Their commitment extends from proactive wellness to critical care, ensuring that animals in the North Carolina community receive the best possible attention. While specific, exhaustive lists are always best confirmed directly with the clinic, based on standard excellent veterinary practices and customer feedback, you can anticipate a wide array of services, generally including:
Wellness and Preventative Care: This forms the cornerstone of their practice, focusing on keeping your pet healthy and preventing illness. Services typically include routine physical examinations, age-appropriate vaccinations, comprehensive parasite control programs (for fleas, ticks, heartworm, and intestinal parasites), and tailored nutritional and behavioral counseling to support a thriving lifestyle.
Diagnostic Services: To accurately identify and understand health issues, the clinic likely offers a full range of in-house diagnostic capabilities. This would include advanced laboratory testing (such as blood chemistry, complete blood counts, urinalysis, and fecal analysis), as well as state-of-the-art imaging services like X-rays (radiography) and potentially ultrasound, to provide a clear picture of your pet's internal health.
Dental Care: Oral hygiene is crucial for overall health. The clinic provides professional dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing under general anesthesia, dental X-rays to assess sub-gingival health, and extractions of diseased teeth when necessary. They also offer guidance on maintaining your pet’s dental health at home.
Soft Tissue and General Surgery: A variety of surgical procedures are performed with the utmost care, including routine spaying and neutering, as well as more complex soft tissue surgeries for various conditions. Patient safety is paramount, with careful pre-surgical evaluations, sophisticated anesthetic monitoring, and comprehensive pain management protocols.
Emergency and Urgent Care: As highlighted by customer testimonials, the clinic demonstrates a remarkable capacity for handling urgent and emergency situations. While not a 24/7 emergency hospital, their willingness and ability to accommodate same-day emergency appointments for established and new patients in critical need are invaluable to the local community. This includes rapid assessment, stabilization, and appropriate intervention.
Pain Management: Recognizing that pets can experience acute and chronic pain, the clinic offers effective pain management strategies, utilizing a variety of medications and potentially other therapeutic modalities to ensure your pet’s comfort and improve their quality of life.
Senior Pet Care: Dedicated programs for aging pets focus on managing age-related conditions, early detection of diseases common in senior animals through tailored diagnostics, and supportive care to ensure a comfortable and active senior life.
Euthanasia and End-of-Life Services: When faced with the difficult decision of saying goodbye, the clinic provides compassionate and respectful end-of-life care, supporting both the pet and their grieving family with dignity and understanding.

Pet Care Clinic of the High Country Reviews
I called in the morning and they happened to have a late afternoon/early evening appointment. I brought my kitten, they ran all the tests and figured out he had a parasite. The staff were friendly and professional, and treated my kitty so well that he was purring the whole time. They recommended when to have him fixed and answered my other questions. I'll be coming back for sure.
Jul 07, 2025 · Timothy ValleeI had an emergency today and I called and explained my situation. My regular vets office would not see my dog. From the person who made the appointment to the staff who greeted me upon arrival to Cody the vet tech and Dr. Watson- you all are amazing. You helped me through on of the hardest times in my life. I lost my best friend today. You showed compassion, respect, professionalism and truly cared about me and my dog. You came through for me and my sweet dog when we needed the most help. Thank you for being there and me when I needed it the most. Dr. Watson you are a blessing to this profession. You were by me and my girls side and I appreciate you helping her be free from the pain and suffering.I highly recommend this practice. Their hearts are in the right place and your pets would be in best hands!
Apr 01, 2025 · Annette FoxWouldn’t recommend this vet to my worst enemy. Please do not bring your pets here. Not only did I feel unwelcome and treated poorly, but my puppy was not treated properly WHATSOEVER. It was his first puppy visit and they took him away from me for the exam? Not normal. They gave him a STUPID amount of shots for his first visit there. He screamed and cried in pain for a day and a half after. They asked me zero questions about him and barely talked to me. The worst part of it all? THEY GAVE MY PUPPY A MEDICATION THAT IS NOT MEANT FOR A DOG HIS WEIGHT OR AGE. I had to take him to an emergency vet appointment somewhere else to check his liver and kidneys because he was symptomatic. I could not be more displeased. Please please please take your pets elsewhere.
Mar 12, 2025 · Madison SharerSo this place is really nice, I love how friendly staff are and willing to work with low income families, I took my baby in Vanilla which is my Banana/Mojave/Spider Ball Python! I took him in because he had gotten really sick with a upper respiratory infection so the antibiotics will be helping him and he’s also very happy and feeling better, this place is a little pricey but willing to work on payment plans with you which is good I highly recommend going here they are super nice and helpful thanks to them my babies are now safe from life threatening symptoms!
