Features and Highlights
Aborn Pet Clinic presents a mixed landscape of client experiences, making it important for potential visitors to consider all perspectives.
- Positive Experiences with Dr. Raj: Several clients have expressed high satisfaction with Dr. Raj himself, describing him as "a gem." These positive interactions highlight his responsiveness to email requests for appointments and his accommodating nature.
- Effective Medical Care: Clients have reported positive outcomes for services such as teeth cleanings for Toy Poodles and the administration of shots and antibiotics for "tummy trouble," indicating effective medical treatment. One reviewer specifically noted, "He has cleaned my Toy Poodles teeth twice and has gave them all their shots and antibiotics when they had tummy trouble."
- Pets' Comfort with Dr. Raj: Some pet owners note that their dogs are "never afraid in his presence," which is a significant indicator of a gentle and reassuring demeanor from the doctor.
However, it is crucial to acknowledge significant negative feedback regarding administrative and client-facing interactions, particularly concerning a male staff member at the front desk (possibly the owner). These experiences, detailed by a highly critical review, include:
- Rudeness and Unprofessionalism: Multiple accounts describe interactions marked by a lack of greeting, dismissive tones, abrupt instructions, and sarcastic remarks. A client stated, "No 'good morning,' no greeting — just coldly told us to 'have a seat' multiple times, almost like he was rushing us."
- Poor Communication and Lack of Empathy: Customers report confusion due to changing instructions (e.g., on filling out forms) and a distinct lack of communication regarding pet hand-off and procedure timelines. The question "Did I call you? Why are you here? Did I call you?" delivered rudely, highlights a significant communication breakdown and lack of empathy for worried pet owners.
- Rough Handling of Pets: One review detailed a pet being "taken roughly and without a word," without allowing the owner to say goodbye or provide information about the pet's temperament, which can be distressing for both pet and owner.
- Suspicions of Bias: A deeply concerning aspect of the negative feedback includes an explicit accusation of racial bias, with a client stating, "I strongly suspect racism played a role in how we were treated" due to perceived irritation when family members were speaking Chinese.
- Lack of Genuine Care for Animals (Perception): The overall cold and uncaring demeanor described by some clients led one to question whether the staff member "genuinely likes animals."
These contrasting reviews suggest that while medical care from Dr. Raj may be satisfactory for some, the overall client experience can be significantly impacted by front desk interactions. For potential clients, it underscores the importance of considering diverse feedback and perhaps visiting in person to form their own impression.

Conclusion: Why This Place Is Suitable for Locals
For some pet owners in San Jose, particularly those in the Evergreen area, Aborn Pet Clinic offers a convenient local option for essential veterinary services. Positive reviews highlight Dr. Raj's responsive and accommodating approach, and his ability to provide effective care for procedures like dental cleanings and managing common pet ailments. For these clients, the personal relationship with Dr. Raj and the perceived comfort of their pets in his presence are significant advantages, making the clinic a "gem."
However, potential local clients should be aware of the widely divergent experiences reported by others, particularly concerning front-desk interactions. Issues of rudeness, unprofessionalism, lack of communication, and even accusations of racial bias present a significant concern for pet owners who prioritize a welcoming, empathetic, and respectful client experience. While the clinical care for some pets may be satisfactory, the overall interaction with certain staff members could overshadow the medical aspects. For locals considering Aborn Pet Clinic, it becomes a decision that weighs the reported positive medical care against the very strong negative feedback on customer service and professionalism. It emphasizes the importance of individual experience in choosing a local vet, and perhaps directly observing the clinic's environment to ensure it aligns with one's expectations for pet and owner treatment.

Aborn Pet Clinic Reviews
I've have great experiences taking my girls to Dr. Raj. I am surprised at the negative comments. He has always been very responsive to my email requests for appointments and accommodating. He has cleaned my Toy Poodles teeth twice and has gave them all their shots and antibiotics when they had tummy trouble. He has never been rude or dismissive at all and my dogs are never afraid in his presence. I would not be so quick to judge by reviews, but go and see for yourself. Dr. Raj is a gem in my book, I'm glad my best friend referred me to him.
