Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital Reviews
Port City never ceases to amaze me. I live about an hour away and both times that I have brought one of my animals there its been of the most urgent nature. I had waited for almost 2 hours at another emergency facility with no hope in sight of when they would be able to see my sweet girl Marilyn. She was escalating quickly and getting more sick by the moment and they came out and told me she’d need to wait longer. I put her in my vehicle, called, and started my drive to Portsmouth, so fearful of what was happening with her and completely defeated. They were calm and amazing as I sobbed, they told me that their emergency team would be waiting for her. I knew that if I could just get her there everything would be alright, and it was. The extreme trust that I have in the entire staff is unparalleled. I don’t ever want to leave Marilyn anywhere, and I felt nothing but gratitude and relief as I walked out that door with her in their care. If ever your precious animal is need of care, don’t hesitate to take the drive. They are conscious of your money- as an emergency situation is massively expensive regardless, and only perform what you consent to as well as what is necessary. If you are like me, you’d leverage every last penny to do right by your pet. They have a state of the art infrastructure and are capable of handling even the roughest of situations, and they employ the most competent and professional individuals. Port City, both Marilyn and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts ❤️
Jun 06, 2025 · Caitlin MagnonWally, our 3 year old rescue had tplo surgery with Dr Bliss. We know he’s in good hands there with him because our lab had surgery on both knees with him also and both knees were 100% after! We don’t expect anything less with Wally. He gives you all the time you need and explains everything about what he is going to do with the surgery. We have been to Port City many times with our 3 dogs and they are all caring and friendly from the minute you walk in the door. He’s 3 weeks out from his surgery now and feeling great! Thank you Dr Bliss!
May 30, 2025 · Carol RoyThe staff at Port City is absolutely fantastic. We have the most experience with the ophthalmology department. Dr. Close is compassionate and knowledgeable and puts her all into every patient. She treats our English bulldog, Gordita, as if she were her own. It hasn’t been an easy road getting her cherry eye issue under control, but we really appreciate the commitment to excellence and feel like we are an active part of our girl’s care team. They are quick to reply to questions and have squeezed us in for in person visits when needed. I would highly recommend Port City Vet to everyone.
Jun 12, 2025 · Jeanne FariaWhenever there’s an emergency with one of my dogs, Port City Veterinary Hospital is the place I trust. I’ve been there multiple times, most recently when my dog Harry needed stitches, and each experience has been exceptional. The staff is caring, attentive, and creates a calm environment even in stressful situations. I live in Massachusetts, but I’ll gladly make the drive to Portsmouth — the level of care and professionalism at Port City is absolutely worth it.
Jun 15, 2025 · Allyson S.I took my dog Todd in for abdominal swelling. I was given the worst possible news, dilated cardiomyopathy, for which there is no cure. I Sat there crying like a baby. I had very little money and they were as understanding and compassionate as any veterinary office I have ever seen. The doctor explained everything to me and explained there are meds than can help his condition to buy us a little more time together. As any pet owner will tell you, every extra day is a blessing. I am happy to say that 3 days later, the meds have helped him remove the bulk of the swelling and he's back to playing like a puppy. I know our days are numbered, however as long as he feels good and is living his best life, I won't quit on him. I suspect we will know when it's time for goodbye. Until then, he's got boat rides planned and adventures in the making. I cannot thank the staff of Port City Veterinary enough for their professionalism and a caring for my pet that is genuine and true. They are open 24/7 and I cannot recommend them enough.
