The Animal Hospital of Boone is a comprehensive veterinary practice committed to providing a full spectrum of healthcare services for pets in the North Carolina High Country. Their dedication ensures that your animal companions receive thorough and compassionate care at every life stage. While a complete, exhaustive list of every specialized procedure is best confirmed directly with the clinic, based on excellent veterinary standards and glowing customer reviews, you can expect a wide range of essential services, typically including:
Preventative and Wellness Care: This foundational aspect of their service includes regular wellness examinations, which are crucial for early detection of potential health issues. They provide tailored vaccination protocols to protect against common diseases, comprehensive parasite prevention (for fleas, ticks, heartworm, and intestinal parasites), and valuable advice on nutrition and weight management to support your pet's overall vitality.
Diagnostic Services: To accurately diagnose illnesses and injuries, the clinic is equipped with modern diagnostic tools. This typically involves in-house laboratory capabilities for immediate blood work, urinalysis, and fecal examinations. They also utilize advanced imaging techniques such as X-rays (radiography) to assess internal organs, bones, and soft tissues, aiding in precise diagnosis.
Dental Care: Oral health is a critical component of a pet's overall well-being. Services commonly include professional dental cleanings (scaling and polishing under anesthesia), dental X-rays to identify hidden issues below the gum line, and surgical extractions of diseased teeth when necessary, along with guidance on at-home dental hygiene.
Soft Tissue and General Surgery: The hospital performs a variety of surgical procedures, ranging from routine spaying and neutering to more complex soft tissue surgeries to address various medical conditions. Patient safety is paramount, with careful pre-surgical screenings, advanced anesthetic monitoring, and effective post-operative pain management protocols in place.
Emergency and Urgent Care: As highlighted by patient testimonials, the Animal Hospital of Boone demonstrates a strong commitment to accommodating urgent and emergency cases. While they may not be a 24/7 emergency hospital, their willingness to "fit you in if you have an emergency" is invaluable to pet owners during critical times, providing prompt assessment and necessary interventions.
Pain Management: Managing both acute and chronic pain is a priority to ensure your pet's comfort and quality of life. The clinic utilizes various strategies, including appropriate medication and other therapeutic approaches, to alleviate pain from injuries, surgical recovery, or chronic conditions like arthritis.
Senior Pet Care: Recognizing the changing needs of aging animals, they offer specialized care for senior pets, which may include more frequent wellness checks, tailored diagnostic screenings to detect age-related diseases early, and management of geriatric conditions to maintain comfort and mobility.
End-of-Life Care and Euthanasia Services: As profoundly appreciated by clients, the Animal Hospital of Boone provides incredibly compassionate and respectful end-of-life services. This includes thoughtful guidance through difficult decisions, and as noted, can involve accommodating sensitive requests like allowing pets to be euthanized in the comfort of their owner's vehicle, ensuring a peaceful and dignified passing for beloved companions and providing support for grieving families.

Animal Hospital of Boone Reviews
I cannot say enough about this vet practice. Everyone there has cared for our cats as if they were their own. They do what they can to fit you in if you have an emergency and they treat you with respect and compassion. They are upfront about their pricing and we have always felt that their costs are more than reasonable. We are lucky to have a practice like this in The High Country.
May 21, 2025 · Jennifer WhittingtonThe Animal Hospital of Boone is top notch. We had to euthanize our elderly dog and they were most accommodating. They came out to our vehicle so we didn't have to go inside. The employees were kind, considerate and empathetic. Even the process of payment was without hurry.Thank you so very much for this blessing of being with our boy as he peacefully passed.Tracy and Brett Hauke.A photo of our boy living his best old man life!
Nov 21, 2024 · Tracy HaukeI will never take my dogs to any other vet. I recently rescued orphaned puppies ( 2 days old ), who had severe respiratory illnesses they got from their mom. Every other vet and hospital I took them to said they will not make it and suggested I put them down. I ended up buying an oxygen crate ( Amazon ) and Dr. Watson Called in an order for an oxygen Concentrator. All they needed was oxygen, antibiotics, calories, fluids & lots of love. They are 13 weeks old now, very strong & healthy. This practice is also VERY affordable. They really care about animals here.Just make sure you establish an account here before you actually need to come because they are booked out pretty far.
Oct 22, 2024 · AlyceThe front desk staff was very helpful and patient with helping me set up the shipment of food for my cats. I really appreciate your help! Also all three of my pets come here and you all take very good care of them. Thank you all for being helpful and kind even in stressful situations.
Mar 06, 2025 · Kris WilliamsOur big goofy boy got hit by a car on 2/25 and we rushed to find a local vet that could see him. No one local to us was taking new clients, so we tried Boone. The staff was SUPER polite and worked us in on what looked to be a busy day for them. They worked with our dog, who doesn't do well with doctors or car rides, and saw that he was respected and well cared for. Thank you all for helping us get our pup on the mend.
