## Features and Highlights (Considerations for Patrons)
When considering any local business, particularly a pet store, the features and overall environment are crucial for pet owners. Public feedback can provide valuable insights. While some customers have expressed positive views, highlighting knowledgeable staff and consistent stock, it's essential for Texans to be aware of all perspectives to make an informed decision.
- Staff Knowledge and Helpfulness (Mixed Reports): Some customers have reported positive interactions, describing the staff as "very knowledgeable and helpful," and capable of providing assistance when asked. This suggests that for those who engage with the staff, there is potential for valuable guidance. However, other accounts suggest a lack of attentiveness, with one reviewer noting a staff member "just standing and watching TV, not paying any attention to customers or the animals," and offering "no greeting, no help offered, no signs of responsibility at all." This presents a mixed picture of customer service and engagement.
- Product Availability: Positive feedback indicates that the store "Always have what I need for my various pets," suggesting a reliable stock of common and perhaps even some specialized items.
- Animal Welfare and Store Environment (Significant Concerns Raised): A major point of concern in recent public feedback relates to the conditions of the animals and the general cleanliness of the store. One detailed review painted a very troubling picture, describing an "awful" smell upon entry and the store as a "disaster." Specific points raised include:
- Filthy Fish Tanks: Tanks reportedly covered in "thick algae," making it difficult to see the fish, and some fish appearing "unhealthy or already dead," indicating a lack of regular cleaning and poor water quality.
- Overcrowded and Unhealthy Animals: Reports of "rabbits in tiny, overcrowded cages," with some looking "sick or even dying," and birds in "cages way too small for them to move around properly." This raises serious questions about animal welfare standards.
- Overall Neglect: The environment was described as "lifeless," "dirty, depressing, and honestly disturbing," leading to the conclusion that "no one cares about these animals." This indicates a fundamental issue with the care and upkeep of the animals in the store.
- Ethical Considerations: The strong negative feedback, particularly regarding animal conditions, prompts a significant ethical consideration for potential customers. Phrases like "This place should be shut down completely" and "Please don’t support this shop" reflect serious concerns about animal well-being.
For Texans, it's crucial to weigh these diverse public observations carefully when deciding whether to visit Xtreme Fish & Pets. Personal experience may vary, but the severity of some of the negative reports regarding animal welfare is a critical factor.

Xtreme Fish & Pets Reviews
From the moment I walked in, the smell was awful. That should have been my first warning sign. I didn’t check the reviews beforehand, but now I regret it — because everything bad people say about this place is 100% true. The store is a disaster. The animals are kept in terrible, heartbreaking conditions. The fish tanks are so filthy, covered in thick algae, you can’t even see through the glass. Some fish were clearly unhealthy or already dead. The tanks look like they haven’t been cleaned in weeks — maybe longer. There were also rabbits in tiny, overcrowded cages. Some of them looked sick or even dying. Birds were stuck in cages way too small for them to move around properly. It felt lifeless inside, like the animals had just been left to suffer with no proper care. What made it worse was the staff — or should I say, the one staff member who was there. He was just standing and watching TV, not paying any attention to customers or the animals. There was no greeting, no help offered, no signs of responsibility at all. This place is not just poorly managed, it’s neglectful. It feels like no one cares about these animals. The whole environment is dirty, depressing, and honestly disturbing. This place should be shut down completely. Please don’t support this shop. I left feeling angry and heartbroken. Places like this should not be allowed to operate until they meet basic standards for animal care and cleanliness. I truly feel sorry for every animal trapped in there

Feb 17, 2025 · Mohammad FarrajAwesome place with a great variety of fancy goldfishes to choose from with different sizes and colors. The owner is very nice. I picked a jumbo ranchu goldfish, she appeared to be very healthy and active once I took her home, adapted to the new environment quickly. I will definitely coming back.
Dec 27, 2023 · Ariana BaeI have been visting this pet store on and off for the last 7 or 8 years. I’ve have been able to notice that the animals are in a bit of a crowded situation such as the rabbits and guinea pigs co-existing with about 15-20 in a 3x3. The beautiful birds are in a back storage closet in tiny cramped rusty cage, most of those types of birds need large aviaries to live in. The hamsters are in a small 20 gallon tank where they reproduce on their own with about 20-30 in a small tank. The fish seem alright however a lot of the times the tanks are dirty and many of the fish look half dead. Their reptile selection looks like a petsmart set up which is a bit better they are not as cramped together in each tank. There was a 30 gallon tank with roughly 40 or 50 green iguana babies, they had no vines to climb on and couldn’t go anywhere without stepping on eachother. Another thing is the amount of cockroaches running the place, everywhere you can see there’s dead roaches and live ones throughout the shop. The elderly lady is usually stalking around the shop and glaring at us when we come. It makes us on edge and she will follow you around and sometimes she will just sit behind you while your looking at the animals. It’s almost as if she thinks your going to steal a fish or something.Several years ago we purchased a rabbit which we had no choice of that color so he was white he was grabbed by his ears and handled like that for several minutes while the owner was trying to find a box. He then proceeded to throw the rabbit into a box that had a couple live roaches in it. We took the rabbit home and his nails were about an inch and a half long each and curving. He was scared and stressed and my daughter would give him attention and he would crave it. He would bite on her ankles if she put him down for 10 seconds. He was such a sweetheart but I believe due to his previous circumstances he passed away a few weeks later in his sleep. The animals look more of a hoarding situation than a pet shop the store itself is full of boxes and trash on one half of the store and the shelves for pet supplies are dirty. I hope these animals have a better outcome or they go to better homes where there aren’t 30 of them in one tiny cage.
Jan 02, 2024 · Royalty PalsIf I could give zero stars I would. The fish tanks were filthy and it stinks. The Guinea pigs were in a tank full of built up feces with bugs crawling everywhere. The bird were cramped in filthy cages, most of the reptiles had no food or water with no lighting and their green iguana had very bad tail rot and appeared to have passed away. The pictures on the website are not what it’s really like in there. No wonder they have no pictures posted on their walls.