Apr 24, 2025 · Debbie WalshDO NOT GO TO ABORN PET CLINIC.We had an appointment at Aborn Pet Clinic at 8:00 a.m. and drove all the way from Burlingame because it was recommended by a friend. We woke up early and brought our French Bulldog, expecting a decent experience. Instead, it was one of the most unpleasant and unprofessional visits we’ve ever had. When we arrived, the man at the front desk (I’m attaching his picture) was extremely rude. No “good morning,” no greeting — just coldly told us to “have a seat” multiple times, almost like he was rushing us. He gave us a form to fill out, which had several detailed questions. As we were completing it, he abruptly told us, “Just put your name and phone number, that’s enough.” If that’s all he needed, he should have said so from the beginning instead of wasting our time. When they came to take our dog, it was done roughly and without a word. No chance for us to say goodbye, no time to explain that she’s friendly or what she likes or doesn’t like. A man came from the back, didn’t say a word, just grabbed the leash and took her away. It felt very cold and uncaring. We asked what to expect and how long it would take. He told us “about two hours,” so we left and came back around 10:30 a.m. After all, our dog was having a lump removed from her head — we were naturally worried. But when we returned, instead of an update or reassurance, he snapped at us:“Did I call you? Why are you here? Did I call you?”We were stunned. We explained, “You said it would take two hours,” and we had come back 2.5 hours later. He just rudely replied, “Do you think we just throw the dog on the table and it’s done like that?” The sarcasm, the lack of empathy — it was shocking. He then said he’d call us around 12:00 or 1:00 p.m. and told us not to wait there. On top of that, I believe there was racial bias involved. My in-laws were speaking Chinese, and I could see how irritated he looked. I’m white, my family is Asian — and based on his behavior, I strongly suspect racism played a role in how we were treated. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at any pet clinic. I’ve had pets since I was 10 years old, and I’m 40 now. I’ve taken pets to clinics across the U.S., Europe, Dubai, and Canada — and I’ve never been treated this badly. You’re paying for a service, and you expect your pet to be treated with care — not like a burden.I absolutely do NOT recommend this place to anyone who loves their pets. Avoid it at all costs. The man in charge (possibly the owner) is rude, unprofessional, arrogant, and in my opinion, racist. I even question whether he genuinely likes animals. Don’t trust your pets with people who treat you like garbage. Please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
Jun 24, 2025 · Selim Mert BayarI recently brought my cat here for a neuter, and I couldn’t be happier with the service. From the moment I walked in, the staff was attentive and made sure I understood the process. They took the time to address all my questions, putting me at ease before the procedure. After the surgery, my kitty came back healthy, alert, and clearly well-cared-for. The clinic’s professional approach was evident in how smoothly everything went. I was especially impressed by their post-operative care instructions, which helped my cat recover quickly and comfortably. What caught me off-guard (and gave me a chuckle) was learning that my furry friend would lose his “two dragonballs.” Despite that little surprise, I can honestly say Aborn Pet Clinic provides top-notch care, and I wholeheartedly recommend them for any pet needs.
Mar 26, 2025 · Eric NguyenOur family had been going to Raj for many years and lately, I have seen a whole different side to him and his practice. I have called his office numerous times in an attempt to obtain his medical records. No response and his voicemail is full. My dog just had surgery there and we had to go back due to complications. for a second surgery. When we brought her back, he seemed extremely annoyed, and his response was, "Next time, I am charging you." I was shocked due to the seriousness of the post op complication. Her stitching opened twice and became infected. He did not even give us a dog cone. He did not stitch my dog's tail properly and we ended up having to go to the ER at Med Vet. Med Vet was a game changer. They were amazing and have called and checked up on her a few times. I also mailed a formal letter to his office for my dogs medical records and have not heard back. He has changed so much, and it is sad to see. He may be ok for vaccinations or minor visits. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET THERE FOR SURGERY. Worst experience.
Apr 08, 2025 · Maryam HashemiehWaited two weeks for an appointment. Drove 45mnts. The so-called Dr. told me to go to the pet store to get mouth wash to treat my dog’s tooth infections. My dog has severe eye discharge and he would even examine it, he immediately ruled it out as dry eye. He was so rude saying that he was there to go to the point and not kiss ass. The most unprofessional person I have ever met.
