Golden Animal Hospital Introduce
For pet owners in Colorado, particularly those in the Golden area, finding a reliable and comprehensive veterinary service is crucial. Our pets are a part of our daily lives, and their health concerns, whether routine or unexpected, can be a major source of stress. The ideal veterinary practice is one that can handle everything from a puppy's first vaccinations to a senior pet's specialized needs, and is also there for us during an emergency. Furthermore, in a state with such a strong agricultural and equestrian tradition, a hospital that can provide care for large animals, like horses, is a unique and valuable resource.
Golden Animal Hospital in Golden, Colorado, aims to be this comprehensive care provider for the local community. It is a full-service animal hospital and veterinary practice that caters to both small and large animals, offering a wide range of services under one roof. They are equipped to handle everything from routine wellness exams to complex surgeries and even provide emergency services. This versatility makes them a go-to choice for pet owners who have a variety of animals, from small household pets like dogs and cats to larger animals. While they have faced some challenges with client communication and staff turnover, the hospital is known for its affordable prices, especially for equine care, and its ability to provide a wide range of veterinary services that might otherwise require a visit to multiple different clinics. This focus on providing extensive care is what makes Golden Animal Hospital a noteworthy option for pet owners in the area.
Golden Animal Hospital is located at 17575 S Golden Rd, Golden, CO 80401, USA. This well-established address places it in a convenient location for residents of Golden and the surrounding areas. A key aspect of a veterinary hospital is its accessibility, especially when dealing with emergencies or transporting large animals. To address this, the hospital features a wheelchair accessible entrance and a wheelchair accessible parking lot. This ensures that all pet owners, regardless of their mobility needs, can comfortably bring their animals in for care. The presence of an onsite restroom also adds to the comfort and convenience of a visit.
The hospital operates on an "appointments recommended" basis, which is a common practice in veterinary medicine to manage the flow of patients and ensure dedicated time for each animal. This structure is intended to provide a more organized and efficient experience. While some clients have noted difficulties with appointment scheduling and front-end communication, it's a factor that can be managed with a bit of patience. For pet owners in Colorado, having a hospital with a clear physical location and accessible amenities is a significant benefit when seeking care for their animal companions, whether it's a dog, cat, or a horse.
Small Animal Care: The hospital provides comprehensive veterinary care for small pets, including dogs and cats. This includes routine examinations, booster vaccinations, spay and neuter services, and dental procedures with digital dental radiographs.

For Colorado pet owners in the Golden region, the decision of where to take their animal for care often involves weighing the quality of services against the overall customer experience. Golden Animal Hospital is a noteworthy choice for its comprehensive and affordable care, particularly for large animals. The fact that a customer noted it was the "most affordable equine vet" they had ever been to is a significant selling point, as large animal care can be prohibitively expensive. This affordability, combined with a wide range of services from routine check-ups to advanced treatments like stem cell therapy, makes them an attractive option for a diverse group of pet owners.
However, it is important for potential clients to be aware of the feedback regarding front-end staff and communication issues. While these challenges are a factor in the overall experience, they do not necessarily reflect on the quality of the medical care itself. As some reviews indicate, the medical staff can be very professional and caring. The hospital's ability to provide a broad range of services, including emergency care and veterinary care for both small and large animals, makes them a valuable and versatile asset to the community. For a pet owner who prioritizes a wide array of services and affordable pricing, and is willing to navigate potential communication challenges, Golden Animal Hospital is a viable option and a unique resource for all of their animal companions.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I am not a client here. I work at another vet and was calling to request records for a mutual client and the receptionist sounds like she hates her life. I would recommend a different receptionist who is a people person. All I got was attitude and the records weren’t even sent. I called again for the records and when she first answered I had mentioned I called earlier to request records and without even knowing the patient or client name, she interrupted me and said they have been sent. I told her they were not sent and at this point I was very disappointed I told her I wanted to speak to a manager or someone else. I was told a manager was not there and there was no one else. I can see now why people are leaving this place and transferring elsewhere. DO NOT COME HERE. Based off my phone experience with the receptions, I wouldn’t want to know what the rest of the staff are like if they allow someone like this to talk to people the ways she does. Hope this helps.
