While particularly well-known for their affordable spay/neuter services, EVI offers a broader range of general veterinary care, all delivered with remarkable patience, professionalism, and compassion. We’ll explore what makes EVI a truly wonderful option for pet owners in the Cincinnati area, delving into their services, their unique highlights, and why so many local residents trust them with their beloved cats and other small animals.

Subsidized Non-Emergency Veterinary Services: EVI focuses on providing affordable care for pets whose families couldn't otherwise afford them, helping to reserve services for those most in need.
Spay & Neuter Surgery: A primary service, offered at extremely low costs for cats (owned and community/feral) and rabbits. These surgeries are fundamental to pet population control and overall health.
Wellness and Preventive Care: Includes routine check-ups, ensuring comprehensive health monitoring for your pets.
Vaccinations: Essential immunizations to protect pets from common diseases, ensuring they stay healthy and resilient.
Parasite Management: Services for flea, tick, and heartworm prevention and treatment, vital for pet comfort and health.
Microchipping: Permanent identification through microchip implantation, significantly increasing the chances of reunion if a pet gets lost.
Preventive Medications: Prescribing and dispensing necessary medications for preventive health.
Treatment and Disease Management: Addressing chronic diseases (including diabetes), eye, ear, and skin infections, and allergies. They also provide prescription medications for various conditions.
Diagnostics: Includes essential diagnostic tools such as blood tests and urinalysis to aid in accurate diagnosis.
Dental Care & Treatment: Offering dental exams, professional cleaning (prophylaxis), and extractions for comprehensive oral health. Note: complex extractions may be referred to a full-service vet.
General Surgery: Beyond spay/neuter, they perform other essential surgeries such as mass removals and amputations, all with careful anesthetic management.
Compassionate End-of-Life Care: Provides humane euthanasia services, cremation resources, and support for pet families during difficult times.
Unmatched Affordability & Subsidized Care: The most significant highlight is their extremely low pricing, particularly for spay/neuter services (e.g., $50 for a kitten neuter vs. $250 elsewhere). This is enabled by their non-profit status and mission to provide care to families who couldn't otherwise afford it, making essential veterinary services accessible to a wider segment of the Ohio population.
Exceptional Patience and Compassionate Staff: Clients consistently praise the "most patient and pleasant facility" and staff who are "so sweet and understanding." This empathetic approach is particularly valuable for anxious pets or owners with many questions, ensuring a comfortable and reassuring experience.
Comprehensive Spay/Neuter Package: Their spay/neuter service includes a mild sedative, pain medication (lasting 48-72 hours), an antibiotic injection, oxygen during surgery, cardiac monitoring, and a reversal drug for rapid recovery. This thorough approach ensures the pet's comfort and safety during and after the procedure.
Clear and Proactive Communication: EVI excels in keeping pet owners informed. They send text messages to notify owners when their pet is out of surgery and how they are doing, providing peace of mind during a stressful time.
Trustworthy and Highly Recommended: Despite being a low-cost clinic, clients express immense trust, stating they would "trust them any time" with their pets. Many recommend EVI to friends and family, recognizing that the lower price does not compromise the quality of care, but rather reflects their mission.
Expertise in High-Volume Procedures: As a dedicated spay/neuter clinic, their veterinarians perform these surgeries frequently, leading to a high level of expertise and efficiency in these specific procedures, which often translates to excellent outcomes for healthy animals.
Focus on Core Services for Maximum Impact: While not a full-service vet clinic in the traditional sense (as clients noted they wished they were for their full range of needs), their focus on essential wellness, spay/neuter, and addressing common ailments allows them to be incredibly effective and affordable in these critical areas.

The Economic Veterinary Initiative (EVI spay/neuter clinic) Reviews
The most patient and pleasant facility I’ve encountered when it comes to my cat and my questions and concerns. Well priced and all around wonderful care. I have 3 cats and I would trust them any time. I don’t recall the woman’s name at the front desk when we came in but she was so sweet and understanding. I’ve lived all around the US and over the years have paid SO much money for my animals to get brushed off at some clinics (obviously this is not a full serviced vet clinic) but I wish they were. They are truly WONDERFUL.
Jun 12, 2025 · Sarah WhiteExtremely well priced! My friend recommended them to me for spay/neuter. It was only $50 to neuter our kitten vs $250 at our vet. They sent me a text to let me know when my kitten was out of surgery and how he did. The workers were all so extremely kind.
Aug 31, 2024 · SamI can't say enough good about this place. First off this is probably the least expensive place to spay/neuter your rabbit, both my girls were done for less then half of what my regular vet wanted (to spay them), and also got my black rabbit ( i have never felt comfortable clipping her nails) a stunning pedicure! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the quality of their care is amazing! Definitely recommend if you have cats or rabbits in need of spay/neuter or routine care.
Mar 22, 2024 · Sarah OlmedoA wonderful little place for a wallet-friendly kitty care! I took in 3 little goofballs to get neutered, and I plan to return for at least one more neuter. They are very respectful and welcoming, and I could not be happier to have found such an amazing place!
