Patterson Veterinary Hospital Reviews
The doctor loves cats and it shows! My cat is extremely skittish with strangers but she let him do a thorough examination and the only blood that was shed was from my nose where her claw knicked me while I was taking her out of her carrier. We thank you and are very grateful to have a doctor that this cat actually feels comfortable with!
Oct 04, 2024 · Renee HollyPatterson's was one of the best veterinary clinics I have ever worked at. There are some things about veterinary medicine, however, that are difficult to deal with and one of the many reasons I am contemplating a new career. One of the many things that is so devastating for veterinarians are unfair reviews. I've decided to go against conventional wisdom, and start to respond to some of these. We are by no means perfect, I lost a beloved yorkie patient under dental anesthesia and I die a little every time I think about it. There are times though, that angry responses need to be taken with a grain of salt, for the benefit of the doctor's sanity.Regarding the alleged phone call about cat vaccines. This never occurred and is not something I would have ever said, especially since I was instrumental in hiring Dr. Manasco who is a cat vet genius.Regarding the "simple" diagnosis - This was a 12 year old shepherd that presented with labored breathing and was diagnosed with pneumothorax within 10 minutes off arrival. The owner repeatedly declined immediate thoracocentesis. There was a 6 cm dense white opacity on the thoracic radiograph that could not be ruled out as neoplasia. The owner was advised to seek immediate specialty care or consider humane euthanasia. The owner wouldn't do either, but agreed to bring the dog back later in the day if there was no improvement. On return, remarkably, the dog was still alive and the owner decided to treat, the patient and owner were immediately transferred to OVRS where the dog underwent life saving thoracic surgery. I even followed up with that dog post op after an infection developed in the incision. I really felt discouraged by this particular feedback.Regarding the dog attack dog. Here is the rest of the story. This dog was attacked in Northern Michigan on Friday night. The owner declined the advised hospitalization at that time. On Monday morning while we were checking in surgery patients, the owner walked in carrying the dog in lateral recumbency and in complete septic shock. I advised immediate transfer to a referral hospital and that was also declined. I gave the owner an incredibly grave prognosis (HR 50, BG 45, T94, BP too low) and hospitalized him with all hands on deck working on recovery and ER shock treatment (including oxygen). The dogs vitals actually recovered and bloodwork showed no organ failure, so I admit, I was probably a little too optimistic every time the owner checked in. Unfortunately, despite stabilization, the patient arrested, while on the phone with the owner, I explained what was happening and said I would call back. Grief is a horrible thing - but please don't take it out on your vet.I, and every other veterinarian on the planet, sincerely appreciate the good reviews and have no problems accepting a deserved poor review, so please keep those flooding in! On the other hand, please don't use Google to take out your personal frustrations at the expense of another human being.Dr. Lynch
Apr 02, 2025 · Tamara LynchThey get us in quick, and have fast service as can be reasonable. Our lab mix was instantly comfortable with the staff. Several of the rooms have doors that lead directly to the parking lot for reactive pets.
Jun 17, 2025 · Stephi VeihlVery compassionate and accommodating. We had 2 minor emergencies this year involving non life threatening issues, however, requiring immediate attention. Patterson was able to get our puppies in without an appointment, but with professional skilled care. Most recently our dog was having an allergic reaction. They worked with me to get our dog in same day and provided wonderful care. Thank you!!
Oct 30, 2023 · matt-chooI have been taking my girls to Patterson Vet Hospital since they were little and couldn’t be happier with their services and professionalism. Dr Wilson is so kind and knowledgeable, I’ve recommended her to many friends and I’ll continue to do so. The front desk and technicians are also great. I feel safe following their recommendations and grateful for the care they provide. Keep up the good work!
