- Dedicated and Caring Staff: Multiple positive reviews highlight the friendly and attentive nature of the staff, from the front desk to the veterinary professionals. Terms like "always friendly," and a general sense of trust in their care, indicate a welcoming environment.
- Thorough Veterinary Care and Communication: One highly positive review specifically praises the doctors for taking their time "to talk you through any issues and the plan for care." Dr. Jellison is noted for thoroughly investigating complex issues and devising effective treatment plans, which is crucial for pets with ongoing health challenges.
- Post-Visit Follow-Up: The practice reportedly "follows up to check in the following days after our visit," demonstrating a commitment to patient recovery and owner peace of mind, a valuable service for many pet families.
- Responsiveness to Appointment Needs: Despite the hospital often being busy, the ability to get "an appointment quickly when needed" for routine or urgent situations is a significant benefit for pet owners.
- Compassionate Support (as per one review): In one instance, a significant "break on the bill" was provided for a complex case, which was "so very appreciated," indicating a degree of understanding and compassion for clients facing challenging situations.
However, it is crucial to acknowledge a detailed negative review that describes a deeply concerning experience, including a perceived lack of communication regarding test results, alleged overcharging for unreceived medication, and a lack of follow-up from the vet or management regarding a severely ill dog who subsequently needed emergency care elsewhere. This highlights that individual experiences can vary significantly, and consistent, clear communication, especially in critical situations, is vital for client trust and pet well-being.

Given the mixed nature of the reviews regarding communication, calling ahead and discussing expectations for test results and follow-up care in advance could be a prudent step for pet owners.

For Paws Blue Cross Animal Hospital Reviews
I've been bringing my kitties here for close to a decade and am always happy with the care we receive. The doctors take their time to talk you through any issues and the plan for care and the office follows up to check in the following days after our visit. Recently, my male cat has had some more complex issues going on. Dr. Jellison investigated the problems thoroughly and has us on a treatment plan that's helped tremendously. She also gave us a huge break on the bill which was so very appreciated. The staff are always friendly and the place is always busy, but I've never had issues getting an appointment quickly when needed.
May 01, 2025 · Lindsay RouzzoWe have been taking our pets to For Paws since 2022. We have always trusted our babies with their staff and only ever had positive things to say. That changed on May 2, 2025.Our 9 yr. old golden retriever had been vomiting and had diarrhea for 12 hours. I called and they got her in at 10am. Dr. Jellison examined her and explained that she was “very sick and dehydrated”. She would need blood work and x-rays to determine what was going on, and IV fluids all day. She went over the cost with us and it was almost $1200.00. We didn’t hesitate because we trusted her with our girl. So at 3:00pm when we hadn’t heard anything, I called and was told, that the dog would be ready to go home at 5:pm.At 4:50, as we were pulling into the parking lot, we had to stop and let Dr. Jellison out because the parking lot is so small. We walked in and the tech was there with an invoice for all of the services, some drugs, and some going home instructions. She could not answer any of our questions but made sure we knew that our dog “still has the “hershey squirts”. But the most concerning thing was that there were no results for the blood work and x-rays. Neither had come back. The bill that included those services was ready though, totaling $435.00 and they charged us for medicine that we never got. For Paws actually sent her home as sick as she was when she came in that morning and said that if she continues to vomit and have “the hershey squirts” to take her to the ER. Where was the vet? Why had she left early on a Friday rather than staying with her patient, and answering our questions? She was the one who admitted our dog and made clear how sick she was. That day we paid $1065.00 and got back zero results and a very sick dog.At 4:30 in the morning, after numerous bouts with vomiting and diarrhea throughout the night, we took our dog to the ER. They ran the exact same tests that For Paws had run that day, but because we didn’t have those results back, we had to run them again. My dog spent 2 days in the ER.We are frustrated and furious. Dr. Jellison absolutely knew those test results would not be back before the end of the day, and not until Monday, because it was Friday. She hospitalized our dog rather than sending her directly to the ER. It does not end here.Monday morning, For Paws called to check on the dog, and we told them she had spent the whole weekend in the ER. That the For Paws invoice included charges for medicine that we never received, and that we were really unhappy with how things went. The only thing they said was they would credit our account for the overcharge. At that time we were given the name of Ashley Williams, their office manager and transferred to her voice mail. We left a detailed message. We fully expected to hear from Dr. Jellison ,or Ashley to run through what they had done at the ER and discuss what would be the next step in our dogs care. We NEVER got a call from Dr. Jellison, or anyone else regarding the way things happened, and we gave them plenty of time.On May 20th, 18 days after this all happened and we STILL HAD NOT HEARD FROM ANYONE AT FOR PAWS, nor had we received any x-ray or blood work results, we went into the office and closed our account.
Jun 02, 2025 · gigi somervilleTook my older (12 years old) dog there to get a couple of lumps checked out. All of the staff were very helpful and my dog, who is generally a little nervous around vets, liked all of them. They were able to get me in within a week and had good news in the checkup. Glad I came to this vet and even though it’s a little out of my way, I will definitely make them my regular vet!
Jan 04, 2025 · Grace DonzeDr. Jennifer Jellison is amazing! We took our sweet boy (male cat) in yesterday with a urinary blockage, which is fatal if not treated quickly. Even though it was close to closing time she went above and beyond to unblock our kitty and found ways to keep the procedure and overnight monitoring affordable, saving us around $3,000 compared to emergency room cost. She was also so caring and compassionate, you can tell she really cares about her patients and their humans. I will be forever grateful for what she did for us and will always recommend this vet!
Jan 17, 2025 · Aubrianna GrisezWant to give a huge thank you to Dr Jellison and her staff for saving our German Shepard last Thursday night. He was accidentally run over by a Ranger/ATV which severely injured his back leg/hip. The office was closing in 20 mins when we brought Zeke in. Dr Jellison immediately took him and gave him sedation & pain medicine and examined and stabilized him. He had a pelvic fracture and was in shock. She called MedVet in Akron and spoke to the Dr there and organized a transfer for overnight care. After 2 1/2 days in the hospital Zeke is home with us and doing well all things considered. Dr Jellison saved Zeke. We are so grateful she was there to help him that night. Can’t say enough good things about Dr Jellison and her staff.