July 07 · Bryana NevarezWish it was easier to make an appointment here. Why have front end staff if they don't even make the appointments? The front end staff is usually awful to talk to (super rude), but the girl I talked to on Saturday and Tuesday was someone different and a lot more friendly.I had a good experience with 2/3 of the vets here. The prices are the reason I went here. Most affordable equine vet Ive ever been to.I have found a new vet due to how difficult it is to schedule.
May 15 · Kelsey PhippsMy husband and I have been long time clients of Golden Animal Hospital. If I could give a star for the doctors I would say 5. Front desk staff would be a 0. The care we received and customer services several years ago was fantastic. However, this past year or so the vibe changed. I will say, I love my encounters with Dr. Hoyt and she has been nothing short of fabulous. The front desk staff though, all I can say is WOW. The lady I have had frequent encounters with is extremely rude, dismissive, and cranky. I called to get my cat in recently who has needed an immediate vet visit due to vomiting, urination issues, loss of bowels, and other concerns that go with a very old cat. The front desk lady could have cared less. She said she could get me in, in 3 weeks! I called back the next day to see if I could do a drop off just for them to pull labs and squeeze in the cat when they had a moment. She said, "we don't drop offs", but I could schedule labs in 2 weeks but it would be just that blood work -no follow up with a doctor and no care plan. Well, I guess I have to start somewhere so I agreed to schedule blood work. Again, not acceptable for a sick animal who is clearly uncomfortable. When I came in two weeks later, the vet tech who was wonderful said a drop off was perfect for blood work. Totally different story. When they drew labs, the doctor called me and was so helpful and came up with a care plan and ordered antibiotics. She was very thorough in trying to help my cat get back to his normal. There is clearly a disconnect between the techs, doctors and their front desk staff. Their prices have increased a bit, but overall pretty fair I think.
April 25 · The SpanglersI am not a client but I can tell you where I will never refer to. I called to retrieve records for a mutual client and was so very disappointed with the receptionist. Did not answer the phone politely with her name. If I planned on being that rude I wouldn't give my name either. Reading through other reviews it is clear that this receptionist has been the reason for a lot of clients leaving the practice. The front end is the first impression, if it a negative experience, it does not matter how good the rest of the staff may be.
June 16 · Angie PattersonPlease do NOT take your animals here. This place is very unprofessional and untrustworthy. First of all, the lady at the front desk had a nasty attitude, was rude, and very careless. I understand she could have been having a bad day or she may be going through something, so I stayed respectful and nice but continued to get nothing but disrespected and ignored. Which after looking at other reviews I realized that this lady has been rude to customers for YEARS. Second of all, today I took my cat into get spayed, and i’m upset about multiple things. My cat did not even end up getting spayed, because a couple hours after I dropped her off I got a call from them saying that they currently had my cat on the surgery table cut open on the surgery table and saw she has been pregnant for a month! So we decided to not continue with the procedure since they would have to abort the baby’s. We asked why they did not do an ultrasound before putting her on anesthesia and cutting her open, the vet said it’s because they don’t do x-rays (i’ve never heard of a animal hospital that doesn’t do x-rays.) After all of that, I went to pay and the front desk lady told us our total was around $580. That didnt make sense to me so I asked her to break down the bill and tell us what we were all paying for. She had no clue about anything so she called a doctor to come explain it to me. The doctor told me it was that expensive because of the drugs they gave her and because they charge by how much time that it took from the vet, then she told me that it took the vet 30 minutes. While she was telling me that she purposely burped in my face and did not say excuse me or anything. But anyways the bill wasn’t adding up in my head but the doctor seemed very sure that was what we had to pay so we payed it. They also did not bring my cat out until the payment went through. A couple hours later the actual vet calls and says we were charged $200 more dollars then we should have been. Which $300 still seemes very very overpriced but it is what it is. So overall I think this place is not professional at all, they are very lost. One doctor there seemed like she maybe actually cared for animals but that’s it. I have read some very horrible reviews about this place and I wonder why this place is still even able to be doing service for animals. Please do not keep supporting them, this place is very sketchy.
