When it comes to your pet's health, choosing a veterinary hospital is a significant decision. Banfield Pet Hospital in Fort Worth offers a structured approach to care, centered on its preventative wellness plans. For many Texans, these plans can be an effective way to budget for routine visits and ensure their pets receive consistent care. The convenience of having an animal hospital that can handle a wide range of services, from a simple blood test to complex surgery, is also a major draw.
However, it is crucial to consider all available information, including both positive and negative experiences from other clients. While one customer may have a great experience with the front desk staff, another's review points to serious concerns about patient safety, communication, and accountability. The detailed description of a pet suffering an injury and a lack of follow-up from management is a significant concern that prospective clients should be aware of. Similarly, the note about a vet not properly approaching a dog, leading to a defensive reaction, highlights the importance of patient handling and a fear-free approach to pet care.
For some pet owners, the corporate nature of a large chain like Banfield can be a source of concern, as some reviews suggest a focus on a standardized process and revenue goals over personalized and compassionate care. On the other hand, the consistency and availability of services, along with features like their wellness plans, are seen as major benefits by other pet owners. When considering Banfield Pet Hospital, it is recommended to have a clear understanding of your pet’s specific needs and to ask direct questions about their handling and communication protocols. For those who prioritize a comprehensive, preventative model and value a standardized service offering, Banfield can be a suitable option. However, for those with pets that require a highly personalized or gentle approach, it may be worth a thorough consultation to ensure their specific needs can be met.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I am beyond upset with the experience I had at Banfield. I brought my dog in for a biopsy, and when I picked her up, I was shocked to find her with a swollen, bloodshot eye. When I asked what had happened, the doctor casually explained that she had been “uncooperative” and had hit her head multiple times on the ground—possibly causing the eye trauma. That explanation is not only disturbing, it’s unacceptable. As a pet parent, I entrusted Banfield with the health and safety of my dog, and I expected a level of care that would prevent this kind of injury. If she was showing signs of distress or was difficult to handle, more compassionate and appropriate restraint methods should have been used—or I should have been contacted. Allowing her to repeatedly harm herself is negligent. To make matters worse, I was told a refund would be issued for the biopsy, but I am still waiting. Now, conveniently, the manager is “unavailable,” and I have received no follow-up or accountability. This entire experience has been heartbreaking and frustrating. Banfield needs to do better—for the pets they treat and the families who trust them. I will not be returning and cannot in good conscience recommend them to anyone who values their pet’s well-being.
August 01 · Daniliz PinedaAlways the staff in front are very polite and nice with us.However we had an unexpected situation because; The doctor didn't approach my dog properly the first time; he wanted to see inside of his mouth or examine his teeth. But he didn't let my dog smell his hand and get comfortable. That's when my dog tried to bite him.
May 22 · Maria DavilaShiloh had been neutered and Dr Herd as well as a staff member called us immediately after surgery to let me know all went well. The facility is very clean, well kept! They are thorough on exams, keep us up to date by phone call or email on Comprehensive exams and vaccines. I find this location to be great, doctors and staff extremely gentle, loving with our 3 babies.
August 22 · Barbara GrayI'm updating my review to 5 stars based on my most recent visit in April 2025. I can see things have improved here.I was genuinely impressed and grateful for the care my dog received during this appointment. In the past, I had doubts about returning, but this experience completely changed my perspective. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed—the front desk staff was warm and friendly, especially the kind lady who checked us in. That small gesture made a big difference and set a positive tone for the visit. The in-person visit with Dr. Barich and nurse Caitlyn was smooth and efficient—they were done in just 20 minutes. What stood out most was how gentle, patient, and kind they were throughout the entire process. As a pet parent, it meant so much to witness them truly connecting with my dog, keeping him calm and comfortable while talking to him the entire time. It’s clear they care deeply about their patients, and I left feeling confident and reassured.Thank you, Dr. Barich and Caitlyn, for taking such wonderful care of my fur baby!----------------------------------------------------------------Previously rated 1/5 - December 2024I am incredibly disappointed with the care my dog received at this pet hospital. This was his second time getting a dental cleaning, and his reaction to the anesthesia was alarming. He was so heavily drugged that he couldn’t walk or use the bathroom for 24 hours. He was visibly in pain and completely out of it, which had never happened before. When I called to express my concerns, the staff lacked empathy towards my dog’s behavior. When I went to pick him up, the experience was equally frustrating. The doctor didn’t even bother to come out to discuss the procedure or address the concerns we had raised beforehand. My dog was returned to me dirty, covered in saliva, and clearly uncomfortable. To make matters worse, they didn’t follow up the next day or in the days after to check on how he was doing—even though I had called just a few hours after the procedure to report my concerns. The lack of empathy and compassion from this hospital is appalling. From the moment you walk in, the front desk staff exudes bad energy, which should’ve been a red flag. Based on my experience, I do NOT recommend this place. They failed to provide the care and attention every pet and pet owner deserves.
April 24 · ElizabethI’ve been bringing my 13 year old cat Quimby to this location for the past month and they have been sooooo fantastic! Initially he was brought in for dental work and was simultaneously diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and after a few weeks into his medication he has been doing FABULOUS. I have terrible separation anxiety and they allowed me to sit in the room to cuddle with my boy while his labs were being completed. They completely understood and were empathetic. I’m so glad we switched to this location. Everyone there so far has just been absolutely amazing!
