★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I have lived in Ann Arbor since 1998. I think I’ve been to every veterinarian in Ann Arbor. I’ve decided to stick with Ann Arbor animal Hospital. They don’t price gouge you. They are very kind caring and compassionate. They’re not money hungry like a lot of veterinarians are around here and they use common sense. The Front Desk staff are very accommodating and every time I call, they take their time and answer all my questions!
August 27 · She SheWhen I first came to A2AH I was apprehensive, I didn’t believe care could be the highest quality with this “see any vet” practice, having three French bulldogs-I NEED to love and trust my vet. I am sometimes high strung when it comes to my dogs and they have taken impeccable care of us. No information has ever “fell through the cracks” Since I have received only consistent reliable service it prompted me to share after emergency surgeries, a puppy who requires a dermatologist and cytopoint injections and one on apoquel, recently they referred me to a specialist for the soft palate surgery and one time admittedly I was not my best self with the staff in front but they didn’t hold it against me. The reason they seem to be so successful is because everyone involved loves what they do, (which isn’t easy-it’s busy and people often aren’t the nicest-I have witnessed this) I always feel like they like and care about my pets. The vets are true professionals, highly knowledgeable and kind gentle spirits who love their jobs and the staff ALWAYS goes above and beyond. I truly appreciate the concern, care and compassion they afford me and my dogs. I highly recommend Ann Arbor Animal Hospital. Thank you.
February 06 · K KFrustration doesn’t begin to describe our experience over the last few years. A puncture of our cat’s artery during an arthrocentesis — which led to internal bleeding, multiple emergency visits, thousands of dollars in care at Blue Pearl Southfield, and ultimately his death — was the beginning of the end for us. After that, trust was broken. We hoped to continue care with Dr. Critchfield, who struck us as compassionate, and engaged. Unfortunately, we were denied that choice — not due to medical reasons, but seemingly because of personal feelings being prioritized above patient care. After 20 years of loyalty, mostly due to convenience than exceptional care, this was profoundly disappointing and, in our view, unprofessional. Patients and their families deserve compassionate, knowledgeable, exceptional care and the right to choose the provider best suited to them. The clinicians seem drained and unhappy under a corporate, profit-first culture. It shows. Our pets deserve better. Time for a change.
August 25 · Zerrin YilmazWe have been bringing our pets here for the better part of two decades mainly because it was convenient. The service was never great, let alone exceptional, but due to the limited options and the close vicinity to our home, it seemed the most reasonable option. To be fair, the hospital was adequate at performing basic needs like vaccinations, and as a result fit the bill for our pets while they were young and healthy. However, once our pets got older and medically complex, Ann Arbor animal hospital was unable to rise to the occasion. They seemed to rely too much on ordering everything to hike up our medical bills rather than taking the time to understand the disease and thoughtfully working up the case. We have been traveling to Tufts veterinary hospital outside of Boston for our ‘non-routine’ care and they have been instructing our vets at Ann Arbor animal hospital, mainly because they had more thoughtful and complete clinicians. Indeed, thanks to Tufts, 3 of our pets lived multiple, high functioning, additional years, when we thought (and were told) there was no hope.Recently, we asked to switch the care of our dog from Dr. Taryn Clark to Dr. Kritchfield, because we thought that the correspondence that Dr. Kritchfield has established with our doctor from Tufts would be beneficial in managing or 14 year olds complex medical history. As a physician myself, I did not think this would be a big deal as the ultimate goal should be to optimize the care of the patient. However, we were notified by Dr. Kritchfield that Dr. Clark did not approve of her continuing our dog’s care, and were informed by the hospital’s manager that this would not be possible or permitted. As such, we are scrambling to find a new vet in the area to help our 14 year old abandoned dog.In conclusion I strongly advise against Ann Arbor medical hospital because they lack the essential ingredients of great care centers, namely enthusiasm, curiosity, intellectual rigor, and professional integrity. The ultimate goal of any care provider, regardless of the circumstances, should be to understand disease, improve the health of others, and show compassion while maintaining humility and respect. I implore the vets who work at this facility to look beyond the profit, and to take this message as one to not be complacent, to read more and understand disease better, and remember the well being of the patient is the only thing that matters.
August 19 · Osman YılmazThank you so much for accommodating my urgent visit today with my baby boy Tiberious! Special thanks to Wendell, Ashley, and Dr. Clark; I am beyond grateful for the care and compassion you showed fitting me in the schedule last minute to get my fur baby on the road to recovery ❤️🩹
