Daisy Hill Animal Hospital Introduce
For pet owners throughout Ohio, finding a veterinary clinic that provides not only skilled medical care but also genuine compassion and understanding is paramount. The bond we share with our animal companions is profound, and when they are ill or in distress, we seek a veterinary team that recognizes and honors this connection. In Ashland, Ohio, Daisy Hill Animal Hospital is a local veterinary practice that aims to serve the community's pet health needs. However, like any service provider, experiences can vary, and it's important for prospective clients in Ohio to have a clear understanding of what to expect based on available public feedback.
The process of choosing a veterinarian involves more than just geographical convenience; it encompasses the quality of care, the responsiveness of the staff, and the overall compassionate approach during what can be very emotional times. Pet owners in Ohio often rely on word-of-mouth and shared experiences to guide their decisions, especially when facing critical situations or contemplating difficult choices. The following overview of Daisy Hill Animal Hospital aims to synthesize client experiences, highlighting aspects that are consistently praised alongside areas where some customers have noted concerns. Understanding these perspectives is crucial for any Ohio resident seeking the right veterinary partner for their beloved animal.
Daisy Hill Animal Hospital is located at 2215 Center St, Ashland, OH 44805, USA. This address places the clinic conveniently within Ashland, Ohio, making it accessible for residents in the city and surrounding areas. The clinic's website indicates it is "conveniently located at the intersection of the St. Rte. 42 bypass and Center Street (St. Rte. 60), south of downtown Ashland. Look for the stone building and paw print window." This description suggests that the clinic is easy to find and navigate to, which is beneficial for pet owners, especially when time is of the essence during an emergency.
The hours of operation are generally by appointment, with typical hours being 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, with Wednesday being closed. While the physical location offers good access for Ohio residents, client reviews touch upon aspects of appointment availability and immediate service, particularly in non-scheduled or urgent scenarios. This suggests that while the clinic's location is accessible, its capacity to take on unscheduled or immediate cases might vary, which is a point for Ohio pet owners to consider when evaluating responsiveness.

Daisy Hill Animal Hospital presents a mixed bag of features and highlights based on varied customer experiences, which Ohio pet owners should be aware of:
Comprehensive Service Offering: A key highlight is the wide array of veterinary services available, covering general wellness, advanced diagnostics, various surgeries (soft tissue and orthopedics), and specialized dental care. This suggests a well-equipped facility for a broad range of pet health needs.
Emphasis on Education and Informed Decisions: The clinic states a client- and pet-focused approach with an emphasis on education, aiming to help owners make informed decisions about their pet's care. This is a positive feature for those who wish to be actively involved in their pet’s health management.
Positive Experience for Routine/Non-Critical Cases: One customer lauded the care for their "old kitty Roscoe," noting the vet was "very informative," didn't "pressure into unnecessary procedures," and they "learned a lot about cat health." This indicates a strong positive experience for certain types of visits.
Cost-Effectiveness (per some clients): The same positive review mentioned preferring "the prices here compared to the other vets in the area," suggesting they offer competitive pricing for the services provided.
Concerns Regarding Compassion and Responsiveness in Critical Situations: A particularly concerning highlight from one review points to a perceived lack of compassion and unwillingness to perform an immediate exam on a very sick, elderly dog (Roe Roe) despite an existing appointment, even 45 minutes before closing. The reported statements from the vet ("in my experience when these things happen there can be cancellations and I don’t have time for that because I can be treating other patients. Call me when the time comes and I’ll see what I can do") indicate a potential challenge in handling emotional, urgent situations and prioritizing patient needs over strict scheduling, especially when the office appeared empty.
Perceived Lack of Patients/Traffic: One reviewer's observation that they "never even see cars parked at this office which tells me not many people come to this clinic, probably for reason" suggests a perceived lack of regular client flow, which might influence new clients' perceptions.

For locals in Ohio, deciding if Daisy Hill Animal Hospital is suitable for their veterinary needs depends heavily on the specific situation and their priorities. The clinic offers a broad range of standard veterinary services, including comprehensive wellness, diagnostics, and various surgeries, suggesting a well-equipped facility for general pet health. Positive feedback highlights informative vets, competitive pricing, and a lack of pressure for unnecessary procedures, which are all commendable qualities for routine care.
However, a significant concern emerges from a review detailing a highly distressing experience during an urgent, end-of-life consideration for an elderly dog. The perceived lack of compassion and unwillingness to perform an immediate examination, even when the pet was critically ill, raises questions about the clinic's handling of emotionally sensitive and time-critical situations. For Ohio pet owners who prioritize empathetic, immediate, and flexible care during emergencies or difficult decisions, this feedback is crucial to consider. While some may find it suitable for routine visits, those who anticipate needing a high level of responsiveness and compassion during unexpected crises might wish to explore alternatives or discuss these concerns directly with the clinic before committing to care.

Daisy Hill Animal Hospital Reviews
I brought my mom in with her dog who is 16 years old because we thought it was time to say goodbye. For two days she hasn’t eaten or drank anything with episodes of vomiting and diarrhea. She wasn’t able to walk or stand. Once we got to the clinic our beloved Roe Roe perked up and started walking around the floor and sniffing around. We were apprehensive of the decision to make the call to euthanize her which is what we were coming to the vet to do. We have never been to this clinic but made the choice to come because her primary vet clinic was closed. Once we arrived Dr. Irvin? Not sure her name immediately greeted us with little compassion on the matter. Once we got into the exam room we told her we didn’t know if this was the right decision because Roe Roe seemed to be acting different. I asked her what would she recommend us doing. She said she would want to do an exam but didn’t have time to do one at that moment. She said at best we could try for Thursday appointment. When we told her we would like to make that appointment she said “in my experience when these things happen there can be cancellations and I don’t have time for that because I can be treating other patients. Call me when the time comes and I’ll see what I can do” once again showing zero compassion. There wasn’t a single other patient in the office waiting. In fact I never even see cars parked at this office which tells me not many people come to this clinic, probably for reason. She was extremely rude, and I wouldn’t recommend anyone bring their pet to this clinic especially with an appointment at 5:15, 45 minutes before closing because that’s probably why she didn’t have time to do an exam on our sick dog. Dr. Rudy had better things to do than to perform an exam on a loveable sweet old gal, so we were sent home with the unknown in a day that could be her last.
Jan 28, 2025 · Kayla HelmsThey handled my old kitty Roscoe with so much care, even baby talking him to make him calm. The vet was very informative and made sure I knew of everything I was getting into and paying for! My father, who was with me, thought it was pricy... But I much prefer the prices here compared to the other vets in the area. They didn't pressure me into unnecessary procedures, and I learned a lot about cat health to help my baby live longer! Highly recommend this place.

Dec 18, 2023 · Sonya E.Very happy. My pup was sick and I got in right away. I came in early and they took care of us and my pup is typically scared of people, but they were very kind and gentle. She is back to 100% and I will definitely be back if necessary....as I have a vet in another state.
