★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I feel like this office has given me problem after problem.. starting when I had to have surgery on my dog. I explained extensively that we were not able to afford a surgery since we had just been given this dog without notice and were unprepared. They told me the vet would help with cost, great! They gave me the quote and it still wasn’t something I was able to afford. I told them tearfully I thought my only option was to put him down since he couldn’t live without the surgery and we couldn’t afford it. The lady on the phone told me they had organizations that would help with cost. I gave them the green light to go ahead. After the surgery and my dad paying $200 towards it for us, we still ended up paying basically what we were originally quoted. I’m not sure how much the organizations paid but I felt mislead as I extensively expressed how we could not afford it. We made it work, I am able to keep my baby, moving on it’s fine. Then he had an ear infection, I called them and asked if they had a specific oil based medication since he chronically gets these and it is the only thing that works. I even called his old vet and got the exact prescription and sent it to them. I was told they did have it to bring him in. When I went to pick it up it was not an oil based medication. When I explained that I needed oil based, and the lady on the phone told me they had it, I was told that they do not have it, and that if it didn’t work to bring him back in and they’d try something else. It didn’t work, I got some of the oil based medication from another vet. I took him to get him groomed and they told me they nicked his eye because there was a old dog mole that they thought was an eye booger. Charged me for medication to treat it. That medicine didn’t work and the spot has gotten HUGE in size and keeps breaking open and bleeding. When I took him in today at 7:20 I was told he would get an exam, kennel cough shot, the vet would give me a quote to remove the spot, and be groomed. I called to check since I hadn’t heard anything around 1:00 and I was told that they are short staffed on doctors, the doctor wouldn’t be able to see him, and look at his eye. When I went to pick him up they weren’t able to finish his groom on his face (understandably he’s got a painful spot so nothing against the groomer). But he was left with half his ears shaved and everything else going forward was not bathed or trimmed at all, or so it appears. He stinks so bad. When I picked him up they gave me a grooming report and told me he would need sedation to finish his face. I called to inquire as to why I wasn’t called and told so I could give the green light for sedation so we could finish the groom. The sweet receptionist wasn’t sure and told me they were all gone for the day but to call back tomorrow. She did let me know that apparently it was charted during his last visit that he would need sedation but I don’t recall ever being told that. I certainly wasn’t told that when I called to make the appointment, or when I dropped him off which would have been nice so I didn't waste $98 to get back a stinky partially groomed dog. Needless to say I have exhausted all of my patience with this office and have found a new vet.
July 24 · Jessica HesterWe've always had a great experience here! We have a dog and cat and can always trust we will be able to see a vet ASAP when the need arises or for their annual checkups. We've also used their boarding and grooming services for our dog and they did a great job with both. The staff is always friendly and the facilities are well maintained and clean.
April 04 · Sarah LongWe have gotten flea medication there every single year without any problems because my Dog goes else where to see the vet and gets her check ups there. We get the flea medication at Flint River because its a little cheaper. The RUDE receptionist stated she had to come in and see a vet to get the medication this time, even tho for 5 years this has never been a problem. We will be taking our money else where. Your receptionist is very rude and its bad business.
July 29 · Andrea KishEarlier this morning, our 18 year old chihuahua started having problems breathing. Within minutes she was struggling. We knew it was time to have her euthanized and knew she wouldn’t make it far. Winchester Animal Hospital was the closest to us. They refused to see her and euthanize her. Luckily Flint River Animal Hospital got us in immediately. She passed in my arms before they could euthanize her. But they made every effort to help her. She was our beloved family pet and to get turned away in an emergency situation like this was heartbreaking. So very thankful for Flint River Animal Hospital for their compassion and kindness.
April 25 · J SnowIf I could give zero starts I would. The one star is for the gentleman at the front desk who is taking a beating for this horrible practice. I transferred my dogs to Flint once we moved to the area. Last week my eldest dog stopped eating and just went lethargic. She is 13 years old so I assumed it was her time. I called the office and explained that I think my dog is dying and I don't know what to do. I was told to bring her in. Once I walked in with her in my arms the woman at the front desk said this is the emergency visit to the other woman at the desk with her. She asked "well what does she want" and the other woman said "she thinks her dog is dying" in the coldest, most annoyed voice. The second woman said to me "well come on" and took me to a room where she said I guess someone will be with you soon. The vet herself was caring and it was determined my baby was in kidney failure she said she needed to come back the next day for fluids. I dropped her off at 7 am and heard nothing so I called and was told the vet (Dr. Carr) on duty was at lunch and she would call me when she returned. Nothing still so I called back and was told she wasn't coming back until 4pm. Finally at 4pm a TECH calls me and tells me to pick her up at 5pm. My husband picks her up the vet does not come into the room to talk to us they send their receptionist who is a very nice man but is having to google the medications on her form so we know what she was given. They gave her pain medication without any communication to us. The vet refused to speak to us and we were told she was only really pet sitting because my dog wasn't her patient. They demanded payment even though her treatment wasn't over. We took our girl home. My four dogs are no longer with Flint River Animal Hospital.
