As a full-service veterinary clinic, they are equipped to provide extensive medical and surgical care. Based on general veterinary practices and information available, you can expect the following services:
General and Preventative Pet Care: This foundational service includes routine annual wellness exams, comprehensive physical assessments, and ongoing discussions about your pet's diet, exercise, and overall lifestyle. The aim is to proactively identify and address potential health issues early, promoting optimal well-being for pets of all ages, from puppies and kittens to senior companions.
Tailored Vaccination Programs: Essential for protecting pets from common and serious infectious diseases, vaccination schedules are customized based on your pet's individual risk factors, lifestyle, and potential exposure to local pathogens in Tennessee. This includes core vaccines (such as rabies, which is legally mandated in TN, and distemper/parvovirus) as well as non-core vaccines determined by your pet's specific needs.
Parasite Prevention and Control: Diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing prevention strategies are crucial for both internal (e.g., heartworms, intestinal worms) and external (e.g., fleas, ticks) parasites, which are prevalent in the Tennessee climate. Effective parasite control is vital for both pet health and public health, given the zoonotic potential of some parasites.
Microchipping: A simple, quick, and highly effective procedure for permanent pet identification, significantly increasing the chances of reunification should your pet ever become lost. It offers invaluable peace of mind for pet owners.
Nutritional Counseling: Expert guidance on appropriate diet and feeding plans to support optimal health, manage weight, address specific dietary needs or sensitivities, and support growth in young animals or manage conditions in older pets. Proper nutrition is a cornerstone of long-term health.
Diagnostic Services: The hospital is equipped to perform various diagnostic tests, which typically include in-house laboratory testing for blood work, urinalysis, and fecal exams. These capabilities allow for quick and accurate insights into your pet's internal health, aiding in the timely diagnosis and treatment of various conditions.
Surgical Procedures: Animals West Veterinary Hospital offers both small and large animal medicine and surgery services. This includes routine surgeries such as spaying/neutering, as well as addressing other surgical needs, performed with an emphasis on patient safety and recovery.
Dental Care: This generally includes routine dental examinations and guidance on at-home dental hygiene to prevent periodontal disease and maintain oral health, which is crucial for a pet's overall systemic health.
Pain Management: Assessment and implementation of tailored treatment plans for both acute and chronic pain, ensuring comfort and improving the quality of life for pets suffering from various conditions, injuries, or post-surgical recovery. A compassionate approach to pain relief is fundamental.

Animals West Veterinary Hospital - James Greer DVM Reviews
They put my baby down today, turns out she had cancer. The vet was very calm and sweet and quiet, let us know our options, let us bring her home to bury, and when my sweet baby left us she gently told us "she's gone" and helped us remember that there was nothing we could have done to stop her from getting blood cancer. Though I am upset at losing my baby, and not exactly happy with the fact that we got charged for an x ray even when they knew she had cancer and needed to be put down in order to not live in pain, I understand they needed to check all boxes, and I hope to see my baby in heaven eventually.
Jun 04, 2025 · Jas SnowWe took our pup to this vet as a walk-in due to our being new to Greeneville. Our pup was bit by another dog. Very friendly staff took our information and was able to have the vet look at our girl quickly. Dr. Amanda was very nice and took great care of Lucy. She explained what we needed to do and what to watch for in the next few days. The cost of our visit was very reasonable-less than our hometown vet. Highly recommend bring your fur baby her if you need a good vet.
Apr 16, 2025 · Melanie CoateI waited to be worked in! The Receptionist was very nice! She said her schedule was booked. She then informed me I could wait and be worked in. That was nice since I really wanted the Vet to see my dog that day. I got in within 45-hour. Vet was very thorough in checking out my dog. I chose not share much and she ended up noticing the majority of the reason for my visit. I liked that! She recommended a couple ways to treat my dog. It was nice to hear options and she was very detailed in her knowledge in explaining the reasons for each treatment. She had detailed knowledge about the meds and purposes for giving them. She also requested a 2 week follow up. She wanted to be aggressive with the treatment. She explained she would prescribe and observe the effects and we would then withhold any/one of the meds if treatment was working as she planned. She was sincere, focused and interested in the best treatment for my dog. Prices were the I have seen.
Jun 12, 2025 · Valarie EvansI wish my doctor treated me as well as my vet took care of my puppyOn Sunday, my 8 week old puppy started getting very sick…. You guessed it. Parvo…..I was so scared and felt lost…. I took it to an emergency vet clinic and when the quoted me a price on what it would take to save my puppy…. I almost broke down… I couldn’t afford it.But I had heard a rumor…. That Dr. Tony and Amanda were parvo puppy whisperers…. I had heard they were reasonable…. I had heard they were legends in the business. The next day, I loaded my puppy and drove to Greeneville (from Kingsport) with only a hope and a prayer. As I walked in…. Desperate to save a puppy who belonged to a 4 year old little girl… I saw that outlaw vet… and I asked him to save my puppy..His response? The spirit of Doc Holiday filled the room as he looked at me square in the eyes and said “I’m your Huckleberry”…. Then, he looked at my dog, straight down into his soul, he identified the parvo and said “say when”Dr. Tony and Dr. Amanda saved my little Hound…. And made a little girl extremely happy…I’ll be driving to Greeneville, from Kingsport, to have them take care of my dog… because you can’t beat great, honest service
