of a legal challenge related to a Louisville city ordinance (effective October 2024) banning the retail sale of dogs and cats from pet stores. As of June 2025, a Jefferson County Circuit Court Judge ruled against Puppygram, prohibiting them from selling dogs and cats at their Louisville location or any other establishment in Jefferson County, Kentucky. This ruling confirms the store was operating in contravention of the ordinance.
- Concerns about Falsified Records: One report cited a WDRB story indicating that Puppygram has been accused of "falsifying their vaccination records." This serious accusation, if true, raises significant health risks for both the purchased pets and potentially other animals in the household.

However, as noted above, recent public information indicates that the Louisville location may be closed or operating under significant restrictions due to a court order. It is advisable for Kentucky residents to verify the current operational status and permitted activities directly before visiting.
---Based on the provided information and recent public reports, it is imperative for Kentucky residents to approach Puppygram Louisville with extreme caution, particularly if seeking to acquire a new puppy. The overwhelming majority of detailed customer reviews paint a concerning picture of puppies purchased from this establishment frequently suffering from severe and immediate health issues, including parasitic infestations, gastrointestinal distress, and dehydration. These reports directly contradict claims of healthy, vaccinated puppies, leading to significant emotional distress and substantial veterinary expenses for new pet owners.
Furthermore, multiple serious allegations by customers and public watchdogs suggest that Puppygram Louisville may have sourced puppies from "puppy mills," a practice widely condemned for its inhumane breeding conditions and the resulting health problems in animals. The reported lack of accountability from management when confronted with sick puppies, along with denials to cover veterinary costs, further exacerbates these concerns.
Most critically, as of June 2025, a Jefferson County Circuit Court Judge has formally ordered Puppygram Louisville to cease the retail sale of dogs and cats, confirming that the business was operating in violation of a Louisville city ordinance. This legal injunction signifies a major legal and ethical red flag. Therefore, for Kentucky locals who prioritize the health and ethical sourcing of their pets, and who seek a responsible and supportive pet acquisition experience, it is strongly advised to explore alternative options that align with animal welfare best practices, such as reputable local shelters, breed-specific rescues, or highly vetted, transparent breeders.

Puppygram Louisville Reviews
Terrible Experience.Wouldn’t recommend to anyone. On Monday, November 18th, my family and I went to Puppy Gram to pick up Edgar, a Havanese puppy. He was pretty expensive, but we didn't mind because his papers indicated that he had all of his vaccines up to date and was in good health. That was not the case.Edgar vomited once on the second day home and developed bloody diarrhea, which was unusual given that he had only been eaten the food provided by Puppy Gram.We then gave him a bath, and we discovered he was absolutely COVERED in live fleas. The next day, he continued to have diarrhea until it was all blood. So we immediately scheduled a vet appointment to have him checked out.During our vet appointment, the vet mentioned that he had recently seen another case of a puppy from Puppy Gram.Edgar was examined and found to be dehydrated as a result of both the diarrhea and the fleas sucking in his blood. He is currently taking medication for his gastrointestinal problems and was treated for fleas.I called Puppy Gram twice yesterday to express my concern, and was told that their "owner" was not present both times and that I would receive a call back, which I did not, so I called again today.I spoke with a manager, who indicated she wasn't sure what I wanted them to do in this case. When I inquired if they would at least cover the $400 vet appointment bill, I was informed "that is not something we do".Long story short , I would not suggest this facility to anyone.
Nov 23, 2024 · Lea RodriguezThis place is a puppy mill, plain and simple. They do not care about the health of their dogs, only your money. They will sell you a sick dog and refuse to take any accountability. If you are curious, look into the numerous reports from others. I would not be surprised if the good reviews are made up by the owners or workers as it is very easy to fake a google account and post fake reviews.
Jun 23, 2025 · Kayla ReedMy husband and I had been contemplating getting a puppy for our two daughters (ages 5 & 10) and we decided stop by Puppygram not really knowing what we were looking for. As soon as we entered we were immediately helped by staff who were incredibly patient with our girls and took the time to help educate us on various dog breeds. My 10 year old immediately fell in love with the sweetest Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, Georgia, and it was great having the opportunity to watch them interact in a clean, large space. While we were only planning on leaving with one new furry family member, we couldn’t help but to also fall completely in love with Scooter, a 22 week old Miniature Schnauzer. The staff graciously allowed us to bring the two pups together and we spent some time as a family getting to know both of them. In the end it was clear that both Georgia and Scooter belonged in our family and we brought them both home! They have become the absolute best of friends and our daughters are completely crazy about them. My family is so thankful for the incredible experience we had at Puppygram and couldn’t imagine our family without Georgia and Scooter!
Apr 17, 2024 · Kindra WitakWow! My 13yr old had an itching to play with a puppy and heard about Puppygram so we decided to go check it out. Of course I have to look up any establishments Google reviews before going. I will say this. DO NOT PAY ANY ATTENTION TO THE BAD REVIEWS ON THIS ESTABLISHMENT. The place was immaculate! Clean, tidy, well organized, and smelled great. The dog food products that I looked at seemed to be the best and most nutritious available. Everything about the place was nothing like any of the poor reviews that I read, and that's a shame. The puppies wow! They were all very clean, healthy, and playful as they should be. My daughter loved it she was able to pet and play with all the pups she wanted. She said she would come every day if she could. The staff here were amazing also, I believe ones name was Emily she was great. They all were very friendly and you can tell they love working there. Watching their interactions with other customers as well, they are very knowledgeable on all aspects of caring for a dog. What's great about this place is you can come and let your kids pet the pups without needing to be wanting to bring one home. They welcome you to come pet the pups which is so beneficial for the pups. Will definitely be back!
