When considering Banfield Pet Hospital, it's important to weigh the benefits against potential drawbacks. The main benefit worth choosing is the convenience and the structured approach to pet health, particularly through their Optimum Wellness Plans. For some pet owners, the idea of having a single, predictable monthly payment for a range of services—including vaccinations, wellness exams, and dental cleanings—is very appealing. The hospital's ability to handle various needs, from spaying and neutering to lab work and urgent care, provides a comprehensive solution for routine pet care. The modern facilities, including digital radiography and an in-house lab, are also significant advantages.
However, the experience at this location, as with many corporate vet clinics, can be mixed. Some clients have reported a focus on upselling the care plans, which can overshadow the primary purpose of the visit. The emphasis on plans might lead to a perception of a "used-car-salesman" approach, as one review describes, which can be off-putting for some. Communication can also be a challenge, with some clients reporting a lack of updates or transparency about their pet's care during long stays. While some staff members are praised for their kindness and professionalism, consistency across the board may vary. The impersonal nature of a large corporate structure, which can sometimes lead to poor communication or internal management issues, is something to be aware of. Ultimately, the value of choosing Banfield will depend on your personal preference for a structured, plan-based approach to pet healthcare versus a more traditional, small-clinic feel.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1An experience I’ll never forget – and not in a good way. When I first arrived at Banfield pet Hospital on Glisan, I was greeted by a friendly staff, and was talked to politely by the nurses and reception. When I stepped outside to check on the dog who was waiting in the car patiently (it was a cool day), I held the door for a gentleman walking by who worked at Banfield. The gentleman did not acknowledge me nor say thank you. That’s OK. People have bad days.Onward, the dog’s visit went fine and the nurse was very nice. The doctor however, was much more concerned about selling me plans than he was about talking to me about the dog. Every single thing he told me, and I mean every single thing, was followed up by “this would be much better if you purchased a care plan.” That’s fine once or twice. I started counting after the second time and he literally mentioned plans nine times during my 15 minute visit. I felt like I was being sold a used car, not at a veterinarian’s office. After coming back with the dog from drawing blood, we went over my bill. The total was gone over by the veterinarian and the nurse. I said the total was fine and I would pay on the way out the door.I paid my bill, and then on the way out of the door they literally yelled at me to come back. They had forgotten to charge me for one of the services and informed me it would be another $90. This happens; no big deal, people make mistakes. I said no thank you I didn’t want the service done anymore. The receptionist began to refund my money (for a different charge related to the same service), and apparently made some kind of mistake. The same vet who was tending to my dog came out to chastise her about the mistake in front of me. It was highly embarrassing for me, I’m sure it was embarrassing for the staff member, and it damn sure was an embarrassment to Banfield as a whole. That is not how you manage people. You absolutely do not reprimand people in front of customers.By the way, remember the door I held for that person in the beginning of this review? That was the veterinarian. I’m not very surprised after the way he treated that poor receptionist.Needless to say, I will not be returning to this used-car-salesman staffed veterinary hospital. The only reason they’re getting three stars is because of how nice the rest of the staff was, and how actually concerned about the pet the veterinarian was.
July 28 · Mayor DigglerDisappointing Experience at BanfieldI had an incredibly frustrating experience at Banfield recently. I brought my kitten in for care, and she ended up staying there for over nine hours with very little communication from the staff. I understand that vet clinics can get busy, but the lack of updates and transparency about her condition and wait time was unacceptable. When I finally got her back, I was disappointed with the overall care and attention she received. After such a long stay, I expected a more thorough assessment and clear next steps, but instead, I was left with more questions than answers. Given the long wait and poor communication, I won’t be trusting Banfield with my pet’s care in the future.

August 05 · Marcia FigueroaI brought my cat here oct/31 and my dog here today nov/3 for each of their introductory visits for my new wellness plan. I showed up like 15 minutes early for each appointment and was seen right away. Front desk was very helpful for scheduling and breaking down payments as well. Both appointments went really good, the doctors and vet techs seemed helpful and like they knew what they were talking about, and I didn’t feel like they were pushing or trying to sell extra. For the cat, she needed a flea preventative so they got me a 6 month supply of Revolution. She’s indoor only but ever since I got the dog were in and out a lot and I noticed her grooming a lot more. The Revolution must have killed any fleas she had because she is back to her normal grooming behavior. They also got her up to date on her vaccines and sent us on our way. They also sent me home with her heartworm preventative. For the dog, she was due for a preventative as well so we got her a 6 month supply too. I had a few concerns and the doctor came in and addressed them all with me, I really appreciated that. They also got her some prescription antibiotic wipes to prevent any itchiness and stuff. All in all, for both animals I left feeling confident in their care, I found the staff to be very friendly, and I felt my money was well spent.
November 03 · Mike SeveranceI love this Banfield. The staff are super friendly and it's obvious they truly care about the animals. Their wellness plans are really affordable and a life saver in today's economy. I highly recommend this location.
