For pet owners in Royal Oak and the broader Michigan area, Royal Oak Animal Hospital stands out as a strong contender for comprehensive veterinary care, primarily due to its long-standing history, wide range of services, and a team consistently praised for their compassion. The deeply emotional review recounting the passing of a beloved dog, Picasso, and the exceptional compassion shown by Dr. Collins and her team, speaks volumes about the human-animal bond being respected and supported at this facility. This level of empathy and care, particularly during distressing times, is invaluable to pet owners and is a significant factor in choosing a veterinary partner. However, it is important to address the negative feedback regarding the caged parrot left unattended in the window. This specific complaint raises valid concerns about the hospital's adherence to best practices for animal welfare, especially for non-traditional pets. A professional veterinary setting should ideally demonstrate consistent high standards of care for all animals, including appropriate housing and social interaction for species known to require it. This particular review suggests a potential oversight in the daily management of all animals within their care. For Michigan locals, this specific feedback should encourage a discussion with the hospital, especially if they own exotic birds or other animals with unique social and environmental needs, to understand how the hospital ensures the well-being of all species under its temporary care.
Despite this isolated but serious concern, the overwhelming positive feedback regarding the medical care and compassionate handling of dogs and cats, along with the extensive list of services, makes Royal Oak Animal Hospital a suitable choice for most conventional pet healthcare needs in Michigan. The accessible location, combined with the proven dedication of staff like Dr. Collins, provides a solid foundation for trustworthy and caring veterinary services. For long-term animal health and well-being, many local pet owners will find Royal Oak Animal Hospital to be a reliable and deeply caring partner for their cherished family members.

Royal Oak Animal Hospital Reviews
It is very distressing to see the Royal Oak Animal hospital leave a caged parrot unattended in the window all weekend and week nights. A Parrot requires social interaction and should not be left unattended in a cage for more than a few hours. It is bad for the parrot and can cause depression and other health issues. Shame on this behavior coming from a place that should be caring for the healing and well being of animals.Pet owner, are you sure you want to take your beloved pet to a place that treats animals this way?Very sad for that sweet parrot. Please let Royal Oak Animal Hospital hear from you about this.
Jun 07, 2025 · Susan KampeYesterday, my little dog, Picasso died. Dr. Collins and her team at Royal Oak Animal Hospital were the kindest, most helpful, and compassionate people. Over the years, the care given to my dogs has been exceptional and I use Dr. Collins for my veterinarian needs. Yet, yesterday, Dr. Collins compassion and exceptional care was extraordinary. I cannot thank this team of Doctors and staff for their care. I am deeply moved by your compassion and will always use your Hospital to ensure my animals have the care and support from this team.
Jul 16, 2020 · Dinah LynchI’ve never had anything but great experiences here. Not everything can happen instantaneously in this world, which a lot of people in these reviews seem to think they deserve, as if we’re all just living in their world. They have helped with any standard services, and seen my dog and cat on short notice for concerns on multiple occasions. The cat they saw even with no prior history. Things cost money, but they are so much less money hungry than places like blue cross on 11 mile. They will never suggest procedures not necessary. Will continue going here for all vet needs.
Dec 15, 2024 · Tyler FleetwoodJanice Collins is the absolute GOAT. She's responsive, helpful, she listens to her clients and she loves our pets. Never had a bad visit with Janice. She got my boy in for an unexpected Surgery the next day and she's been absolutely amazing through the whole process. Can't recommend enough.
Jan 07, 2023 · Riley CarterI’ve been coming here for years with two of my dogs. They have worked with me and have provided love and care for my fur babies. I mostly saw Dr. Jan and felt extremely comfortable with her. I refuse to go anywhere else because of the comfort and respect myself and dogs have received
