Manetto Hill Animal Hospital Reviews
I can’t say enough good things about Manetto Hill. My family has been going to Manetto for over twenty years. Recently my little 7 year old chihuahua Comet got very sick. He went downhill within a very short amount of time. Dr. Weiss and his staff took every phone call, answered every question and concern we had. Treatments at an emergency hospital were too expensive but Dr Weiss helped us come up with an alternative plan. In all the years we have been going to Manetto hill we have never felt rushed. Dr. Weiss and staff show the most incredible compassion and kindness when we lost our Comet last week. I will be forever grateful for this phenomenal Vet and couldn’t recommend it enough.
May 31, 2025 · Nicole MarkellI initially had a great experience at Manetto Hill Animal Hospital when my 13-year-old dog underwent periodontal surgery and had a few growths removed. The surgery went well, and I was so appreciative of the care she received that I even brought the staff cookies and a heartfelt thank-you card. However, my positive impression completely changed when I returned for her stitch removal. My dog had been coughing more post-surgery, so I mentioned it to the vet tech and offered to show a video if needed. She assured me she would let the doctor know. I was then taken to a room where Dr. Weis explained the stitch removal had gone well, and we briefly discussed my dog’s cough getting worse from what it usually is, which he attributed to the surgery and prescribed medication for. When I went to check out, I expected to pay for the ointment and medication, but they attempted to charge me an additional $60 for an exam. I questioned this since it was a post-op visit, which should have been included. The receptionist kindly checked with Dr. Weis, who insisted on the charge because I had "taken his time"—despite the fact that I had simply asked him post op questions in an 8-minute conversation. What happened next was shocking. Mallory, the office manager, aggressively stormed out and rudely defended the charge, dismissively calling the surgery "elective"—as if I had put my senior dog under anesthesia for fun, rather than at the doctor's recommendation due to her periodontal disease. The lack of empathy and customer service was astounding. When I questioned why I wasn't informed of an extra charge beforehand, she refused to acknowledge the issue and only reluctantly removed the fee when I declined a credit for a future visit. To go from showing appreciation to the staff one week to being treated like a nuisance the next was incredibly disappointing. (The receptionist Diana and a sweet woman with glasses were great, but they were helpless and stayed quiet as they understood that what was going on was wrong) I understand that a business needs to charge for services, but transparency and compassion should come first—especially in an industry that relies on trust. I expected better from Dr. Weis and his team (specifically Mallory), and sadly, I can no longer recommend Manetto Hill Animal Hospital.

May 03, 2025 · Susan BarongiIf I could give the Manetto Hill Animal Hospital a 6/5, I would do it! I had a VERY BIG problem... a 90lb German Shepherd named Max who did not want his nails trimmed or his ears cleaned. I had it done by having his previous vet sedate him. Unfortunately, the last time I went to the previous vet (not Manetto Hill), the ear problem was not corrected and Max's pain and discomfort remained. It needed to be fixed, but I soon found out it was not easy to find a vet who would sedate a dog for a "pedicure". I tried several and to be honest, they just didn't understand my dilemma.I happened to have been at a doctor's office at 100 Manetto Hill Rd. (Dr. Britto if you ever need an outstanding podiatrist by the way!) when I heard barking next door. So after my appointment I walked over to the office, explained my problem to the front desk staff, and they said, "No problem!" They told me Max could be put into a "twilight" sleep (not fully awake, not fully under) which sounded wonderful to me. They scheduled me for the following day :)So you know, Max can be very aggressive with other dogs and even some people. If he wasn't so handsome and loving he would have been on his way back to the rescue folks in So. Carolina! But he is and he's not. When I brought him in, Dr. Weiss and his assistant, Cathy, took the time to take a case history and get to know Maxy-boy. After 5 minutes Max was so comfortable with them, he just laid down on the floor. After the consult, Cathy was able to take the leash and walk Mr. Max out without me! I have never been able to do this before. I knew then I was in the right office!Dr. Weiss explained all procedures that would be done and even gave me an estimate which I really appreciated! Two hours later Maxy was trimmed and cleaned, I picked him up and we've been happy ever since. So speaking as a fellow doctor, if you are looking for a professional and caring veterinarian, whose office is top notch and has great front desk staff as well (Did I forget to mention them? They were wonderful!!) then you MUST call Manetto Hill Animal Hospital and make an appointment. And it's nice to know that Dr. Weiss is a local Syosset High School graduate! Don't wait, call today!!!
