Banfield Pet Hospital Reviews
I've used Banfield for a little under 10 years now. I've had my pets on their wellness plan and used them since getting my bullmastiff when she was 3m old. I've had 2 cats that have since gone to the rainbow bridge and added 3 more in the time since.I don't believe I've ever left unsatisfied, feeling unsupported, uneducated, or, like my pet was neglected in any way. From the first visit with my Bullmastiff, Maribell, and alllll the puppy works, to her now old age getting to her.My first girl cat, Raven, started developing urinating issues. They ran all the tests they could, and we did end up having to take another test at the East Hartford location for imaging and was diagnosed with a large kidney stone, it was removed and we started her on kidney vet food. Around 2 years later, she developed neurological issues. AGAIN, they were responsive and ran every test they could, and we did have to go out for more imaging. Unfortunately, it was a large tumor in between her eyes and in her ear canals. Both vets came to the same conclusion for her future, and we, as a TEAM, decided euthanasia was best. I felt the love and compassion for Raven and my family by the whole team during the whole process and after when receiving her ashes. They kept an eye on my extremely traumatized cat, Jeremy, and made some recommendations if anything popped up, but being in the building was too risky and set him back mentally each time. 1 year after Raven went to the rainbow bridge, he had a stroke and fell from a cat tower. Again, got me to an amazing EMERGENCY vet through their referral list. Unfortunately, he passed away from the fall.Since then, we've added 3 more babies(2 cats and one more dog). They've been amazing with our cats. The girl Leia is easy, and although she's not the biggest fan of the vet, they handle her very well and are thorough with her care. The boy, Icee, ended up being cryptorchid and thought they got all of the tissues during his neuter, but we kept experiencing excessand kind. Now, the main reason for my review. My boy Lucky gets very stressed and anxious easily. he once tolerated the vet very well, but after some experiences NEAR the vet, he became extremely reactive. From the moment the shift started, they were nothing but understanding, helpful, compassionate, and accommodating. Every change and step, the collaboration from every single person who came in contact with Lucky. The confidence and trust we had in eachother while we navigated the change to come up with the best game plan for everyone. This most recent visit was the first visit that went so well, it was like getting to see a piece of the "old" Lucky again.I was mixed with joy and sadness to hear Dr. Dunipace was leaving as he was the only one who was able to successfully get close enough to Lucky. However, I am confident in the next vet and the game plan we have in place, in addition to the plan to meet the new vet.In addition to their dedication, compassion, and education-I save the MOST money with them. They are extremely affordable for a vet and are always willing to use a cheaper alternative or work with the best deals available.I am a dog trainer, and I ALWAYS recommend Banfield and will continue to do so.
Jun 15, 2025 · Amanda BissonI would like to know where all the reviews have gone for this facility? I have left a very lengthy review last year that is no longer on here and I would like it back especially because I was just coming on here to edit it with the information I was just provided....... I have recently moved out of CT and visited the Hixson locatin and found that they had two associates forcfully holding my medicated 15lbs shih tzu down to administer his shots! Since covid, I have been asking (with disregard everytime) to be in the room with him as I have noticed time and time again he was getting more and more frightened to go there (which is why they started to medicate him) this is completely unacceptable! Even the Dr. In the Hixson location felt the same way. She refused to do that to him.... she has provided a different medication to help with his fear and treated him with respect instead of like an aggressive/ uncooperative dog that the plainville location was treating him like..... also this exam was done in a room with me thereas I asked to be. They treated me and my dog with respect...unfortunately the doctor was not able or wanting to provided the exam as my dog is so fearful of the doctors/vet techs that neither of the could even pet him without him screaming out in fear... but, by the time we left, after discussing what we can do next for the benefit of my dog and the doctor/vet tech trying to show him love... he was a little more comfortable with the vet tech and he let her pet him finally.... my dog will go to anyone for pets but not at the vet.... watch out for your babies this location doesn't care about the pets that need a little extra love and comfort and just want to do what they have to do to get them out the door ... I am so happy I do not have to go back to this location again! That my dog doesn't have to endure the abuse his was getting from this location! Maybe next time, actually take the time to listen to your pet owners and do something right for once.... I am so distraught to have found this information out, and if I didn't move, I would be removing my dogs (I have 2 there and previously had 2 there). DO BETTER PLAINVILLE! Client for 16 years and only reason why I still am is because I have a new and better location to go to
Jun 26, 2025 · Lyndsey WhiteI don’t normally write reviews but I’m mad right now. My first request regarding every appointment for my dogs is having their anal glands expressed. It’s obvious they didn’t adhere to my request because my dog is miserable, scooting nonstop and whining in discomfort. This is the 2nd time this has happened. Take your dogs to Glastonbury instead. Dr. Benedict actually cares about her patients & makes sure everything is done to benefit their wellbeing. The extra miles are worth it. Never again with this office.
Apr 27, 2025 · Eeziss GeezissIn the summer of 2022, I brought my dog Leo for his annual dental cleaning. He had perfect health and was vibrant. After the cleaning, Leo came home with a raspy cough. I was told that this was because of the tube they had to place in his throat/ trachea for breathing while they did the procedure. After a few weeks, the cough continued to get worse. They took X-Rays and told me he had a “ Collapsed trachea”. They never took responsibility for what happened. He never had the cough prior to to the cleaning. He was never the same after that. This was a direct result of the medical malpractice during the dental procedure. My dog passed away from this condition March of last year. Had I not brought him for a cleaning at Banfield, Leo would have never developed the condition, and would still be alive today. I will never forget this heartbreaking experience.
Mar 14, 2025 · Angel LopezToday was one of the saddest and hardest days of life, I had to put my dog down of 14 years. The staff and doctor were incredible kind and compassionate. They did not rush the process or me and they were so gentle with my baby girl, Daisy!❤️ Thank you for your kindness
